Chateau de Tocqueville, heritage to share

ZheRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Staying in Stephanie and her family’s Chateau de Tocqueville was absolutely a five star experience to us. We spent three night here in the castle but found it’s absolutely not enough to experience the property. We could utilize four floors with five stylish bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen and salon on the ground floor plus the pond, tennis court, biking area…and more. It’s a perfect place to spend a few days or weeks. We spent a few hours to read Alexi de Tocqueville’s books (but only finished one fifth of the book) in the place where he wrote the book, the feeling was so special and we felt like becoming the witness to the history.

Acton Castle, Breathtaking Clifftop Views

MichaelRating, 5 stars94 months ago
Due to the fantastic photos on Airbnb our expectations were already high, but reality by far exceeded all our expectations. We really spent a perfect week in the wonderful Garden Apartment in Acton Castle. Maybe the most impressive is the incredible view over the bay of Penzance with the spectacular St. Michael's Mount as its central point. You can enjoy this fantastic view from the living room, from the breakfast table or even when doing the dishes in the kitchen. Another highlight is the garden which is really beautiful with a nice pond, wonderful plants and flowers and many great places to sit and enjoy the view. Also the 18th century Acton Castle is a very beautiful and really impressive building. The apartment is ideal for a family like ours with 2 children. The main sleeping room has its own bathroom with toilet and shower. The main bathroom has a bathing tub with shower and another toilet. The appartment has two floors. Sleeping rooms and bathrooms are in the basement, while living room and kitchen are in the first floor with its incredible view. The appartment offers a lot of space for a family of four and we weren't missing anything. You reach the costal path within two minutes from the garden. We did a very nice walk to St. Michael's Mount. Acton Castle is also a good starting point for many activities in the area. You can easily reach Penzance, St. Ives, the Lizard Peninsula and many, many more great places by car. There are several big supermarkets in the direction towards Penzance which you can reach within 10 minutes by car. Garden Apartment in Acton Castle is a really perfect place to spend a perfect holiday and we definitely give a 5 star recommendation. Thanks to Tim for giving us the possibility to enjoy this great place and the area around it.

Château Le Mont Epinguet 7 bedrooms Sleeps 15

SophieRating, 5 stars24 months ago
Our stay at Chateau Le Mont Epinguet surpassed all of our expectations-- it's truly beautiful and Fiona and Mark are beyond friendly. We went as a group of 18 and still found the house incredibly spacious-- you'll never be on top of one another! The gardens outside are lovely and provide lots of spots for sunbathing/reading (and so spacious we even got in a game of rounders). The kitchen has as much crockery as you might ever desire; there are several excellent and large supermarkets within a 15 minute drive (better quality produce and more economical than any British supermarket). Above all-- I cannot express the warmth and kindness of Mark and Fiona-- they're exceptional hosts who attended to any queries we had and provided a wealth of excellent beach & restaurant recommendations. A beautiful chateau, a wonderful (eccentric) interior, with lovely gardens (esp. the palm trees), and great for friends who wish to spend some time stuck together.

Lady Jane Grey, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

It was so quiet! The cottage was lovely and well provisioned. Despite being cold outside the cottage stayed warm at all times. It's a short walk to the centre of the lovely Cotswold town of Winchcombe which has plenty of good eateries and drinking places. We had a great weekend and we're glad we chose this cottage to stay in.

Oliver Cromwell, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

BrittRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We stayed as a small adult family of three and couldn't have loved the Oliver Cromwell apartment more. It felt homely and inviting, and in such beautiful surroundings. Loved the Christmas tree with lights in our living room - it was a beautifully festive touch! Parking is easy, and it is a very short and easy stroll into the centre of Winchcombe. The amenities in our apartment were fantastic, which made self-catering for some meals, so easy. We enjoyed drinks and meals at both the White Hart, and the Corner Cupboard, but have to say the hospitality and quality of food served at the Corner Cupboard was an absolute winner! Being January, we couldn't enjoy the complimentary access to Sudeley Castle, but we did manage to walk the park trails surrounding it, which were absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Princess Elizabeth, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

PatriciaRating, 5 stars23 months ago
Well placed, 5 minutes walk to Sudeley Castle and just off the main street through Winchcombe. Unlimited access to the castle was a bonus. Both Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle are well worth a visit. Many walks from your doorstep so you don't need to use your car. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and takeaways available in the town. Accommodation very clean, and well equipped. Bolthole Retreats were very helpful when I had a query. Safe and roomy parking. Can highly recommend.

This amazing home was perfect for a family get together, with walks on the doorstep and parking available. It was well- equipped and spotlessly clean. We found the staircase to the roof garden and loved the views! Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Just stayed for the weekend for my sisters hen party. What can I say it was the most beautiful grounds You can imagine. We had the amazing weather and sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine it was like being in the South of France. The views are out of a post card. We had the most amazing time. The venue is so gorgeous and like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s really unique. Scott is so accommodating and helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time thank you.
