This is one of the best airbnbs I’ve stayed at. Situated on the coast of some of New Zealand’s best beaches, the property has easy walking access to a small private beach or enjoy Matapouri which is only a very short drive away. The property has every thoughtful amenity you may need which was so helpful if you want to bbq and eat at home. It’s fitted out to a super high standard with comfortable beds, linen and a great shower. It’s immaculately clean, nestled in stunning surroundings. Our host Angela continuously went above and beyond to offer the most outstanding service including fresh tomatoes from the garden and baked birthday muffins for my friend who was celebrating. If that wasn’t enough Angela offers massage therapy from her home which was reasonably priced and out of this world. A truly relaxing place, gorgeous quality and phenomenal host, I hope I can return to enjoy again!

Kay was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The view was spectacular. Her home had all the amenities that we needed. The shopping centre and the beach are both in walking distance and a great fish & chip shop is on the corner of her street. Would stay again if ever in New Zealand. Thanks Kay

Joan is a thoroughly charming host and the place is exactly as advertised, very clean, very comfortable. The view of the Bay is simply magnificent. We also followed Joan’s advice and did the short (steepish!) walk up to the lookout at historic Flagstaff Hill — stunning 360 degree views (and an excellent history lesson!). We had two lovely meals at Gables (on the Strand, looking out across the bay as the sun set) — it’s barely 5 minutes walk into town; a bit longer on the way back because you’re walking uphill (but we’re not spring chickens and we managed just fine). Highly recommend spending at least a few hours on Urupukapuka Island: Otehei Bay is a wonderful, relaxing place for a swim and the walking trails around the island are also great. I wish we had planned a longer stay and very keen to return.

Well equipped kitchen, big spacious house, great for our group of 5. At least a 10min flat walk to the beach, however a beach cart was needed if taking a beach cabana and chilli bins etc. We opted for a short drive to the beach when we were going for a few hours. Nice walk up the hill through bush to get to Whale Bay which was beautiful.

Ian allowed us to have friends over for a BBQ and even gave us extra furniture for them and had the BBQ set up for us. The room itself was great size and bathroom was nice and tidy as well. Wow! This is our family’s new favourite spot in Whangarei and actually our favourite air b n b to date. Toni was amazing, prompt replies to our messages and requests, very accommodating he allowed us an early check in as there was a storm happening at the time and we had our children with us.
