Cottage vacation rentals in Island of Hawai'i

We were on a family trip to the volcano park. Ari’s property has everything we needed to make this trip an enjoyable experience. The convenient location is such a plus because it only takes 10 minutes of drive from the entrance of the volcano park to the house, and you definitely don’t want to drive too far after a whole day of hiking. Also, it’s very quiet and safe in this neighborhood, ensuring us a good sleep every night. We look forward to coming back to Sri’s house next time visiting the area again!

A Nice cozy place with good views

Our stay at The Maid’s Quarters was absolutely charming. Every detail of the home, from its thoughtful decor to its cozy atmosphere, made for an incredibly relaxing experience. It felt like a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu life. The space was beautifully maintained, and the charming touches throughout the home added so much warmth and character. We left feeling refreshed and would highly recommend The Maid’s Quarters to anyone looking for a peaceful and delightful getaway.

I wish we booked it for another two days. :) It was amazing, the rooms and the bathroom can be heated during the cold evenings, and the dehumidifiers work fine, no strange smells, only the smell of wood and the forest around you. Everything was so comfortable, including the bed! Such a peaceful lovely place, with all the tiniest comfy details like coasters just at the right place where you need them for your tea, cuddly blankets next to the fireplace... Not to mention the tub! Such a treat to listen to the apapane and then the frogs from a steaming tub of water as the sun goes down! THE best place to explore the national park from! We would love to stay here again!

My husband & I enjoyed our stay here. Everything about our stay was PERFECT! The aesthetic, the surrounding, the atmosphere and vibe was outstanding! We only stayed for a night but waking up to the view of a rainforest was beautiful. The hot tub was amazing especially when used at night because the air was crisp and cold. Very relaxing and peaceful. 10/10 recommend to anyone who considers staying here. We will be back!

beautiful private location. the place was more than what I thought it would be which was awesome. a lot of times listing's do not look as pictured, but this place did. the communication was great. only tip is that one of the restaurants mentioned is no longer in business, but other than that I gave 0 complaints

Loved the art and the modern design! The house was immaculate, very quiet and full of light. The one thing I would note is that the mattresses may need to be replaced, and a water filter needs to be provided to remove the chlorine taste from the tap water. Thanks!

Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

I loved the landscaping and proximity to everything. you are somehow in the center of it all and away from everything at once. the grounds of the property are lush and large... absolutely fantastic for letting small kids spend their energy in a safe way. nobody felt cooped in. fantastic place for kids. jason was very prompt when I was having trouble with the keypad with a car sick child. it was my error, but his super fast responses went a long way to start our vacation right. his place was more than ample to host my family of 5 and we were all comfortable. He provided plenty of linens/towels/toiletries which was also very helpful oh.. and we loved his shower. great water pressure!! unexpected major perk. I'd definitely stay here again while visiting hilo. thank you so much

Location was great - convenient and close to everything you need. Jason’s communication was excellent, always responsive and helpful, which made the check-in progress smooth.

Kelly’s place was perfect. Quiet, private and lots of covered outdoor spaces with lots of room. The home was clean and had everything we needed. She even had a nice notebook filled with things to know and do around the area. We enjoyed our daily walks to the ocean and met lots of people enjoying the area. I would recommend Kelly’s place for anyone who wants to enjoy all that the East side of the Big Island has to offer.

We loved Autumn's jungle cottages and would recommend her place. Great for small groups with separate accommodations. Beautiful outdoor gathering bbq area and every kind of plants. highly recommend

Aunty Janet & Uncle Paul showed plenty aloha to my brother and I. Since we first booked our trip two months in advance, Uncle Paul was quick with responding to our questions/concerns. We were grateful to find a peaceful escape from the busy concrete jungle. Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou!

This was one of many stays I have had with jade at the MLT. it’s a great place to unwind and recenter. Always such a great time over on kalapana side and the temple is a great place to enjoy that side of the island. My friend forgot her jacket with her credit card and ID in it and Jade was very helpful and responsive. Very easy to get the jacket back with everything still in it!

Me and my daughter had a wonderful time at Connie’s cottage!! There was beautiful nature and a very big tropical garden. Many different kind of plants, trees and flowers. The cottage inside is very spacious for two people with many needed supplies . Thank you, Connie, you are a great host! We hope we will come back next year🙂

We had a wonderful stay at Kathyrn's place! It was exactly as described—peaceful, comfortable, and perfect for our family of five. We highly recommend staying here!

We flew in late, so didn’t get there until midnight- we had a bit of difficulty finding it in the dark. But we did and it was beautiful! Lots of birds and frogs and chickens to listen to. The inside and deck were all we needed! It was a great stay!! Thanks Megan!

Lovely open-air cottage on a small farm. The space seamlessly integrated with the natural surroundings - felt healing.

A nice location near Hilo, Lisa’s description of the cottage is accurate and does depict the past times of simpler life. Communication prior to our arrival was timely and accurate. We found the tree frogs relaxing at night and enjoyed the surrounding wildlife and nature. Noise machines provided for those that might not find the tree frogs as soothing as well as ear plugs. Other general amenities adequate. Exercise a bit of caution on the walkway to the Cottage because it can be slippery at times. Would recommend to those looking for a laidback, simple & historic vibe.

Hailey’s place was adorable with a great utilization of space. Lots a cool retro items like the appliances. Bathroom was spacious and the shower was wonderful! The bed was definitely a soft one as others mentioned and the road up to the place is steep. You will certainly want to do this the first time in the daylight, but once you do you figure out quickly it’s as easy as can be. Hailey has everything you could need to be comfortable and enjoy your daily adventures. I would definitely consider staying here again, and again.

A fun place for Hilo side! Just a short distance away are amazing black cliffs to enjoy the sunrise from, and you are greeted with quiet nights and all sorts of stars! Loved the outdoor shower.
