Kid-friendly vacation rentals in North Carolina

I’ve thought about how to review this place. Almost didn’t want to because i don’t want to give away such an awesome place. lol if I could buy it I would! This was one of the best airbnbs I’ve stayed at. Although our stay was only one night, we are already planning to come back. It gives you a “rainforest” feel. The outdoor screened in deck was amazing. It came a monstrous thunderstorm and we were able to watch the storm and sunset from the deck without getting rained on or bugs bothering us at all. It was an amazing much needed experience. This was the easiest 5 star review I’ve ever written. Everything was well stocked, the projection for tv was a neat touch. Exactly like the description, Calming, charming, and one of a kind! The host was super responsive and even let us check in a few minutes early because we got there before our arrival time. We can’t wait to come back and will be booking this as long as it’s open for all of our overnight duke stays from now on!

This is a beautiful home tucked into a peaceful little corner of the mountains. The house has all of the basics covered. The waterfalls in front of the house are beautiful and provide a constant white noise that I found to be very peaceful. However, the roar is surprisingly loud. The home is very automated (Alexa to control the lights, motioned sensing trash can, etc.) which I guess can be a pro or a con depending on preference. We especially loved all of the deck space! And I loved all of the windows that brought in a ton of natural light.

The space was beautiful and looked just like the pictures! Tastefully decorated and thoughtful furniture placement with tables/lamps/etc. The kitchen was small but mighty! Fully stocked and had everything you’d need to cook a meal! Plenty of silverware and tableware, including plastic bowls and plates for kids! The coffee and cookies were a wonderful touch! The only thing to note is regarding accessibility. The only way to access the floors are with very narrow spiral stairs. Those with young children or limited mobility may have difficulty accessing all parts of the home. You can walk/drive around out back, but it would not be convenient. There is one half bath on the main middle floor and a full bathroom downstairs. The full bathroom could also benefit from a handheld shower head for those with limited mobility as well as showering young children. We did not venture out to the outdoor spaces much, but the inside was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful private home. The pictures do not do it justice of how gorgeous this home is. Enjoyed walking in the creek, and relaxing in the living room. I would definitely recommend for a peaceful vacation home. Lita was a fantastic host!

Will be coming back to this space!! So beautiful, every detail and amenity was available and thought through. Felt right at home & was able to bring the pups! We forgot a water bowl & Lindsey had one ready for us when we got there with plenty of paw towels and doggie bags!! Also, expect a pretty steep driveway! We have a 4-WD and AWD vehicle and had little to no problems. Thank you to Lindsey for offering this amazing space !

My dad and I had a great stay for Father's Day weekend. Not much luck fishing, but that's okay! We loved the screened in porch and ate all our meals out there. The kitchen had all the basics and we appreciated all the coffee supplies. I personally enjoyed the puzzles in the cabinet and did two of them! On our last night we drove out to the Childress Winery and to Shuckin' Shack for some oysters, highly recommend both places. We enjoyed our time!

The place was great, even though it was a very quick stay. The mattresses were very comfortable, place was clean & inviting. My wife really admired their garden and has now decided we are adding a butterfly garden to our farmstead. We would def stay again.

This is my second stay here, which I rebooked on the spot during my 1-night stay last year. I stayed 5 nights this time to attend a dance weekend at nearby Warren Wilson College, a mere 7-minute drive. The space was very clean and well equipped abd felt very private, despite actually being attached to the main house. The hosts were attentive and responsive to my needs and were friendly, helpful, abd informative when we happened to run into each other outside. Wildlife was abundant, and I really enjoyed watching whatever might happen along from my own front porch. Fireflies at night, birds galore, roosters crowing nearby, chipmunks, butterflies, and yes! I actually saw 2 bears one day, each at a separate time, wandering on different sides of the yard. One of hosts alerted me the day before that there were 2 in the yard, but I missed seeing that (he did send me photos), and the day I saw the bears, I sent him video and he sent me a photo of a coyote that had been out there earlier.

Everything was accurately described and very clean. We enjoyed our stay!

This was our second time staying at Steven's place. We love the location, which allows us to access historic downtown restaurants and concerts at Riverfront Park on foot and easily drive to beaches. And the apartment provides a comfortable and roomy space to rest and recover from all the fun!

The place was nice, neat and peaceful! I had a little issues getting in but Brian was prepared with alternatives. I would definitely stay here again!

David's place is great for anyone visiting Pitt County or the nearby Counties of Lenoir or Greene. The place is quiet and has all of the amenities for cooking and relaxing on a couch watching television, or sitting at the dining room table looking out the front kitchen window. The bathroom is clean and there is ample parking in the front for two cars. As a host, David answers questions and is thorough and explanatory. There may be living quarters on the other side of the building, but I did not hear anyone. Highly recommended for your next visit to the area.

Great place beautiful property

This was truly one of the most charming historic homes I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely at home. The space was beautifully maintained, full of character, and had all the little touches that made it feel welcoming and cozy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The hosts were wonderful—so friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests’ experience. As a lifelong Andy Griffith fan, staying here in Mount Airy (aka Mayberry!) made my heart so happy. It was the perfect home base for visiting all the landmarks and soaking in the nostalgia. Highly recommend this gem—thank you for a memorable and heartwarming stay!

This was our second family vacation to this rental and we were not disappointed. we watched the dolphins while drinking coffee off the balcony. walked down to the beach every day and enjoyed the convenience of having everything just steps away. Christine has chairs and beach toys available for you to use so it's perfect if you're flying in. I cannot recommend this place enough!

This place was beautiful! Fort Fisher is literally right next door! The place was clean,beautiful, quiet and had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook, the pool was well kept, and The view was hard to leave. Will be back. 🫶🏻

Amanda’s hidden gem was an amazing spot for me and my boyfriend to escape reality from! Check-in was very easy, and her space was very easy to find. Her space looks just like the pictures and we felt right at home. Amanda was also kind enough to supply some light snacks and coffee cups for the place which we were very grateful for! It was very clean, and we felt very safe and right at home. We were also able to have access to the country club, which we went for the hot tub which was so nice! The view from the balcony was amazing!! Overall, we loved our stay with Amanda and we will be back for a ski trip!! :)

The best experience I’ve had with a host I usually bring extra toiletries and trash bags etc but she had everything stocked any questions I had she responded right away I will definitely look for her next year when we go back also the easiest cleanup we’ve ever had

We had the most incredible stay at this stunning beachfront Airbnb in North Topsail Beach! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views of the ocean. Waking up to the sound of waves and sipping coffee on the private deck as the sun rose over the water felt like a dream. The apartment itself is beautifully maintained and thoughtfully decorated, with a cozy coastal vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, and the living space was ideal for relaxing after a day in the sun.

Anne was so wonderful to work with and her communication was excellent! Her place was not only beautiful, but it was the perfect location to both the beach and the pool! It had multiple private decks for our family to enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean. The house was spotless and has been very well maintained; and as an extra bonus- it included ALL of the linens including plenty of extra bath towels and beach towels! We will definitely be back for many years to come!

Great place to stay. Very relaxing. High tide is right up to the sandbags so you can access the beach until later in the morning which was fine for us. After that the beach is open all day. Highly recommend this place. We will be back.

This is my third stay at Hunter’s Airbnb and I’ve really enjoyed each trip! The condo is spotlessly clean and very airy, and has a stunning view out the large front windows. It’s well set up, with a surprising amount of room for stashing your stuff. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, and I loved taking walks there. There are also lots of hiking trails very close by, although a few are currently still closed due to damage from Helene. The internet is very fast and dependable, which is not always the case at Beech Mountain. I’ve used my stays as a writing retreat and always get a shocking amount done, while soaking in the lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be back!
