Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Ashe County

I stayed at Eustace's "Stonehenge" cabin in Boone during the time I volunteered with a disaster relief organization after the Helene hurricane flooding. After long days of shoveling mud and tearing out wet drywall and insulation at work sites, returning to the cabin was a pleasant, quiet, and restful break. I loved the live edge wood work in the cabin, there was a warm gas heater and a wood burning fireplace. I also appreciated the convenience of the washing machine and dryer so I could clean my work clothes every day. Every evening, I'd sit on the back porch swing facing the wooded hills and re-set my mind after a hard day. I will be returning. I highly recommend Stonehenge.

Really recommended on winter season! The view was amazing. The house really worth the price. Very clean and cozy. Loved and I’ll come back next winter.

James was an excellent host and went above and beyond to accommodate us while we visited during a snow storm! This was the perfect spot for a weekend in West Jefferson! Loved being able to walk to everything!

Maria's place is indeed really cozy perfect for a retreat to disconnect from everything. Extremely peaceful and we loved the sound of the river on the background. So relaxing and healing. Slept like a baby on this cozy cabin. Great relaxing porch. Good kitchen , good nature view and just overall felt in love with. We went to disconnect and relax and we feel new. Great to write alone away from everyone. Maria is a great host too and very responsive. My wife and I would definitely return for spring or summer buy we still lived winter with snow and nature.

Love this place so much. We had the best family Christmas and the snow made it even better. So much room and the house is beautiful. Will stay again for sure.

Sadie’s Place was a a really peaceful and quiet getaway. It had a lot of space and plenty of beds for big groups and the property has some beautiful views and nice walking trails. It is convenient to West Jefferson and Sparta and there’s plenty to do in the region. I would highly recommend staying here and we plan to again!

Beautiful spacious home with amazing views of mountains around us. The kids enjoyed the movie theater and gaming room which was very helpful during our stay. The home was stocked well with every day items. We would definitely return to this home because of the convenience and proximity to Boone and to Appalachian Ski Mountain.

The home is just as listed and only a few minutes of highway 221. if you are visiting West Jefferson this is about a 15-20 minute drive into town which is great. The home was well kept and had everything that was needed. it is located on the far back side of a farm which way for a very peaceful and quiet setting. I definitely recommend it if you are visiting the area.

Such a lovely place to stay while we were visiting family in town! It was such a cozy haven and a great place to relax. Lucas was incredibly responsive and we had no issues whatsoever. Would definitely stay here again!

Lynn is a wonderful host who even let our dogs out while we were away. the apartment is small but functional and the backyard is amazing. will stay again!!

My husband and I have stayed here before for a work trip in the area and we knew we would love staying again. It was great for a little getaway and we always wish we could stay longer. It's in a great location, easy to get downtown Boone to local restaurants and, coffee, and shopping. We love the open floor plan and the use of space. We definitely plan to stay again and again! It would be a decent stay with kids too, so maybe we'll bring them next time. Great price for the space and location!

Ken's place was perfect for a long 3 night New Year's Eve visit. The location is perfect right on the main street in town. We never moved our car. Everything was within walking distance. Lots of restaurants, two breweries, and many wonderful stores to shop in. Our friends and my husband and I enjoyed the loft. It was very spacious for relaxing in the den. Also, there were two full bathrooms. We would highly recommend stay there.

This place was perfect for our small group of 4, we came into town with my college age daughter who plans to transfer to ASU next school year to check out the campus a little more, go to a game and see some off campus housing in the area. We almost didn’t come because of the winter weather that came in Friday but I am SO glad we did, this place was perfect for us to walk when we didn’t feel comfortable driving, was so close to everything and was quiet and just what we needed.

This is a very nice condo. It is well maintained and very clean. Great bedrooms and a very nice, large living room. The location is perfect for convenience to Blowing Rock. The host made things very easy. I would highly recommend this.

This was a great base for exploring the area — peaceful but lots to do within a short drive. The condo was as described and well-equipped for families with kids. Trey was responsive and helpful. We had a great time and would stay again!

David and Jennifer’s place was a perfect place to spend a long weekend full of skiing and mountain fun. Perfectly located to the local amusement of Beech Mountain, it was easy to access Beech Mtn skiing, as well as restaurants and groceries options. The property is clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped with all cooking tools (i.e. toaster oven, air fryer, waffle maker, microwave, coffee maker, etc.)-bring your own condiments, aluminum foil for baking sheets and lighter if you want to use the cozy fire place (you can purchase fire wood 3 min away at Fred’s Mercantile). Our family of 5 fit very comfortably. Added bonus, if you go in the winter months, the house has a couple of sleds that we used to sled down the hill in the courtyard of the condo at the bottom of the complex steps! Beautiful property, can’t image in how nice it would be to use the spacious side porch. Next time!! Thank you for having us!

Would definitely stay here again. The place was exactly as described. The only (small) issues we had were getting the heating in the house consistent and comfortable, and the upstairs bathroom door sticking. Also, I would say it was a little tight for 2 4-person families, and getting 4 kids out of snow gear and boots on the tight porch/entry way got a little difficult at times. But those are all our issues, and nothing to do with the rental itself.

Perfect for a ski weekend at Beech Mountain. Located just past the resort we were able to easily get to and from the condo.

If you plan for skiing at Sugar mountain ski resort, this is great place to stay. The place is very close to the ski resort, and the condo was very clean and cozy. The host was very responsive and helpful, and this place had pretty much everything that we need. (even wine and beer!!) I loved this place and really enjoyed my vacation during the weekend.

Craig and Kim's place was just what I wanted. Plenty of room, clean, with everything I needed for a wonderful family getaway. It's in a beautiful mountain area. We loved watching the deer from the window. They responded promptly to my inquiries. I will definitely stay there again when I'm in the area.
