Family-friendly vacation rentals in Alajuela Province

We had a wonderful week at Casa de Montana in Zarcero. The house is beautiful in a beautiful location. We especially loved the balconies with gorgeous views and that we could walk to restaurants. All of the hosts were incredibly attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this house for an amazing stay in the mountains of Costa Rica!

Beautiful home and amazing estate! The pictures don’t do this place justice. The hot tub and balcony is an amazing spot to watch the sunset. All the rooms were super clean and the beds were the best we’ve had while in Costa Rica. Super impressed with the land and so fun walking their trails. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. We got fresh bananas and their own grown coffee when we arrived. Would recommend!

The house was Beautiful with amazing views. Felipe was a great host. He was very responsive when trying to get info for different stuff prior to arriving. He helped with transportation as well. We didn’t stay long at this property however some of us wished we would have. The location was so peaceful with such a relaxing vibe to be able to unwind after a week of partying and running around. Location was not far from airport . Overall we enjoyed our time here.

I really enjoyed staying here. The Villa is really nice and comfortable. I really loved the jacuzzi and pool with the waterfall and the way it lit up at night was amazing.

Amazing home, great restaurants nearby and very close to airport and beaches

This was a beautiful Little cabin that we stayed in. It was quiet, peaceful and we felt very safe as it is a locked compound. David was extremely helpful-setting up Tours last minute for us and taking care of all the details for us! Would totally recommend staying here

We traveled with 3 small kids and stayed just over a month. We wanted to be off the beaten path but close enough that we could venture in if we wanted. The house was great. Other reviews mention it is kind of a strange layout with no living room and the 3rd bedroom upstairs (you consider to get in) but we loved it. I would stay here again no doubt. The best part of our stay was Ms. Doris. She is one of the best humans we have ever met. I can’t say enough good things about her. My family will miss her! The pool is huge and monkeys are everywhere. The town in a small village with a great sense of community. Amazing stay!

An extraordinary experience, we hope to return soon! A safe place for pets where they can feel free. We loved the private pool, the calm and quiet. The house is cozy, spacious and well equipped. It was like feeling at home. Our children enjoyed it to the fullest

This Airbnb was fantastic. In fact, we wish we cancelled one of our planned excursions to just spend time at the property. The property is lots of fun and the pool is great. We didn't stay long enough to use the open-air kitchen, but it was really cool. The room you sleep in is a quite small and a bit musty, but it was fine. Norwin was very helpful with us - we needed somewhere to store our luggage after checking out of our last location and before checking into his place. He helped us very proactively and coordinated is leaving our luggage with the cleaner, who then brought it to the property for us. It was fantastic.

This place is such a hidden gem! It’s in a peaceful mountain area with stunning views—perfect for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The building itself has a really unique and artistic style, which makes it stand out, and it’s just as beautiful inside. The property is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It felt like a home away from home. Pedro, the host, was very responsive and friendly, which made the experience even better. I’ve already recommended this place to a few friends, and I’ll definitely be keeping it in mind for a return trip. Highly recommend!

We had a very nice vacation, the location of the property is undoubtedly spectacular due to the views it has towards the ocean with some incredible sunsets, what was the communication with Don Luis Carlos was accurate and attentive.

we really enjoyed our stay at bio thermales! the hot and cold springs were great. the view was beautiful, and we could see a monkey from our balcony which was fun! the gave a great recommendation for a tour guide and transportation, Frank... he was fantastic! we were within easy distance of many activities! it sounded peaceful with the creek beside us and hearing the rain on the metal roof. the only thing that was not great was the netting on the windows there were a few that had holes or had separated from the wood so a few bugs and mosquitoes got in. thankfully, it wasn't too often so it was ok.

Jorge’s Villa Los Encinos is a great place to stay, offering a peaceful location near Parque Nacional Rincón de la Vieja and Liberia, away from crowds. It’s a great alternative to expensive mountain hotels, with a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature. Jorge, the host, is very hospitable and quick to address any issues, such as fixing a broken shower hose or light bulb. The villa has some minor shortcomings, such as missing blackout curtains and a lack of a dedicated workroom, but for the price, it’s a great value. The pool area is shared, not private as listed, and there may be construction noise nearby, though Jorge handled it promptly. Noise from animals, like barking dogs and roosters, is typical in Costa Rica. The kitchen lacks a table and chairs, but this can be worked around. Some cleanliness issues and outdated photos in the listing should be noted. Overall, the villa offers a wonderful, tranquil experience with a welcoming host.

This place was way above our expectations. It is a resort and is really beautiful. We had the big house for our family of 10, but there are small smaller cottages to stay in. Awesome restaurant, great staff, would do this again!

This was an amazing get away for my family. The pool is amazing the space is very spacious and the kitchen well equipped. It’s the perfect location for a big group we had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant near the house.

The house and the place is very nice, only to go to the pool area if there is a bit of access for people with motor disabilities. Everything is great, recommended.

Very beautiful villa, modern, comfortable and having all the amenities, the beach is very beautiful, is not busy, only inconvenience, plastics bring by the tides we picked up to help the environment! ( not really a big job! ) But the sunsets are really beautiful and make us forget everything. Edgar is a very responsive, helpful and pleasant host. We are at our sixth villa in Costa Rica, it ranks among our favorites and we will not hesitate to return. We recommend it!

I received a warm welcome at check-in; very friendly hosts. The location is lovely, with grand views of the surrounding valley and hills. The trees and garden make it a peaceful oasis. The apartment is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, as well as comfortable and cozy. Floor-to-ceiling windows make you feel like you are outside among the trees. The kitchen is better-equipped than you find in many Airbnb’s. As others have mentioned, you can walk to the town in about 15 minutes. There are also plenty of taxis in the town. I arrived in Atenas by bus, and had no problem getting around without a car. I would definitely recommend Cat and Yolanda’s place, and will stay there again in the future.
