Upper Nidderdale is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of the Yorkshire Dales, in an area designated as a National Landscape (AONB) offering spectacular scenery yet the genteel Spa town of Harrogate is still accessible.
It is a fantastic area for walking but unlike some areas of the dales, it is not overcrowded so you can enjoy true peace and tranquility.
It is also a great location for cycling, both road and mountain. Lofthouse is situated at the base of Trapping Hill, an infamous challenge that featured in the 2014 Tour De France. This famous stage was called the Cote de Lofthouse. It certainly is a challenge!
Bring your binoculars. The wildlife and scenery is beautiful too!
Please note this property is not a good fit for children under 12 years of age. We also do not accept dogs.
Guest access
The Cow Shed is accessed via a shared driveway with off road parking. Guests have their own dedicated area with garden furniture that has a south west facing aspect. Secure bike storage can be arranged.
Other things to note
We do not accept dogs and this property is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
We provide a welcome pack that contains lactose, gluten and nuts which may not be suitable for some people with allergies.
Most parts of Upper Nidderdale have poor mobile phone reception. The Cow Shed however benefits from full fibre, fast broadband 😊.
We have a Nespresso pod machine. We provide some pods to start you off. We find Illy, Lavazza, M&S and Waitrose pods are compatible. (The machine takes the original Nespresso pods.)
The Cow Shed is situated in Lofthouse, Upper Nidderdale, in North Yorkshire. When planning your journey be careful to input the correct ‘Lofthouse’ into sat nav as there are two Lofthouses!
The property is largely on one level but there is one step down into the hallway. One bedroom has one step up into the ensuite.
We supply some logs to start you off in the cooler months. Additional bags of wood can provided for a small fee.
We live next door, so if something does not work or you need help, please let us know. 😊
