The rocky cliffs and lush seaside setting in Seldovia is complete with tidal pools teeming with salmon, and crystal clear lagoons streaked by the occasional kayaker. You are closer to the ultimate Alaskan vacation than any roadside destinations. From here, find your own epic fishing hole (along the shore or out deep - for salmon, halibut, rock fish, cod and more. Kayak cove to cove, walk the beaches, hike trails and bike the mountains. In town, you'll find a few local shops to get groceries, a handful of restaurants, an abundance of artists and native crafts, a few tour/fishing guide outfits and others that offer kayaking. Seldovia is a gem among small Alaskan fishing towns. While off the beaten path, it is less than an hour via ferry from Homer, and even quicker by plane. You can walk from one end to the other in about 30 minutes or rent a golf cart or bike and and realize it is a story-book setting that has something special to offer travelers.

This newly renovated and locally owned property was the first hotel/BnB ever built in Palmer Alaska. It opened for business in 1936 with single rooms renting for $3 a day. We have maintained the historic colonial feel of the building while incorporating modern amenities to ensure our guests a comfortable and safe stay. The Hyland Hotel was officially listed on the federal National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 1991. We look forward to sharing a piece of Palmer's history with you!

Best location in town. Downtown right on 2nd Avenue. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, museums, visitor centers, etc. Sunny deck with patio furniture available to guests in the summer months. Literally 300ft from Chena River and Golden Heart Plaza. Parking Garage a 100ft away that charges $5 a day and lots of free street parking. Discounts to a restaurant a few feet away.

Great location for a overnight stay before heading to airport. Just what I was looking for- one bed / bathroom . Lots of light thru windows to brighten the room, semi blackout curtains to block the light as well. Safe location. Offer coffee, tea, and lemon water. Within walking distance of a good Thai restaurant.

After a long hike we were bummed to find out the hot tub was out of commission (it’s why we booked it) BUT it was a hot day and a jump in the lake was the next best thing. The place is super clean and there are a lot of thoughtful touches throughout. Jessica is a sweetheart and there’s clearly a lot of thought and love that goes into this place. I recommend for anyone coming to Juneau who wants a stay off the beaten path.

Mary Ann’s place was perfect for me as a solo traveler. The room is super clean and thoughtfully decorated. Her breakfasts are scrumptious. The house has a great location, within walking distance of the harbor, downtown, and the Sealife Center, and is 1-1/2 blocks from a town shuttle stop. The location is quiet. Mary Ann was very responsive answering questions before and during my arrival. While I was staying I had all the privacy I needed, but also knew that Mary Ann was easy to reach if I needed anything. I would definitely stay here again.

Derek the owner was our host, he was absolutely amazing! He let us tag along fishing a couple of evenings!! The beach and waterfall was secluded and beautiful. We enjoyed chatting with Derek during our down time and he even let us do a lot of laundry!! The room was very clean, the shower was hot and the sheets were great! We can’t wait to stay next summer!
