Family-friendly vacation rentals in Alajuela Province

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Ana Maria’s home. The house is beautiful, tastefully decorated, modern and comfortable. It’s even nicer than the lovely pictures. We were there at Christmas time and so enjoyed the tree and all the decorations. Communication with the owners was excellent and immediate. You can’t beat the location, close to town with beautiful views! And the jacuzzi was amazing - what a treat! We will love to stay there again and explore more!

We had 2 families stay in this house and it was perfect for us. The property is gorgeous. The views are spectacular. The kitchen is stacked with everything you need. Louis and Carolina are super friendly and kind and offer all kind of help and local recommendations. We loved everything about this place.

Pictures don't do this home justice. It's absolutely stunning and the entire home is clean, and just gorgeous. Plenty of space for large families or groups! Felipe was super responsive and kind. We only had one night here before flying out and wish we had more time to enjoy this incredible space. Thanks for sharing it with us! Highly recommend this home x100!!

Our family truly enjoyed staying at Chiri Glamping. Our son had a great time climbing on the rock wall, swinging, sliding, and soaking in the hot tub. The bed and linens were the most comfortable of all our accommodations in 12 nights in CR - luxurious and plush. The bathroom was surrounded by nature and the shower products were soothing and relaxing, and everyone had their own robe. The essential oils were a nice touch, and the ac kept the room cool and inviting. We cooked dinner in the well stocked kitchen, and my husband got an amazing cocktail in the beautiful restaurant. The front desk staff was friendly, thorough, and escorted us to our room. The view overlooks Santa Elena and it was striking to watch the clouds come in and then go out within minutes. This is truly and special experience. We did hear music in the night from a nearby business and there was a bike race in the morning that woke us quite early, but in this convenient to town location, it is inevitable. Recommended!

Our stay at Arenal rooms was absolutely amazing! We had originally booked a different Airbnb out of town, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to a landslide, so we found Erick’s place and booked straight away. It did not disappoint! The pool and jacuzzi were such a bonus, it was great to have gated parking and the short walk into town was ideal for popping out for food and drinks. The first morning we woke up and spotted a fasciated tiger heron making a nest in the tree above, it was so special to watch. A magical stay, thank you!

The house is very beautiful, Raquel our point of contact is very responsive even on holidays. The bedding is comfortable. The location is ideal for crisscrossing the country as a central position in relation to the volcanoes, on the Pacific coast. Our stay was very nice in this house. Some noisy nights with young people listening to loud music in the street. We encountered a small problem with the fridge but Raquel was hyper responsive and found a quick solution and handled the issue very well.

The cabin is perfect. Its a little out of town but definitely walkable. It gave us access to everything we were doing on our trip. The traditional Costa Rican restaurant down the street is fantastic, some of the best food we had on the entire trip. David our host was absolutely amazing and easy to talk to. Everything we asked he was able to help with. Also want to point out that its gated and felt extremely safe. Would definitely consider staying here again when we come back to Costa Rica.

We traveled with 3 small kids and stayed just over a month. We wanted to be off the beaten path but close enough that we could venture in if we wanted. The house was great. Other reviews mention it is kind of a strange layout with no living room and the 3rd bedroom upstairs (you consider to get in) but we loved it. I would stay here again no doubt. The best part of our stay was Ms. Doris. She is one of the best humans we have ever met. I can’t say enough good things about her. My family will miss her! The pool is huge and monkeys are everywhere. The town in a small village with a great sense of community. Amazing stay!

Beautiful little pocket of green in the city! We stayed here the night before our early morning flight, and it was a quick five minute drive to the airport. Kenneth’s place includes the small touches that make it feel like home such as a few snacks and bottles of water. The garden is a beautiful oasis, and the washer and dryer were helpful, as we had wet clothes from our time at the beach. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Casa Pura Vida was simply lovely! The place was exactly as described with lots of games to keep you entertained. During my stay I had difficulties turning on the gas tank to turn on the stove and Norwin proactively asked if he could get the cleaning lady to come over to help get it working for me. I truly couldn’t have asked for a friendlier or responsive host! While there was a small portion of the road that was made of dirt/rock leading up to the house, it was very flat. Overall I had a wonderful time staying here! Pura vida!

This is a good place to stay in La Fortuna and Jonathan is a great host. He shared local recommendations and also provided a link for us to get discounts on some of the activities. There were a couple of issues during our stay mainly due to the amount of rain but Jonathan was prompt and proactive in taking care of them.

Great place near the airport and amazing host

This place is such a hidden gem! It’s in a peaceful mountain area with stunning views—perfect for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The building itself has a really unique and artistic style, which makes it stand out, and it’s just as beautiful inside. The property is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It felt like a home away from home. Pedro, the host, was very responsive and friendly, which made the experience even better. I’ve already recommended this place to a few friends, and I’ll definitely be keeping it in mind for a return trip. Highly recommend!

I loved it, the apartment was well equipped, super clean. The social areas are beautiful. I hope to return soon.

we really enjoyed our stay at bio thermales! the hot and cold springs were great. the view was beautiful, and we could see a monkey from our balcony which was fun! the gave a great recommendation for a tour guide and transportation, Frank... he was fantastic! we were within easy distance of many activities! it sounded peaceful with the creek beside us and hearing the rain on the metal roof. the only thing that was not great was the netting on the windows there were a few that had holes or had separated from the wood so a few bugs and mosquitoes got in. thankfully, it wasn't too often so it was ok.

Perfect place for our family. Kids LOVED the pool. Jorge was the most pleasant host. Wish our travel plans allowed us to stay longer.

The house and the place is very nice, only to go to the pool area if there is a bit of access for people with motor disabilities. Everything is great, recommended.

We recently stayed at "Pie in the Sky 2" in El Castillo de La Fortuna, Costa Rica, and it was nothing short of magical! Nestled in a breathtaking landscape, the Airbnb boasts stunning views of Lake Arenal and the Volcano that promise to enchant any nature lover. The manicured grounds, sparkling pool, and jacuzzi were all fantastic. Its location is also incredibly convenient, just a stone's throw away from a variety of excellent restaurants and must-visit local attractions. Make sure to try Restaurante El Patio al Carbon for some great eats! Also, our favorite spot to eat was “Soda La Fortuna” - Amazing food & prices! Our host, Augustin, was welcoming and helpful. While staying here, we went zip lining, did a hanging bridges hike through the rain forest, and also visited the La Fortuna waterfall. Everything was pretty close by. We highly recommend this Airbnb for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Costa Rica in a serene and beautiful setting. A true gem!

Edgar's home is located on the best beach we've ever stayed at. The home was perfect for our family of nine people. And Edgar was one of the best hosts we've ever worked with - very helpful, proactive and responsive. Highly recommended.

I received a warm welcome at check-in; very friendly hosts. The location is lovely, with grand views of the surrounding valley and hills. The trees and garden make it a peaceful oasis. The apartment is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, as well as comfortable and cozy. Floor-to-ceiling windows make you feel like you are outside among the trees. The kitchen is better-equipped than you find in many Airbnb’s. As others have mentioned, you can walk to the town in about 15 minutes. There are also plenty of taxis in the town. I arrived in Atenas by bus, and had no problem getting around without a car. I would definitely recommend Cat and Yolanda’s place, and will stay there again in the future.

Beautiful spot - views beyond compare! The home was comfortable, especially the primary suite. It was clean and well-stocked. Be warned about the long steep driveway up to the home though. We arrived after dark and it was challenging even for mountain people. If you arrive in daylight and have 4 wheel drive, you should be fine though. Luis Carlos was not on site, but he was very helpful and communicative and his caretaker William met us there to show us around. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a rural, remote location that is incredibly beautiful!
