This was by far the best accommodation we’ve stayed at. Toru was super responsive and helpful with any queries prior to check in. When we mentioned that we were going to BBQ, he gave recommendations for shops to buy meat and other groceries from. He even went the super extra mile and helped to set up the BBQ seats/equipment and even lit a fire for us with his own charcoal, all before we arrived!!! I believe Toru has far exceeded the bar for Japanese hospitality. Instead of feeling like a typical guest in any hotel/Airbnb stay, he made us feel like we were distant relatives visiting him for the day. Amenities in the house were amazing and perfectly maintained too! 11/10 would recommend this place. Bonus points cause there’s cats.

M’s エムズ

LoganRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Our stay was wonderful. It was our first ever stay in Japan. When we landed later than expected, M stayed up for us. I also messed up on the amount of people I reserved. M was super understanding and we were able to change the booking with her that night. She also gave us a good list of local restaurant recommendations. As well as home made blueberry honey jam which was delicious. The cabin itself is super nice, comfy, cozy and so peaceful. It was a great stay and I would highly recommend. I don’t know when I will be back in Japan, but when I do, I will be back.

Kumasan is such a thorough and welcoming host!! Welcomed us with open arms the moment we arrived and patiently gave us a tour of the guesthouse. We felt at home immediately. The house itself is one of the best airbnbs we have ever stayed in. Our only regret is not staying for more nights.

Villa & Camping between NARITA Airport & Tokyo

LaurinRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Great place, very peaceful and quiet. The birds and sounds at night are wonderful. The bamboo forest behind the house is super cool. It’s not the easiest place to walk to or take public transport too as a Tokyo base, but Scott is very helpful and accommodating and makes it as easy as it can be way out there. Great spot to stay for the airport, and Scott dropping you off there is a big help. Being our first time in Japan, I really would have liked to picks Scott’s brain at the start rather than end. Overall a great experience. And we picked up some of Noriko’s pottery too!

The most amazing, creative and quirky house! Unlike anywhere else in Japan. We absolutely LOVED it. Its a hand built cob house with so much charm and comfort. A highlight of our Japan trip for sure. If you are lucky enough to come across this place on Airbnb, make sure you book it!!!

Japanese Country Guest House "Tsuzune no mori"

MatthewRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We (a couple in our 40s) stayed here for almost a month in March and April. We loved it! The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The house was cozy and the host very friendly, responsive, helpful, and flexible. We enjoyed cooking local produce in the house, running in the surrounding areas, visiting the onsens, snowboarding, and driving to the mountains. There is good Internet and space to work remotely. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and pots and pans, etc. Although you do not need a car because the train station and grocery are a 15-minute walk and there is a restaurant within five-minute walk, having a car opened the surroundings up to us—all the wonderful nature and onsen and small towns. Nagano station is 45 minutes by train.

Guest-House-Suginoko(Chartered one building)

JohnRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Hitoshi's mountain inn is a gem. The old restored farmhouse is incredibly charming. We felt being transported back in time. For hours, we sat on the wooden veranda, staring into the amazing landscape that surrounds the house, while listening to the chirping of birds in the forest. We opted for the meal plan, and were treated by Hitoshi and Emiko to amazing local cuisine. We had a very difficult time saying good bye to this beautiful place. We hope to be able to return some time soon.

Private rental of a 130-year-old house with a traditional Japanese sunken fireplace, wood stove, and Goemon bath

ErvinRating, 5 stars1 week ago
"Swallows and Earth" is the best Airbnb place I have ever stayed at. We were greeted by a smiley Ryohei who gave us a comprehensive tour of the place. His English was great and he provided us all the information we needed. Each element of the house is intentional in its philosophy and design. The warm lighting paired with its furniture created a cohesive and homely atmosphere. There was no compromise made in quality. Every piece of modern equipment fit all our needs well, from the softness of the mattresses to the high quality of the kitchen equipment. Our stay was made even better over a meal at the irori fireplace, with lettuce we harvested from Ryohei's own garden alongside their homegrown rice and soy sauce. The fireplace and goemon bath were just the icing on the cake that made our stay even better. We have not even talked about the view - a veranda watching the beautiful sunset over the mountains. If you're in Nagano, there might be no better place to stay at.

We had an incredible stay! The owners were exceptionally kind and welcoming, making us feel at home right away. They went above and beyond by suggesting great nearby places to visit, which made our trip even more enjoyable. Their hospitality truly made a difference, and we highly recommend staying here. Looking forward to coming back!

We had the best time at Satoko-san’s and cannot recommend it enough. Both her and her husband invited us into their homes with immense warmth and hospitality and went above and beyond in making sure we felt comfortable during our stay. Her place is clean, quiet, and cozy and is a short distance away from restaurants and bar in town (she helped us make reservations). She also provided us breakfast every morning and I would even go as far as to say that her food was some of the best we had in Yoichi. I’ll always think fondly of my time getting to know her and staying at her place. I am looking forward to staying with them again!

Snow Shack Niseko + 4WD Van

SeanRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Honored to have stayed at the Snow Shack during our first visit to Hokkaido. Daisuke-san was super kind, helpful, and accommodating during our stay. Rarely do Airbnbs live up to the expectations, but the Snow Shack was a beautiful, simple, well-considered home that served as a good home base out of the crowds.
