Neighborhood highlights

Soyland is a small hamlet on the hills above the pretty village of Ripponden. It has numerous recommended restaurants, take aways, and public houses.
Whilst a rural area, it is conveniently situated between Leeds and Manchester and just ten to fifteen minutes from the M62 motorway.

There are two local public houses within walking distance which offer a very high class of food and entertainment on certain evenings.

We are close to the town of Hebden Bridge, which is only 8 miles away by car or easily walked or cycled along the canal tow path. Here, you can take a canal barge trip or shop in the lovely quaint stores, or browse the antique shops.

Other local places of interest include:
Hollingsworth Lake - where you can take a boat ride or partake in water sports, or take the 2.2 mile round the lake walk - (8.8 miles)
Heptonstall- made famous by the historic coiners -(9.5miles)
Halifax - with its famous Piece Hall, Shibden Park and Gibbett - (6.2 miles)
Haworth- made famous by the Bronte Sisters (13.5 miles)
Holmfirth-Last of the Summer Wine Country - (13.5 miles)
York - the famous walled city - (50 miles)
Lots of tourist information can be found in the information binder found on the reception desk.

Halifax is the nearest town which houses a cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, sports centre, shops, library, the Civic Theatre, The Halifax Playhouse and the recently refurbished Piece Hall.

In early September the area hosts the Rush Bearing Festival and the Norland Scarecrow Hunt - information on these can be found in the information folder or the websites.
