Vacation rentals with lake access in North Carolina

We had the BEST stay at this home on Lake Norman. It’s a great house and had everything we wanted! We’d definitely stay here again!

First off Carson is an amazing host! We absolutely loved our stay here. My family of 4 felt right at home. The house and kitchen is well stocked with towels, linens, pillows, pots/pans, cups etc. I only brought seasonings and food. The beds are extremely comfortable and so are the pillows. We are an outdoor family so this spot hit all our outdoor needs. Ate outside a lot, the grill, the table, the fire pit and spacious yard was perfect for us! Now the dock and lake. That’s where we spent most of our time. Beautiful long dock with stairs at the end to jump in and cool off. Brought my own life jackets for the kids. The water is nice and clean as well. We also spent hours fishing here and got lucky with some nice catches. The surrounding neighbors are great we made friends with everyone near by and their sweet puppies especially Lucy and Braxton. DoorDash, Instacart and Dominoes delivery out there for days I didn’t want to leave. We enjoyed this stay very very much, we will be back.

Amazing people!!! We had a mishap with grandchildren and caused damage. Robert was so kind and understanding and easy to work with to resolve the issue. The house was amazing with even better views. Very clean and well equipped. 10 out of 10 would recommend! Erin Moore

Peter was a great host and very responsive with any questions or request. Home was exactly as described, were looking for a peaceful quiet and secluded weekend getaway. Porch is very peaceful, kitchen is well equiped and everything works. Master bedroom is very peaceful and comfortable. Had fun playing pool too! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful view in a great location at Lake Gaston. Comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Jacob is a great, responsive host. Would absolutely stay here again!

The sunsets from the porch are gorgeous. It is not only impressive that this home was built in just the perfect spot to catch an amazing sunset, but also nestled in the middle of Fontana Lake with a great view of the lake. I can’t say enough about this location! I’ve grown up coming to the Carolina’s and never knew about Fontana Lake. This cabin feels incredibly secluded and luxurious, but close enough to all the best adventure spots—Nantahala, Deep Creek, Smoky National Park, Fontana Lake access points, Appalachian Trail—you name it. There is even a great trailhead walking distance from the cabin that has great views of the lake, creeks, and challenging and diverse enough to walk 2-3x. We saw deer and wild turkey almost everyday and the wildflowers were in bloom all over. Additionally, the master bedroom has an amazing view from the bed. When I opened my eyes each morning, I had a view of the smokies that was mesmerizing. We all want to rent this cabin again!

The house was as advertised: beautiful location, the outdoor space was really incredible, and the kitchen upstairs/theater setup downstairs were popular hang out spaces. The only issue was the alarms on the back doors. Each of the back sliding doors had a manual alarm that had to be pressed to exit and enter the house. They were incredibly loud, even when used as instructed. They are obviously there for safety reasons but it made it really difficult at times to be in and out of the house to enjoy the wonderful outdoor space.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back sometime! The home looks just like the pictures and is very well stocked. There were lots of clean towels and every bed had four pillows. The walk to the dock is short but is quite steep with stairs. We didn't encounter anyone during our weekend trip, but it does appear that it may be a shared dock as the path connects to another home. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. Coffee, cream (shelf stable) and sugar were also provided. The bed was comfy, and the dedicated AC unit for the main bedroom was really nice to have. As this place is right by the lake, you should be prepared for some spiders and bugs. We didn't see anything big inside, but the kayaks had quite a few in and on them. Once we cleaned them up, we really enjoyed going out on the lake for a couple hours.

This was the nicest Airbnb we have ever stayed in. It was small, but had everything we needed to enjoy our week. It was nice to be able to cook some of our meals in the well supplied kitchen. Everything was very clean and neat, and the surroundings were beautiful. We were able to spend time with Steve and Susie and they were very helpful and enjoyable. The only problem we had was finding the home on the first day, but this was due to road construction that blocked the way into the residential area. We had to come through the main gate of Lake Junaluska and stop for directions. The neighborhood was very nice and we enjoyed walking around the lake and just sitting, enjoying the scenery. We hope to someday return and enjoy this lovely apartment again.

This is my second time staying at this fantastic spot, and it was just as great as the first. They are wonderful hosts, the place is a real hidden gem, and the community has so much to offer. It certainly won't be my last time here!

Loch Norm Lair is beautiful and relaxing. Great neighborhood. Just the peaceful week we needed. Rick and Judy are extremely friendly. Rick loves to share his boat and will take you for a ride. We sat and talked with them on several occasions and shared a dinner at a restaurant. The place is well cared for and a great deal, very reasonable pricing. It was a shame the sailboat wasn't working, would have loved a ride. We are already talking about a return trip in warmer weather to fully enjoy the water. Thank you so much for the beautiful week. ms.sandy and her husband are the sweetest people ever, we missed check in by 4 hours so she was worried and made sure we were okay, upon arrival and her explaining everything to us she took the time to made sure we ate something and made us a smoothie just in case we didn’t. she has the most beautiful home and it’s exactly like the pictures. when you look over the balcony at night you see the most beautiful firefly’s, and wake up to the most brightest sunrises, you can even see the mountains in the back!! the room was so clean and spacious so we will definitely be back again and hopefully for longer!

Alice's place is in the perfect location on the water. The apartment has everything we needed & more. Alice is always do friendly & welcoming. Will definitely stay here again.

Ginger and her husband greeted my kids and I when we arrived and even offered to help me carry my items up. Ginger also offered to go to the store for me when I told her I had to go and get items for my baby and that really touched my heart that she was willing to go out of her way to help me. The place looked exactly like the pictures and was super cute. I really enjoyed my stay and my kids did also. Ginger was very responsive if I had any questions about anything. Her and her husband were so friendly anytime we seen them and I really liked that. I will definitely be staying again the next time I have to make a trip down in that area! :)

We stayed in this little piece of paradise while visiting family. It was exactly what we needed. The home was beautiful and farm was so peaceful. We will definitely use this home again for further visits.

This was a fantastic space. It felt like living in a tree house, but with a large comfortable bed and comfortable couches. I loved the natural setting, from the stone path and the lake and trees outside to the sound of rain on the roof. The neighborhood was beautiful and peaceful also.

We absolutely loved staying here for our weekend getaway. The lake was beautiful to wake up to! The hot tub was wonderful after a long day of walking around. It was so peaceful. Great little house! Would definitely stay here again. We enjoyed the wineries and great food in Lexington (15min drive).

We spent Easter weekend here. As we drove in the wild azaleas and dogwoods were blooming, and everything afterwards was just as beautiful and peaceful. My teenagers loved kayaking and my daughter liked the pond so well she slept on the daybed on the porch. I appreciated the feather pillows and reverse osmosis water. Attention has been paid to every detail. I called my Nana to show her the antique desks. My small children enjoyed the toys and my middle son using the pully bucket on the porch. My daughter celebrated a birthday over our stay, more movie guests showed up than expected and I just couldn't turn these kids away. Our hosts were so kind. They of course charged a little extra as was clearly understood via the contract, they were very understanding and polite. The lock to the boat seems to be jamed, the downstairs fireplace is currently non operational, and I'm not sure I'll get back a thumb drive I forgot, but this family has worked hard to create really special place. Very secluded and peaceful. Wish the weather had been better throughout our stay but it was very nice to wake up to the sound of the waves and nature. I will say if you have a toddler to make sure to take a safety gate. He made it a challenge wanting to climb the stairs so we went out to buy some for our stay. WiFi is spotty (which is a good thing) but I didn’t realize none of my messages were sent until this morning. My husband and son enjoyed some fishing and caught a few stingrays. I would love to go back later in the year.

We absolutely LOVED this cottage on the lake! The view was beautiful, and the kids caught a lot of fish off of the dock! It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed. Jack was a great host. Very responsive and hospitable. Already talking about when we can come back!

Wonderful location with beautiful views and close to plenty of places to visit and eat. This is my second year staying here and I plan to be back.
