Family-friendly vacation rentals in Houghton Lake

Even with cold, rainy weather, we still had the best weekend staying here! The cabin is so cozy with everything we needed, we felt right at home. Being right in the water was fantastic, especially enjoying the view from the hot tub on the colder days. If you're in the area I would highly recommend staying here!

Extremely unique layout and design of house. The house easily accommodated our whole party and the deck, hot tub, River, and kitchens were wonderful. The house is fully stocked with all amenities that other AirBnBs often lack like towels, toiletries, kitchen appliances/basic spice/condiments. The property is densely forested and feels very secluded. Great stay.

This house is a great place to stay. We will be back for sure. We have friends and family that live near by. Fenced yard was perfect for our fur baby. This place was super clean. Updated. The angler's retreat was just what we were looking for. Private, secluded and very peaceful. Jeff & MJ provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. All we needed to bring was food and clothes. There was even fresh cookies for us to enjoy. Will definitely be visiting again!

Great place! Very cozy and comfortable. We booked another night after the first night and stayed Monday thru Friday. The gas fire place inside the cabin makes it warm and relaxing. There’s a stocked kitchen, so we made most meals at the cabin. The backyard deck over the water and fenced in yard was perfect for my pups to stroll around and sniff. We spent most of our time hanging out on the deck and hiking trails at the nearby state park. We didn’t really use the sunroom or the front yard.. horse shoes and bonfire available and fuse ball table (we couldn’t find a ball to play, but didn’t look very hard, so I’m sure it’s somewhere). Over all, it was a great stay and we’d love to come back here again!

Dorothea and her husband Glenn were fantastic hosts. They seemed just as excited as us to be there. Dorothea was very kind and outgoing, and very accommodating. Even checked in on us mid-way to make sure everything was to our liking. The location was just a few blocks away from Higgins lake, and house had a very neat theme and was immaculate. Our favorite part of the trip was seeing a family of deer every day and night! Thanks again. I would highly recommend!

This roomy, comfortable lakefront home provided a wonderful summer gathering spot for our eleven-member family. Sleeping bunks were ideal for out five grandsons as were the multiple bathrooms. The shallow walk out lake, paddle boat and kayaks kept them busy all day and the ample grassy area was perfect for lawn games. The large kitchen was well stocked and made meal preparation easy. The home was clean, well-organized and well stocked with anything we needed. Matt was a pleasure to work with from our first inquiries to our departure and beyond. Always providing a quick response to questions and detailed information about the home.

We had a great time at this property. The provided kayaks were awesome. House was huge with plenty of room for us to relax.
