In 1946 my parents lived here, using the upstairs as dad's veterinarians office. I've remodeled it using their doors, sinks, and artwork, an Amish made bed & bedding, and included locally made soaps & coffee. My parents were simple, peaceful, and relaxed, and I hope you feel that during your stay. This unique building has one bedroom, one bathroom, a small living area with a pull-out couch and kitchen. It is located just minutes away from downtown Berlin, local farms, bakeries and so much more!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay than what we experienced at The Mad Cat Inn! From the moment we arrived, everything was spotless—truly one of the cleanest places we’ve ever stayed. The attention to detail was exceptional, and it was clear that our hosts genuinely care about providing a first-class experience. The beds were incredibly comfortable, with fresh linens that made it easy to unwind after a long day. The towels were soft, clean, and felt brand new. We were especially impressed by the thoughtful selection of high-quality toiletries—something you don’t always find in short-term rentals, but such a welcome touch. The large hot tub was an absolute highlight—crystal clear, perfectly maintained, and a dream to relax in under the stars. Add to that the fantastic location—convenient yet peaceful—and you have a gem of a getaway. We’re already looking forward to coming back, and we can’t recommend The Mad Cat Inn highly enough.

Stephanie's dwelling was stunning with beautifully appointed details and surrounded by the most gorgeous landscape and unexpected yet lovely river view! She is a gracious host who was proactive, responsive and kind in her communications. I absolutely loved how peaceful her home was as it was a perfect week long stay and getaway during a holiday week with family. I had everything I needed and more. I typically stay in a hotel in Dublin when I visit my little brother and his family but this will be "my home away from home" and I'm grateful to Stephanie and her family for sharing space with me this holiday season!

The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. However, the best end to the evening was to relax in the hot tub! I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone

The cabin was easy to find, close to conveniences and our youngest absolutely loved the pond! It was a plus not having to find someone to keep our 5yo dog, she loved roaming the property and being with the kids out at the pond. Used the grill for burgers and campfire for smores a couple of nights. Just for reference, the mattress for the bed was very, very soft. That was the only inconvenience. We are used to a very firm mattress at home. My husband didn’t sleep well. Other than that and sadly a lot of rain, all was well! We did bring a movie projector and sheet for a family movie night and connected to our phones. Holmes county is just so beautiful and peaceful. We love it. Hershberger’s farm was a big hit for the whole family, check it out when you visit! This cabin worked well for us!

I was only here for one night as I was just passing through, but this rental was perfect for myself and my two dogs. After being on the road for 8+ hours, the hosts invited me to let the dogs use their LARGE fenced-in pasture to run around and blow off some steam. It was exactly what they needed after such a long ride. They also helped me store some frozen foods in their freezer so it didn’t spoil. The property is very peaceful and private, so if that is what you’re looking for, rent this place confidently.
