Farmstay vacation rentals in Amherst County

Glasgow House was an amazing place for my wife and I to stay as we waited to close on a house in nearby Lexington. The rented area is spacious and peaceful. We enjoyed the beautiful art on the walls and made good use of the kitchen, which had everything we needed. The back patio was a joy. We spent many mornings watching the spectacular sunrises over the hills and almost as many evenings under a dark sky stargazing and listening for the howls of cayotes and the hoots of owls. Elise and Eric were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We often enjoyed walking around their property and along the gravel road, which leads to it and runs alongside the clear waters of the South River. The most memorable moments of our stay involved the numerous animals that share the property. The deer (including many fawns), woodchucks, rabbits, and turkeys were plentiful, and we also saw several bald eagles. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to spend some time in such a wonderful place.

Becky and Paul were wonderful hosts and the home was beautiful. Peaceful countryside and the viwes are spectacular.

Fairview is an absolute gem! This circa 1867 historic home provided the perfect setting for our family Christmas. The charm and character of the house made us feel completely at home, and the accommodations were nothing short of perfect for our entire family. The thoughtful welcome treats and fresh flowers were such a warm and special touch that made us feel instantly at ease. The home was clean and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed to pull off a wonderful Christmas dinner. The kitchen had all the essentials, making it so much easier to prepare and enjoy our meal together. The spectacular mountain views added a peaceful backdrop, and the resident peacock was a delightful surprise, bringing laughs and joy to our grandchildren. If you’re looking for a place that combines history, beauty, and comfort, Fairview is the perfect choice. We’ll cherish the memories we made here and hope to return someday!

Pictures don’t do this location justice. The entire property is gorgeous with 360 Mountain Views. There are cute local towns 5-15mins away and an easy drive. The cottage felt cozy with tons of historic charm, yet comfortable and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Our young kids loved the vast property to explore, having their own beds and the games stocked in the house. Celeste went above and beyond as a host and truly made our visit there memorable and special. Everything about our experience there exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t recommend the Icehouse or one of her other properties more.

We enjoyed our stay so much. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. We enjoyed our coffee in the mornings on the porch listening to the birds and the cows. Walking through the orchards and feeding the goats and donkey was a great surprise. It was the perfect get away to slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet. The recommendations given were perfect as well. We enjoyed dinner at Vito’s and lunch AND dinner at Woodruff’s Cafe & Pies! We will definitely will return!

We enjoyed our stay at Carol & Bernard’s place. It was well appointed with all of the necessities and it was super close to the Virginia Horse Center, which is what we were there for.

Would definiely recommend Laura's place for a mountain getaway in an authentic vintage but spacious cabin. Loved the back deck and preponderance of spring blooms. It's located on a busy byway but parking and unloading is on a driveway and easy. You can see mountain peaks and rolling hills in every direction. We had everything we needed. Bathroom was very pretty with a rainfall showerhead.

Ronald’s place was perfect for us! We came to the area for a dog trial and the farm setting was great for our dogs. It was soo comfortable of a place to stay, from the comfy couch to the fireplace (thermostat-controlled). It was extremely quiet and convenient for us. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

It was beautiful and peaceful. The house was clean and spacious and if he had any questions or needed help with something she was very responsive. It was a healing trip for our family and exactly what we needed. We hope we can return next year!

What a beautiful house and location! It's just what our large family needed. And Cindy--wow! What a host. Cindy extremely friendly and very accommodating. She does a great job maintaining the house and grounds. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better time away from all the hustle and bustle of life. Thank you!

Photos do not do this house justice- the view is impeccable, it’s large enough to accommodate many more people than we had in our party, it was immaculate, and it was lovingly stocked. A perfect landing pad for Lexington and the Valley. We’re just sad we only stayed one night! Already considering a return trip.

Nice views, peaceful setting. Plenty of space for a family of 4. Chessie Trail was great for running in the mornings, just a 1/2 mile from the house. We were there for a horse show and did not get to explore the area too much, but certainly seemed like there was plenty of hiking opportunities if we had more time.

This was an amazing getaway. The home is cozy, clean, and inviting. The property is private and beautiful. There were plenty of day activities for us to do with our dogs. Suzy checked to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable. She is a very gracious host. Highly recommend

Claudia was such a great host and incredibly accommodating and responsive with any requests. The view from the back of the house was so beautiful and peaceful. With a lovely running/ walking/ biking trail just a few miles away, we were able to enjoy a relaxing weekend away with some wonderful outdoor time. Thanks for having us!

This place is incredible! Stunning property and home. The charm of the house is lovely and it was the perfect place to gather with my friend group. For years we’ve done an annual “Friendsgiving” where we rent a place in the mountains. This home accommodated the kids and our large group. The kitchen was FULLY stocked like we didn’t need to bring any cookware for our Friendsgiving meal. I was super impressed! We all cannot wait to visit again, preferably in the summer months so we can try out the pool and all the fun games in the barn.

We had the best girls weekend at the farm with the pups! The home was beautiful and extremely clean and welcoming. The weather was too wet and rainy to enjoy the outdoor firepit area, but it was all set up for a cozy little bonfire had we been able to! Will definitely look to come back to explore more of the area and go on other hikes we didn't get to while there. The morning visits from the farm pups also made our days! A must stay!

We were there for a ski weekend at Wintergreen and everything on the mountain was booked. This place wasn’t far from the Ski Barn. The farmhouse takes you back 75-100 years. It was a real unique cozy place. It wasn’t a slope side condo, but it had a lot of real charm. I think we stumbled on a cozy gem.

Our family of seven spent two nights here to have family Thanksgiving, The drive to the house is very beautiful with mountains in the distance. The house was very spacious and clean. The integrity of the farm house itself is very warm, with many of the original floors and woodwork. The game room in the basement is a plus. Morning walks down by the creek give you an opportunity to be connected to nature. Very special visit and most definitely would recommend this charming home to others.
