Cottage vacation rentals in Island of Hawai'i

I can’t wait to go back! We live in West Hawaii and came to see the volcano eruption. The house was so peaceful and beautiful and private I would have been fine just staying there enjoying the beautiful surroundings and listening to the raindrops on the tin roof. 5 minutes to Volcano and 3 minutes to Kilauea Lodge for dinner was perfect. Perfect Zen retreat! We will be back for sure.

This place is beautiful, We loved the cute layout of the house and it has an amazing view of the ocean!!!! The place was spotless and very welcoming. The kitchen was well stocked. There was a cooler and 2 beach chairs available when we arrived. The only downside was the distance to Kona at 1hour and 15 min. You will need to rent a car for this house. The driving is slow so it takes time to get anywhere on the island. Albert did a great job with recommendations. Be sure to check out 2 step. I would not recommend this house for more than 2 adults and 2 or 3 children unless you are ok with a packed house as it is cute but small. Overall we would stay again. While it is perfectly described on the listing, Todd’s places exceeded the expectations. The thoughtful details in the decorations and amenities really made the stay unique, genuine, and cozy. The place was perfectly sized for two people. The proximity to the volcano national park really made the early wake before sunrise to visit the park convenient - and Todd was thoughtful enough to message me notifying us that the lava fountains were active in case we wanted to see something truly remarkable, and we did. We try to visit the island often and I would absolutely stay at Todd’s place again.

Great location gorgeous views very friendly host, great communication took the time to give us delicious fresh Kona coffee for a Christmas gift, greatly appreciated everything... house was great with all the amenities...

My husband & I enjoyed our stay here. Everything about our stay was PERFECT! The aesthetic, the surrounding, the atmosphere and vibe was outstanding! We only stayed for a night but waking up to the view of a rainforest was beautiful. The hot tub was amazing especially when used at night because the air was crisp and cold. Very relaxing and peaceful. 10/10 recommend to anyone who considers staying here. We will be back!

Excellent stay in a beautiful space. Very grateful. The cottage is simple but very comfortable and has some unexpected luxuries like the beautiful bathroom and the hot tub by the porch. The pool is also a can’t-miss especially around sunset. Avocados are top notch as well! Thanks Christie!

Loved the art and the modern design! The house was immaculate, very quiet and full of light. The one thing I would note is that the mattresses may need to be replaced, and a water filter needs to be provided to remove the chlorine taste from the tap water. Thanks!

Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

Ka Hale Malie( The Peaceful House) This Airbnb is a hidden gem for those seeking peace and tranquility. Located in a serene area, it offers a quiet escape with the soothing sounds of nature. The information book provided was invaluable, making it easy to plan our days. The house itself was full of character and unique features, adding to the overall charm and ambiance. The spacious living area and beautiful deck provided ample space to relax, perfect spot for enjoying our morning coffee or evening cocktails. With a car, it's an ideal hub for exploring the Big Island. Just 30 minutes from Hilo airport, it's easy to find and located in a safe, friendly neighborhood. Close to the coast and great hikes, it's the perfect getaway. The features of the house and beautiful garden make it a place we'd love to return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway on the Big Island. Mahalo,

Autumn was so amazing and pleasant to use during our whole AirBnB reservation. We ended up not staying so to several recommendations about the area. When we informed Autumn she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and wanted to provide us reassurance that her home was safe. We still need up getting an other AirbNb, but just to make use feel comfortable!! This home is very cute and looks just like the pictures and Autumn makes sure you feel as part of her Ohana!

Aunty Janet & Uncle Paul showed plenty aloha to my brother and I. Since we first booked our trip two months in advance, Uncle Paul was quick with responding to our questions/concerns. We were grateful to find a peaceful escape from the busy concrete jungle. Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou!

Love the incredible viee of the lava fields of Kalapana. Its an eccentric and dope spot for sure! Mahalo for aforning the place with photos and the energy of tutu pele! I will be back again for sure

Me and my daughter had a wonderful time at Connie’s cottage!! There was beautiful nature and a very big tropical garden. Many different kind of plants, trees and flowers. The cottage inside is very spacious for two people with many needed supplies . Thank you, Connie, you are a great host! We hope we will come back next year🙂

Enjoyed the location and the stay. It was exactly as described and it was nice being surrounded by nature.

Gordon and Rhonda are conscientious hosts. They met us upon arrival, offered use of snorkeling and other gear and gave advice on things to see and do. Location is very convenient for West Island sites and activities.

Authentic Captain Cook setting and cottage. Very clean and secluded. Professionally managed. Great value on the Big Island.

We enjoyed our stay here very much! This is a gem of a find - so different than the usual condos or such when staying in Hawaii. The property and house was beautiful, and gives a unique look into the history of the region. The house, despite its age, was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We were a bit nervous staying in a historic house with small children, but everything breakable is up high and it ended up being perfect for our needs. Our kids loved the pool and we all enjoyed the fruit trees on the property. We didn’t mind the frog noises at night - it’s the tropics after all! Lisa was very helpful, responsive, and friendly. As for nearby activities - we mostly drove to Hilo or farther north for swimming, site seeing, hiking, or food. But there is a lovely zoo just a few minutes down the road and a grocery store nearby as well. Overall a wonderful place to stay!

We loved our stay here. It was quiet and private. The sunset views were amazing! The tiny house had everything we needed. The street to the house is interesting. Google maps will correctly direct you. But the first time you arrive should be in the daytime. It would be a bit challenging to find at night. But once you arrive, the view makes it worth the drive. We watched the lights of Kona at night far down the mountainside and could also see the cruise ships in the bay.

We had a great stay with Cheri. We were staying in the tiny house as a couple and therefore used the bigger bed in the roof. That was really cosy. It was amazing sitting in front of the house and looking for stars. The bathroom could be reached by walking some steps outside the house and was very clean. The hot outside shower was amazing! Electricity for charging phones and laptops was absolutely sufficient. Thanks a lot! We would love to come back!
