Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
This stunning 300yr old cottage is set in the stunning Duddon Valley. Decorated to a traditional style, this rustic cottage is very rural, so peace & tranquillity is the order of the day at Ewetree Cottage, which is part of Ewtree farm; 28 acres of conservation land, which you have full access to explore. Here, guests escape the hustle & bustle of everyday life in towns & cities, to immerse themselves in a quiet breakaway to the quiet beauty of the famous Lake District fells

The space
Arriving at Ewetree Cottage, you let yourself in the front door which leads directly into a pretty little sunroom, ideal for morning tea. Head into the house and you arrive in the typical, rustic, cottage kitchen, equipped with a double stove, and all your crockery, pans and utensils. Head through the double doors further into the house and you find yourself in a lovely living room, with a log burning stove, comfortable seating, with some books and information on the local area, and local flora and forna. leading you out into the back garden is a stable-style door (great if you have dogs you want to keep in, but you want the door open), this opens up to a garden and a large paddock, and the most stunningly, breath-taking views in the Duddon Valley.
The feature, stone staircase is in at the other end of the living room, leading you up to the large, master bedroom, with a bespoke, king-size 4 poster bed. Cross the main bedroom, and you'll find yourself in a pretty little "nook" with a large, comfy armchair, ideal for a relaxing read. the "nook" leads back out to the Master bed-room, it also has entrances to the small, single "nook" bedroom, and the vibrant red themed, modern bathroom, with a beautiful free standing bath, ideal for relaxing in after a long day's walking - light the candles, a nice glass of wine, and while the evening away. It really is a beautiful cottage, and a wonderful way to find a little bit of paradise.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the 28 acre Ewetree "farm". This is not a farm with cattle or crops - Bev, your host, is passionate about conservation. He plants hundreds of trees every year, so there are trees of all ages. He cares for and maintains eco-systems with his forest and avenue of willow trees, encourages small wildlife and insects with wild flowers, hedgerows, tarns and fields. The "farm" is stunning, looked after to the highest standards, and lovely for morning walks, if you're not quite ready for a hike. On Ewetree Farm there is much to explore. The River Duddon runs across the edge of the farm, and you will have access to several private "beaches" with some wonderful areas for outdoor swimming. There are ancient stepping stones, placed there at the time of the Romans, these are in 2 shallower parts of the river. Further along, next to a beautiful treehouse project Bev is working on, (this will be a place for people to meet and have a drink, picnic or both) is a wonderful part of the river for swimming. We call it the "Therapy" pool, as it seems to have an energy about it which really brings peace of mind *DISCLAIMER -this is not s certified therapy, we call it that because of how it makes us, and many others feel*.
Surrounding the farm are many public walks and cycle tracks. If you would like any information on these, please just ask Bev, your host, he has a wealth of local knowledge having lived most of his life up in the fells.

Neighborhood highlights

You don't get a more beautifully situated cottage as Ewetree every day. You are mid valley level, with views that will take your breath away. The views have to be seen, as words cannot do them justice.

Ewetree Cottage is extremely rural, youay have a neighbour 2 at cottage let's nearby, but youay not. There is a small paper shop which sells basic items on the fell about a mile away, 5 miles to the loosest village, and around 13 to the nearest small town.

If you choose to visit us, your friends will be the local wildlife, and the stunning countryside your constant companion.

My work: I work full time on my 28 acre farm, devoting my time to conservation on the "farm". I look after the growth of eco-systems for wildlife, such as more trees, ponds, hedgerows and fields.
I live in a small house at the centre of the farm. I am always on hand if you need anything at all; should that be directions, information about the valley and surrounding area, a top up of complimentary wood and fuel for the fire. I can happily offer any support you may need during - or before - your stay. I am always eager to help, and make your stay a comfortable and unforgettable one. I spend most of my time working on the farm, though always make time for my guests and show you a taste of an eco life, should you take an interest. It's an incredibly important part of what I do on the farm. Every care has been taken to make the 28 acres surrounding you into a beautiful area full of wildlife, interesting eco systems, and my most personally important project of planting and protecting trees. I will generally be on hand, focusing on conservation, should you need anything at all . I am a friendly and approachable person who loves to share the knowledge I have gained over a lifetime of living in the beautiful and peaceful Cumbrian fells. I will always make sure you have what you need with regards to supplies of fuel, though I am no way intrusive; I just want you to enjoy the clean, fresh air, the beautiful Ewetree "Farm", and the untouched beauty of the hills surrounding Ewetree cottage. Ewetree Cottage is extremely rural, so you will be very unlikely undisturbed by neighbouring guests. Peace and relaxation is a given should you choose to holiday at Ewetree Cottage. Though when/if you require it, I am your friendly guide should you need assistance with anything. Just look for nature loving Bev. I will be around should you require a friendly, happy to help host.
