The information centre is next door as is the 4 square, fish n chip shop and the Opononi Pub! The cottage, which we treasure, has been refurbished - it is our private oasis and is to be respected and enjoyed - it is the genuine much loved "kiwi bach".

Kukupa cottage is a three year old cottage on the top of a hill overlooking Kowharewa bay. It is on a piece of lovely land that has another house next door but is very private. It is lovely and warm with everything you need for a winter getaway. In the summer it gets all day sun that needs to be blocked but there are blinds along the front which you may need some of the time. There is a lovely wooden deck at the front also, with a roll out awning.

Houhora is surrounded by lots of fabulous NZ beaches.

We stayed for 4 nights and wished we had stayed longer. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful surrounded by bushland. Daniel and Denise were super friendly. We had the most enjoyable time and would highly recommend this accommodation to family and friends. We hope to visit again sometime.

Very nice and comfortable studio. In the morning, you'll for sure enjoy the view on the lovely garden and the Bay. It is closed to Paihia so you can take ferries and explore the Bay of islands. I personally went to Russell. Very cool! Calm, lovely and the Long Beach is a nice spot.

Pauline and Ross were amazing hosts. It was great to meet you both and talk surfing adventures. We felt right at home and would HIGHLY recommend The Barn. We absolutely loved the location and how peaceful it was. We enjoyed an afternoon visit from the chookies too. The proximity to the beach was amazing. It was just right there. The place is fully equipped with a great kitchen and had everything you would need for a couple Days or a couple weeks. Thanks again for having us. Hope to be back in the future. This is the kind of place I’d give 10 stars if you could.

We stayed 10 days at The Miner’s Cottage and honestly, I could have stayed forever. The cottage was an absolute gem - quaint, comfortable, quiet and private and best of all, within walking distance of a fabulous beach and ice cream shop! There is so much to do in the Far North and this cottage is a lovely place to base yourself in while exploring all the attractions this part of the country has to offer. Bachman was always responsive with any questions we had. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough and would definitely stay again.

Paul and Katalina place was a perfect stop,it was in a very private part of their lodge looking out towards Karekare beach and farmland. The bed was super comfortable which was so needed after two bad ones. Takeaways close by for dinner and a beer. Will def be back to stay and would highly recommend A++++

Kanuka loft is a private hideaway nestled in the NZ native bushes with an astonishing view of the ocean. Surrounded by the chirps of native birds (tui, fantail, waxeye, tomtit - to name a few we saw) and fall asleep to the sounds of native kiwi calling out to each other! Short drive to town and the ferry. Had a wonderful time, Anna was an amazing host, very responsive and helpful.

We were attending a wedding at nearby Motutara Farm but with a 1 year old camping wasn’t a great option. Peter’s place at Moureeses Bay was just what we needed - cosy, homely, right on the beach to keep the little one occupied, and with the weather turning it on we couldn’t believe the morning sunrise views, the clear water right on the doorstep, and the beautiful night sky. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some beautiful, peaceful surrounds!
