Barn vacation rentals in River Dart

We had a wonderful stay at Bridesmere over New Year and it was just what we needed. Peaceful, beautiful area, lovely comfortable home from home. We appreciated the enclosed garden for our spaniel, the beautiful and spacious bedrooms and the living area which was large enough for all 7 of us, two families. WiFi was strong upstairs so no issue with all of us connected and the tv had all apps we needed to watch films with no buffering. There is a beautiful walk through the forest along the river just minutes from the house which leads to a very nice pub serving good food. As other reviews mention, the kids room smells a little musty/damp but this was not a huge issue and we opened the bathroom window after showering which helped. Kitchen well stocked but knives are a little blunt! Children loved the games barn and not having to bring bikes with us was really helpful and appreciated. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay and we would definitely return. Thank you for having us.

This place was a fantastic find; it was so cosy yet spacious. It had charm and character. The kitchen had everything you needed including a good coffee machine. It was in a beautiful village with 2 pubs within walking distance - both very different but both wonderful. Good location to get out and about and discover local beaches and towns. Giles was helpful with his recommendations and his response times to my questions were very good. I would not hesitate to recommend this house and we hope to return at some point :-)

Lovely stay at the Apple Loft. Unusual property and perfect for my husband, me and the dog. Well equipped, lovely and warm. Easy check in and good advice about the local area. Not good for any visitors with mobility issues as steps etc but worked very well for us. Beautiful sheep in the field outside the Apple Loft door. Would recommend!

The views from Cider Barn are so beautiful. We watched a barn owl hunting over the fields at dusk and dawn and the sound of a tawny owl whit wooing as I was going to sleep was magical! The living room / kitchen / dining is light and open plan and when I was there the sun was streaming in from sunrise to sunset. Loved watching the sunset with the owl hunting! Really enjoyed my stay here. It's an old barn - so the floor boards are a bit creaky but it is a special place.

We had such a lovely time staying at Sandra's! We were a couple with a 1 year old and thought the space was perfect for the three of us. We really appreciated the travel cot provided, and our daughter loved the baby swing in the garden. We couldn't get enough of the beautiful views, and the space with the fireplace was so cosy for a cold winter's stay! Sandra was a great host, very welcoming and helpful, and the recommendations for places to eat were spot on. We'd very happily come back, as it was the perfect location for visiting Exeter, Totnes, and Buckfastleigh!

Our stay at The Dairy was perfect. The accommodation was peaceful and a great base for our trip. The lounge was a lovely light, sociable space for us all to chill in. The log burner was fab. There was plenty of room for the four of us in The Dairy and at no time did we feel cramped for space. The garden was ideal for our two labs and well fenced so no concerns about possible escapees!! The outside seating area was great for an afternoon sit and a drink. The pub just up the road (The Springer) looked lovely but I would recommend booking if you want to eat there as we didn’t book and then couldn’t get a table….. We would definitely stay again 😎

Property is really nice. Felt very clean. Really nice location. Very quiet (albeit the neighbours dog is rather bark-y, but that’s completely out of their control so can’t ‘mark them down’ in any way shape or form). Hosts were super friendly, greeted us on arrival, messaged us prior to arrival, and have a really helpful little binder in the living room of everything local to do, see and visit. Bathrooms were all super clean, kitchen is REALLY well equipped, even down ti baking paper, cling film, soap etc. Upstairs bedroom where we stayed was nice and warm and the cool little window looking over the living room was a nice unexpected touch. 11 out of 10. Would absolutely stay here again.

A great picturesque location, overlooking the river. Perfect for walks and just a short drive to many beaches. Inside it was very clean with modern appliances and a comfy bed. The welcoming biscuits and milk were a nice touch. While Bee was very friendly and on hand, if needed for any suggestions of good local places to visit and eat. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing converted barn in very peaceful and serene surroundings. Highly recommend for a quiet weekend away. Sue was a great host, good communication and instructions regarding check in and check out. I thought the guest book with local recommendations was a nice touch which a lot of thought had obviously gone into.

We had a fantastic night at the Shippon. We loved the style of the property and felt very relaxed whilst there. We got some nice food from Bens farm shop which is just 10 minutes drive away. We enjoyed a couple of nice circular walks from the village along lanes and bridleways. The plant nursery up the road is worth a visit if you enjoy gardening/plants.

We had a lovely relaxing stay with our 2 dogs. The barn is even better in real life. It was spotless and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy, the bath a welcome bonus and the kitchen well equipped. The location is great. 20 minutes drive away we were on the moors and spent a lovely day stomping about. We highly recommend the barn for any couple for a relaxing break away ☺️

We had a lovely stay- the accommodation was exactly as described, had everything we needed, was clean and cosy. Lovely and quiet in a private lane but in easy walking distance from the nearby precinct with a variety of independent shops and attractions like Babbacombe Model Village. Would stay there again.

Lovely stay in peaceful surroundings. Beautiful view from the hot tub/ garden with sheep for neighbours! Kitchen best equipped we’ve ever stayed in with free range eggs provided and well stocked essentials. Comfy bed, warm cottage and would love to stay again. Claire is very responsive and friendly. Highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. We had all the amenities we needed for our short break. Everything was spotless. It felt easy to make ourselves at home and we had a very comfortable stay. Great communication from Maria too

Katie and Ruby (the family’s gorgeous 14 year old golden retriever) made us feel very welcome when we arrived and the cream tea that Katie provided was yummy. The accommodation had everything we needed and if it had been warmer we would have enjoyed sitting outside on the private patio, overlooking fields. The local area was peaceful and Tavistock was only a few minutes drive away. We had a lovely time staying here and hope that everyone else does too.

Three of us used Beck Barn as a base to walk the South West Coast Path in Devon’s South Hams. Beck Barn is spacious and well equipped. It’s set in a very tranquil valley. Fiona and David are great hosts; friendly and always responsive. The laundry room is a real bonus after days of hiking, and we also enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool. The access to Beck Barn is a mile-or-so along narrow Devon lanes with passing places, so practice your reversing technique! Overall great stay; we’d happily stay again.

My stay at Frances’ was absolutely lovely- she made us feel very welcome from the offset! The place is very charming and homely- I’ll be back for sure if I return to this neck of the woods!

We came to the barn to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends and we absolutely loved it! The house is beautiful and so unique - perfect for hosting and gathering friends/family. The views surrounding the house were rolling hills of countryside and some gorgeous local walks - it really felt like being in the middle of nowhere. Venetia was so friendly and welcomed us with flowers and a bottle of wine. Perfect stay, thank you!

I received regular communication from Alison prior to arriving, all the information provided was extremely helpful and informative. The accommodation itself was amazing, everything you would need, the whole place was spotlessly clean, spacious, warm and inviting, would definitely recommend this 100% and look forward to going back. Fantastic place with fantastic hosts!!

Wow! What a stay at Swift Barn we had full of wonderful memories. Swift Barn is full of amazing touches, it’s cosy with loads of space for little ones to run around and the most comfiest beds! It’s ideal for two families to share with lots of communal space but equally private areas of the barn for sleeping. We wished it was that little bit warmer so we could take advantage of the space outside! The location is great, idyllic in the gorgeous countryside with lovely views. There is lots to see within a short drive. Kate is an exceptional host, brilliant communication. Thank you! We highly recommend a stay at Swift Barn.

Very well thought out property, specially for visitors with pets.Very central to all major beauty spots in the area and that’s why we chose it.Far enough away from the main road and other neighbours to enjoy the peaceful setting.We spent most of the days out and about but it was really nice to come back and enjoy peaceful evenings.

We had the most wonderful stay here! The location is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The instructions to find the cabin were very clear, and there was lots of useful info provided by Michael and Caroline that made our stay easy and comfortable. The cabin itself is cozy and well-equipped with everything in the kitchen, bathroom etc being very new and modern. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the place - we absolutely loved the homemade jam! The bed was super comfy, and the whole place had such a warm and welcoming vibe. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!
