Private use - Authentic Renovated Machiya House

EnricoRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Very clean and maintained. Everything has been thought of. It even had adapters for the sockets, you don't even have to take your own (I still recommend it just in case). Too good for the price in my eyes. Host is very helpful and friendly, was really fun. The kitchen was also well equipped with dishes and even scissors, etc. I highly recommend it!

MODERN CLASSIC TOWN HOUSE KYOTO

ReeceRating, 5 stars1 week ago
A must-stay in Kyoto! Staying in this traditional Japanese house was an unforgettable experience—something you absolutely have to try when visiting Kyoto. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the station, making it super easy to get around the city. The house was spotless, and the host was incredibly responsive and accommodating. They helped me store my luggage before check-in and even let me stay an extra hour on checkout day, which was a huge help. Highly recommend—wonderful host and a truly special stay!

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

I wish I could’ve stayed longer ! Everything was perfect during my stay, it’s a very peaceful and quiet place, and we’re not too far from the center of Kyoto It was my first time sleeping on a futon and this is honestly very comfortable ! I’ve got welcomed by Mrs. T (I don’t know if I’m allowed to say her name in the review), she was so sweet and kind, she showed me some food recommendations, and brought my breakfast in the morning Thank you so much again for having me, and I hope to come back soon ! ☺️

CITY-CENTER, UNIQUE, LUXURY, HISTORICAL TOWNHOUSE

HeidiRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Lovely traditional home that met our needs well. There is a bit of a strong smell in some rooms - likely just because it's an old house - but it was a little difficult to some very sensitive noses in our party. But overall, a lovely stay. As a heads up - the address listed in the checkin info is missing a portion (I believe the neighborhood?) that taxi drivers need - but if you click on the google maps link, it can give you a more complete one, or you can just give your phone to the driver to use to navigate! Check in was easy outside of that little thing and the laundry and kitchen are great! Note that stairs are steep if you have anyone who may have issues with that!

traditional house with art / rent-free kimono

BarbRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Katsuya's home is absolutely gorgeous. Every detail is so well considered. He has left a biography of the artists whose work is in the house, and a brief history of the renovation as well, which I found fascinating. Nothing is overlooked. A wonderful experience.

This was our second stay on our first trip to Japan. Let me start by saying the host was amazing, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. He met us at the train station and walked with us to the house, he had several treats in the house for us as well. He messaged us every once in a while to make sure we were still ok. The house itself is very pretty, I really like the style. It was a decent size (for Japan) and pretty comfortable. All the amenities were working great. The location was pretty good, it was about 5 minutes from a small train station. Several convenience stores nearby (5min walk). This was definitely our favorite stay in our trip to Japan. 10/10 would go again.

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

Ryunohara Hatago

Jia YingRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Just very 癒された. This is a place that made me glad for hustle and bustle, because how else otherwise could I know to better appreciate the calm I found here? Open-air woodfire onsen. Ikebana and art with explanatory labels in every room. Well-organised library of great reads. A washer-dryer that really does minimise creases (Sharp pls bring this model into SG pronto). An entire fridge section dedicated to chilled glasses?? Come on. Ryunohara provided every modern comfort with more thought and love than my ex-husband could muster. Please do yourself a favour and order meals because Dana is an incredible cook. In chillier weather they'd have a small heater warming your back as you eat; it's good for humanity that such genius was not put to evil. Neither 1000 characters nor my 2-night stay are enough. Although building cairns and generally zoning out at the nearby riverside was plenty enough for me, I will be back - either for a retreat, or with a car so I can explore the wider area.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Kyoto. The location was perfect—nestled in a quiet neighborhood, yet close to train stations and major attractions. The house was spotlessly clean and designed in a charming, traditional Japanese style, which made our stay feel truly authentic. Our hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, even assisting us with restaurant reservations. We absolutely loved the experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto!

SamRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What a magical place. Pictures don’t do it justice. The property was beautiful and the room was a peaceful getaway in itself. With the electric bike you can ride up to the end of the road and hike up to the temple which was beautiful. Miko and her staff were fantastic. One day she gave me a ride personally for a hike and an hour later it started to rain. I was prepared to walk all the way back, but she reached out to me herself and asked if I needed a ride , which I took, but I deeply appreciate it that she took initiative and make sure I was taken care of.
