Farmstay vacation rentals in Hawaiian Islands

My parents and I had a wonderful time staying at Kerinne and Mike's place. The hosts were awesome and very welcoming. The place made us feel at home. The kitchen was equipped with basics that allowed us to cook meals during our stay. The location is not far from Volcanoes National Park and downtown Hilo. The animals were a great addition to our stay. We loved to visit them each day.

We loved our stay at the Bananarama Cottage and cannot recommend it enough. We had never been to Hawaii before and the guide book Rob and Bob provided was amazing and let us enjoy a more local experience. The beach near the cottage was beautiful and the vibe was super chill (very hippy). It’s only for strong swimmers though lovely to sit and just watch. We loved the local farmers market nearby and our massage with Sylvie (lives two houses down) was amazing. Greatly appreciated all the homey touches. The kitchen is small and gets hot when cooking, however you have everything you need to make a meal and it cools off quickly. There were loads of geckos, anoles and coqui frogs near the house which we really enjoyed. The frogs are rather vocal and it was nice white noise to sleep to. The outdoor shower was a major highlight. Highly recommend you book this, you won’t be disappointed and Rob and Bob are the best hosts!

Roby and Kayo, and even their dog, Ike were so friendly. Their place is absolutely perfect and peaceful. I’m so grateful that Roby took the time to share his knowledge with my family as well!

Two of us stayed in the studio for a week. The place is quaint and private, and it feels like being nestled in the middle of a botanical garden. It is beautiful all around the area and peaceful. Everything we needed for our stay was there which we appreciated (especially the coffee)! Thank you! We got in pretty late so the first arrival was a little challenging because it is so dark out there in the country side. After that we had it down, and it's just a short drive from Hilo. Mark and Sharon were exceptional about ensuring we could find the location ahead of time and communicating with us. Highly, highly recommend that you take the scenic route when you see the sign along the highway, you will not be disappointed! The frog chirping was an adjustment but by the 2nd or 3rd night it was hardly noticed. I definitely would stay here again, and plan to since our daughter is attending school in Hilo.

This is a beautiful peaceful place. I loved the light created in the space and the big trees and green bushes surrounding it. It’s also close to hiking in part of the national park. I loved sitting on the balcony of the apartment in the rocking chair listening to rain and seeing the happy mama pig and her young ones roaming. As was the rescue donkey. Frogsong at night gives way to birdsong. A retreat space for me. The hosts have created a harmonious environment. I recommend Amas food truck and the Friday Saturday Italian pizza

This place was like living in paradise! So beautiful decorated, very clean, and comfortable. The views were amazing! We canceled some of our activities on the island to spend more time there! It is very private and you have to try the outdoor shower! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Upon arrival, everything was better than described. Such a beautiful house in an ideal location. The house was so thoughtfully furnished with beautiful linens and everything we could have possibly needed. Towels, beach towels, fully stocked kitchen, laundry w/detergent, condiments and they even left filtered water for us to drink. My kids loved the pool and the second unit downstairs. The views were amazing! Coffee on the expansive porch to watch the sunrise and dessert or cocktails at sunset. Tony gave us a well organized list of local and tourist favorites that was extremely helpful. We stayed at a very nice resort in HI last year and this was superior in every way. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and in a beautiful setting on the owner’s organic farm. The house was super comfortable and a really good layout for we 4 older visitors. 😉 We travel a fair amount and cook a lot and the kitchen was adequately supplied with cooking utensils, decent knives, basic spices and oil & vinegar, plus a good gas grill on one of the lanais. All of the equipment worked fine and it was an easy work area. This is not a beach-y place, but we enjoyed a gorgeous view of the ocean and sunsets from the lanai along with the local critters and gorgeous flowers and veg all around the house. The ride from the main road is fairly steep and narrow, if you’re not used to island driving, but we just drove slowly and followed Krista’s excellent directions and noted the little landmarks to find the place. Krista was super-friendly, helpful, and available to answer questions and provide extra supplies when we needed a couple of times during our 1-week stay.

Out of a two week stay on both Maui and BI, we stayed at a lot of beautiful places but Todd and Elvira’s place was top of the list. A wonderful lanai area to watch the sunset, beautiful views of the ocean and tropical plants, and a wonderfully decorated (and clean!) place to stay. Proximity to beaches, snorkeling, hikes, and Kona town make this a must stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Tamarra's Home was AMAZING!!! She is AMAZING!! We loved being there, we felt so incredibly comfortable. The couple things we needed, she did not hesitate to get for us. The house is big and so comfortable. Perfectly supplied for everything that you need for the beach trips. We had everything needed for cooking. Tamarra is so incredibly kind and caring. She made us all feel so welcomed and at home. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay and we absolutely will be back again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR FAMILIES, ESPECIALLY WITH LITTLE ONES. my toddler loved the animals.

The stay at Jared’s was wonderful. Check in was extremely easy and the location felt very safe. We loved the organic non toxic cleaning products and the natural body wash. The loft felt homey, and comfortable. You can’t beat the fresh water, coconut water, and the basket of fresh veggies/fruits upon arrival. The fresh honey and coffee was also a great treat. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and the yoga space in the farm was just amazing. The frogs and sounds of nature while going to bed was also peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed being off the beaten path. Jared and Jason were great hosts and very responsive. To anyone looking to submerge themselves in nature, relax, and do some yoga, this is the space for you!

I stayed here with a friend for another friend’s wedding at the Ahu Lani Sanctuary. The location was great for us as we were on the north side of Big Island most of the time. We did make several trips to Kona, Hilo, and places in between and I found it to be a great median locale for hitting different areas. The unit itself was very cleaned, very well stocked kitchen, bathroom amenities including a fantastic linen closet and has a lovely koi pond and great hot tub area with seating and a picturesque lower fire pit area and a nice size pond. Next time I’m on Big Island I’ll definitely be looking to see if this rental is available! Thanks again, mahalo! The on-site laundry was also really nice since we were on the rainy side of the island a lot. Sally was really flexible with us which we greatly appreciated since we did so much running around and had a lot of social engagements.

Erin's place was beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and the space after a week adventuring around the island. Erin was incredibly responsive and had wonderful suggestions. I really enjoyed the animals and chameleon spotting just outside the front gate. We enjoyed the outdoor table for morning breakfast and sunset dinner views.

We spent a week at Danielle's rustic cabin. The cabin is stocked with all of the conveniences and then some. We were pleasantly surprised to see the beach chairs and umbrellas available for our use. Danielle was easy to work with and answered all questions quickly. Thank you again Danielle for the perfect vacation.

I also liked that the host, Glenn,was very helpful and friendly. The clean rooms, well-maintained garden, and quiet space were very relaxing. We were very happy to have a surprise at the entrance with a chameleon waiting for us to return from our outing!

Loved the place. Wonderful location with heavenly beaches within walking distance. One of the most well thought out places we have stayed had all the gadgets, supplies and appliances you could possibly need. Fell in love with the bed.

Incredible value for this hidden oasis up on the hillside, surrounding by trees with tons of privacy and wildlife at nighttime. Truly a magical cottage!

I gave a 5 star rating not just because I want it be nice to the host but because it is 100% deserved. 5 stars for flexibility as we booked for 4 as our son is an iron man athlete participating the World Championship. When our party grew to 7 and I asked Kendall for advice to find additional space nearby, he facilitated with extra matrasses and sheets to accommodate all. 5 stars for the view, the beautiful garden with different trees and the ocean on the horizon. 5 stars for the children who made a painting on the pavement for our athlete on the pavement the day before the race. 5 stars for being “invisible” but available when we had a question. 5 stars for the quiet location. 5 stars for the BBQ equipment on the veranda. 5 stars for your tourist tips as we e.g, booked a manta ray snorkeling trip and we found out that KendalI’s discount code saved us 30% Thank you Kendall, your family and your cat!

Beautiful place, be prepared to share the grounds with others, may be a bit loud, but ok by me, Vacation mode, to each their own. About an hour or so from airport, About an hour from volcano, not too far from Southernmost point...wild turkeys roosting in nearby trees...I would definitely return and recommend to friends and family!

The best place we’ve ever stayed in Kauai, we will definitely stay again. Marilou has thought of everything, lots of extras, and extremely clean. We loved staying here.

Scott’s paradise Pua Moana is just as advertised! We have visited the North Shore, five of the less seven years, visiting my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. This trip was absolutely the best due to the 5 star accommodations! Scott made himself extremely accessible throughout our 12 day visit. He even dropped off a Bose speaker for us to use during our stay, which was really nice. Scott is a true 5 star super-host in my mind. Also, the box of Hawaiian chocolates was a really nice touch! For any golfers, I really enjoyed playing at turtle Bay. They were very accommodating and very nice. We really like Lai Lai’s, seven brothers and of course Ted’s bakery! Finally, I’ve stayed at both Airbnb and Vrbo and Scott’s place and level of service he provides Is top notch! Thank you again Scott for a really memorable and relaxing vacation!
