Guesthouse vacation rentals in Alajuela Province

Silvia was a wonderful host and the local groundskeepers were lovely as well. Silvia went above and beyond, helping us to communicate to the airline regarding our luggage that didnt arrive. the place was exactly as posted and an amazing value, and was perfect for what we needed. it was wonderfully located from all the sights, and perfectly secluded for our family with little kids. We would love to stay here again when we come back to Cosra Rica!

Jose was very nice and flexible, even though I booked last minute. The apartment was clean and finally I found a place where there was a proper size bed for 2 adults.

This apartment is good, just as described in the listing. It's equipped with everything necessary and all appliances and WiFi work well. Good stay!

We really loved this Airbnb. The small casita was very comfortable, had great views, friendly animals that came to say hello regularly and was close to lots of activities near the lake and town. The space felt clean, super safe, and homey. We will definitely book again, our favorite place near the lake so far!!

A very well appointed hostel. Kitchen had good cooking facilities including microvave and blender. Rooms had good space and comfortable beds. A good hot shower. Staff are very knowledgeable about local things, transport options and always available to help. Vanessa in particular was a stand-out. A great stay at the hostel. A pity that in Monteverde it is practically impossible to hike anywhere except on private property trails that are overpriced.

We enjoyed staying at Cat’s and Yolanda’s home. Even though there is shared common areas, we felt very comfortable and private. Afternoon swims in the pool and lounging in the hot tub was relaxing. Quiet mornings in the upper deck were peaceful and you could hang out and enjoy the gorgeous valley view. We are fairly active so walks into town were very doable. Atenas has a good mix of tourists and locals and is a friendly town.

Laurie and Barbara were excellent hosts, going over and above expectations at every turn. They were extremely helpful when our rental car had a flat tyre, driving out to find us on the main road to Tilaran. Laurie changed the tyre for us because the rental car didn't have the correct tools. Laurie and Barbara drove us to places and restaurants we would not have otherwise found. The views from the road above Lake Arenal are truly spectacular. The Casita is fairly close to many unique attractions. It is quite private and quiet, except for some men who were working on a building next door. The tastefully decorated Casita has a beautiful view of Lake Arenal from the back yard. It has an excellent washer and dryer, a comfortable king sized bed, a lovely bathroom and a comfy couch for watching TV. The kitchen had enough equipment for basic food preparation, which we appreciated. Any time of day it was great to spend time soaking up the sun and bird watching/listening. We saw/heard hummingbi

Our stay at Joe and Joanne was more than perfect! If we could give more than 5 stars we would. The view from the house is stunning. The sunset amazing. The perfect place to begin our trip to Costa Rica! Very serene and beautiful place. The house is beautiful, very clean, well equipped. The hosts are so welcoming and nice! Joe showed us around the property, gave us great recommandations and advice for our activities and he cooked us a delicious breakfast! We even got the chance to see wild horses ! We would definitely recommend.

Great place with a fantastic view

It is a wonderful place next to a River. I really enjoyed my stay. Marianela was a great host. She even went shopping with me on my first day because I had no car. The property is located off any Traffic noise… but since it is quite close to the airport you hear the airplanes starting around 4:30 am. The hot tub only gets to 35 degrees C and takes a while to get warm . But it was still nice to relax in the horrible. I would come back!

I stayed for one month. I was working from the home and really appreciated the view from the balcony as I did- it is phenomenal. Iguanas and birds were easily observable. There is both a restaurant and a . small soda right down the street. As a solo traveler, Milagro treated me as family and always made sure I was ok and taken care of. She was very available for conversation, help and recommendations. I was there without a car so I very much appreciated her willingness to take me to the store. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well-appointed. It is a nice size place that has everything you need. The pool was fantastic, especially under the stars. Be aware that, as is common for the rural areas here, the noise of cattle, roosters and dogs is very present even through the night. You will find earplugs and a white noise soundtrack helpful for that. Pura Vida!

The place is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Very comfortable, nice, with A/C and it also has a laundry room. Definitely an option to go back. The hostess was always attentive to any questions.

Liz and Kevin are wonderful hosts and always made time to chat with us about recommendations for exploration. Liz led us on a hike through the trails and Kevin showed us the orchard and all the avocado trees. It's a remarkable property. I would suggest however that anyone planning to explore offsite rent a 4WD. The listing is exactly as described and we thoroughly enjoyed having a delicious breakfast served to us every morning at whatever time we wanted. We loved our home cooked meal (casada) by neighbour Doris!

We loved this place. It was right in the heart of it all but tucked around in behind such that you had a nice view from our private deck, use of the pool, fire pit and tree swing. The garden was lovely, the pets were friendly but not annoying. Inside the place was clean and had everything we needed. The bed is firm but comfortable enough. Would definitely recommend this place.

Even though we stayed only 1 night, we really enjoyed Dani and his wife's property, hospitality, and the stories they shared with us at the outdoor patio under the moonlight. Kids enjoyed watching the soccer game, then spent few hours playing in the field right at the property. The property is well maintained, clean, safe, and in a good neighborhood. He and his wife took few of us to the wholesale farmer market at night to hunt for the tropical fruits, especially the soursop (guanabana) per our request. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. One side of the property has 4 rooms with AC (6 single bunk beds in each) and 4 bathrooms. The other side has a kitchen and dining room; and few more rooms with fans only (and bunk beds) & bathrooms. Weather is cool down at night in March. Overall, everyone enjoyed our stay and wanted to stay longer. It will be our first choice to stay if we are back to San Jose. Thank you so much Dani and the Wife!

This stay was amazing. The casita is beautifully designed with loving attention to details making our time there an absolute pleasure. The bathroom is spacious, the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need, the mattress is unbelievably comfortable, the views are a dream. We had such an amazing time here. There are so many fabulous people and family-friendly events and activities. It was such a gift to spend time in this community. The absolute best part was the hosts. They were so kind and generous, going way above and beyond in every possible way - true Superhosts. This stay was nothing short of magical. Consider yourself blessed if you ever get a chance to stay here ❤️

We had a wonderful time. We stayed here because we were close to family in the area, that being said it would be a great place to stay regardless. Maribel was very responsive and an excellent host. Thank you for everything. We would definitely stay here again.

My stay on this Airbnb was perfect. The place was spotless, with all necessary amenities and an ideal location. Communication with Jose was excellent; he was always quick to respond to any inquiries. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to return soon.

La Casita is a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings. Everyday we got to see the mountains in different appearances in different weathers, right from the comfort of home. The house is equipped with everything you need for a long stay: living space, fully equipped kitchen and dining space, bed with blankets and pillows, wardrobe, TV, private attached bathroom with hot shower as well as washer and dryer, car parking, good WiFi. The patio is nice for chilling, eating or even working, with the views of the lush greenery and sounds of birds. Nancy is a very nice host, friendly, welcoming and kind, always willing to help and always available whenever we needed something. She is a lovely person who felt like family. We would love to return to this place someday.

We had a wonderful stay for four days in this lovely cabin which looks exactly as on the pictures. It is located in the middle of nature and you can hear the howling monkeys in the morning and evening hours. The kitchen is great for cooking. We loved everything about this place, especially the friendly host family who is super caring.
