River Road Retreat was a delight to stay at, and Peter and Rebecca lovely hosts. The cottage is beautiful, clean and in a gorgeous setting surrounded by fields, and with stunning views to the hills in the distance. We loved the welcome bottle of wine and yummy nibbles, as well as the delicious breakfast served every morning. The air is fresh and clean, the water absolutely pure, and after three days we’ve returned home refreshed and reenergised. Wonderful!! Big thanks from us!!!

Gorgeous little cottage in the most beautiful setting down a tree lined lane and set upon a picturesque valley stream. The cottage is perfectly comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing little home away from home.

I felt so welcomed into Jennifer’s home, perfect home stay. The peaceful surroundings were amazing, highly recommend the outdoor bath. I would recommend this home stay.

We had a fabulous stay. Very close to the township and also a great swimming spot. Liana was kind and welcoming as was Pipi, her dog. We felt lucky that she shared her piece of paradise with us. The tramps, walks and scenery is incredible - Fenian caves amazing. Thanks Liana

Many convenient touches to make our stay comfortable, even a washing machine complete with washing powder! Most appreciated. Jacuzzi was actually a large outdoor bathtub, but we used it anyway. Warm welcoming space. Lovely hospitality and surroundings.

Besides hearing a pump on n off during the day(wasnt irritating, just wasnt expecting it) The time at Kate's Air bnb was AWESOME: peaceful, relaxing, enjoyed hearing the birds n animals, lovely short walk to river where you could just sit down n chilax, paddle or swim. Was a nice tidy house

Our stay at the cottage was lovely. We unfortunately were delayed coming in from the states which put us arriving Christmas Day with everything closed. Caroline was super fast in responding to us as we updated her and offered to grocery shop for us so we could arrive and still cook. She was so generous and welcoming, even showing up the next day with fresh bread! The cottage is very cozy and the property is serene. Brightwater is also a great middle ground for the northern part of the South Island. We loved this being our first stop.

Beautiful spot close to Abel Tasman National Park. The cabins have everything you need. The park is dog friendly. Steve is very welcoming and friendly and organises pizza nights where the dough is provided and you bring your own toppings. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to join.

Another fabulous stay. Phil is a great host, the house is perfect for our family and location is superb. Magic!

Wow this really is a perfect pocket of paradise. Absolutely idyllic location with stunning views and nothing but the sound of the wildlife. Loved the retro furnishings and views from every window. Elspeth is the perfect host making us feel welcome from the minute we arrived and helped us plan our itinerary for our short stay. Mapua is a pretty little harbourside village only a 10 minute drive away and well worth a visit. We would definitely come back and this time for longer. Thank you Elspeth!

Such a lovely peaceful cottage that fitted our needs for myself and my 2 X children. Everything you needed was provided and the cottage was a gorgeous perfect escape! Ducks and Pūkekos in the pond, my kids loved feeding the eels (if you so wish) in the stream and Deborah was so welcoming to the region. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a serene and tranquil little space I would happily come here on my own for some relaxation! Super close to supermarkets, the Main Street and cafes and shops! Thank you so much!

The cottage is a little oasis surrounded by nature. We were welcomed by a hand written card, lemons from the garden and raspberry jam. Anna is an excellent communicator, very thoughtful and super responsive. The cottage itself is very well equipped, comfortable and spacious. We would absolutely recommend the cottage to our friends and family. We hope to be back in the future.

We loved it here. I interesting to learn about organic citrus and avocado farming. Christine and Dave were both friendly and responsive. The unit itself had everything we needed. We liked that it was in Rototai and so close (walkable) to the bird sanctuary/estuary. It was a great base from which to explore Farewell spit, Wharariki. beach, as well as Wainui Falls and Abel Tasman Trail. Kitchen was very functional with good supply of dishes and a good saucepan and frying pan. Firm bed; good pressure shower. We would be happy to come back someday.

Fantastic place, off the beaten track. Gina very responsive and supportive of our very late arrival. Sadly we didn't have time to use the pool but looked gorgeous.

We stayed here as a base for a few day hikes in the Abel Tasman National Park. It was perfect for this, with water taxi pickup points a walkable distance from the cottage. It was very peaceful place to come back to in the evenings with a lovely view of the ocean. So much of Marahau is walkable from here and it does have that classic kiwi holiday vibe to it.
