We had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you to Melanie who was the most welcoming host. The place is beautiful, quiet, surrounded by nature, horses, and cute sheep. A very serene, gorgeous environment, right at the doorstep of the South Downs. The kitchen was very well equipped, the place was impeccably clean, and all the rooms were spacious and well decorated. We arrived at nighttime so it made finding the place slightly difficult, but trusted Melanie's instructions and we found it in no time!

For the two of us it was spacious and well equipped and was truly cosy and comfortable. The imaginative use of the space gave high ceilings and a relaxing ambience. It’s an attractive place to stay in a lovely village. The setting between the hills is pretty. Lynn was helpful and friendly throughout.

Amazing location, really peaceful, not too far from the city…but immerse in the countryside.

We were a family party with ages from 5 to 75 . Lots for everyone to do ( swimming , tennis, billiards/snooker & beautiful walks all there) There was enough space both inside the wonderfully converted barn and outside in the extensive grounds to enjoy each others company without being overcrowded. Thanks Sarah for enabling a lovely weekend .

My partner, our dog, and I stayed here over the weekend for a short city break from London, and we had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. Sophie is a fantastic host, friendly and accommodating! The house is set in a peaceful location, perfect for walks, and just a 30-minute stroll from the charming little town. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend it!

A wonderful stay - wish we could have stayed longer and had more time to take walks and explore the local area. The accommodation was clean, bright and airy, and spacious. Well appointed kitchen. Cosy and warm. The snow on our last evening was a bonus!

We really enjoyed staying at The Barn and would like to stay again when visiting relatives who live under 3 miles away. The Barn was extremely comfortable and very relaxing although we didn't have much time to relax due to a busy weekend. The breakfast was delicious and very generous. Mary is an excellent host, she has furnished the accommodation beautifully and has provided everything a guest might need during their stay. She communicated regularly with us before our visit and was very proactive supplying us with all the information we might need. Mary was very kind and helpful to us when we had problems opening the gate. We would highly recommend The Barn.

From the booking process through to the stay, everything was perfect. The place is amazing and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Professional but personal best sums it all up. A wonderful place.

We spent a wonderful weekend in this cozy and quiet house. Every detail of the interior reflects the care and love that Shelagh puts into her home and her guests' comfort. She provided fresh homemade eggs, jam, milk, croissants and more for breakfast. She even brought flowers from her garden, which was a delightful touch. In the evenings, we enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace; the provided firewood lasted perfectly for our two-night stay. It's advisable to arrive by car to explore the many local attractions recommended by Shelagh. We, for instance, booked a walk with alpacas, which was a unique experience. We would gladly return and hope to have more time to chat with Shelagh on our next visit. Thank you so much for this wonderful weekend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our staycation/weekend getaway at Mel’s place with our dog. Everything was as described in the listing and we felt at home straight away. Mel was super helpful when providing information on local walks, pubs, restaurants, shops etc. I would highly recommend Mel’s place to family and friends for a cozy and peaceful getaway, likewise would stay again if in the area. I can’t speak highly enough about this property and also Ashling, the Host. I arrived with my five-year-old daughter and we both loved the property. Ashling was an amazing host, not only personally checking us in, but also checking during our two day stay that everything was okay. Little touches like having a pint of milk in the fridge were just so incredibly thoughtful and also helpful. I will definitely be going back!

We had a fantastic stay at Ampneyfield Barns. Ian was incredibly kind and welcoming, even leaving us some groceries for breakfast, which was a lovely touch. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and really well looked after. It’s in a great location—quiet and peaceful, yet ideal for exploring the area. Ian’s hospitality was excellent, and we really appreciated all the care and effort he put in. We’d highly recommend Ampneyfield Barns and would love to visit again.

Really comfortable stay. Great location for Legoland and London. Communication with Nic was so good and they were so accommodating for us and our children. Very peaceful setting and the children loved waking up to see the horses in the distance.

We had a lovely weekend at Bagpuss cottage. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, had everything we needed for our stay, plus welcoming extras. Julie was very quick to answer any questions and very welcoming on arrival and departure. Would highly recommend this cottage for anyone visiting J Clarksons pub, farm and brewery.

A lovely place to stay. Potential for a sofa bed to sleep more. Everything is very local and a shop near by for any essentials.

Had a lovely 3 night, warm and cosy winter stay in the loft. A great location to relax, read and explore nearby villages and jump the bus into Oxford. Anna and Jonathan were great hosts, who communicated well throughout.

It is a delightful barn studio with subtle touch of beauty in the design, handy compliances and great privacy in a beautiful suburban neighborhood. Fionuula is great with communication. The only pity with my trip ( and the beauty) is that I stayed there during Christmas holidays, when very limited bus service was available and no shops or restaurants nearby. So for any guests who want to enjoy a quiet retreat in this lovely place, make sure to get some basic food and drink before hand. Would love to come back in summer to enjoy the beautiful place and views around the house.
