Family-friendly vacation rentals in East Dorset District

The place was beautiful, exactly how it looks in the photos, sadly the weather was very wet so we weren’t able to use the hot tub, as much as Fiona sold it to us with how warm it can get! There was some trouble with the key on check-in but nothing Fiona couldn’t sort quickly, overall an amazing stay!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Orchard Barn! Chris was an exceptional host, going above and beyond to make our experience memorable. He was prompt, friendly, and eager to ensure we had everything we needed. On the day of our arrival, he asked what time we'd arrive to ensure he could be there to check us in. Chris gave us a walkthrough of the amenities, including how to use the fantastic hot tub and sauna. As a newlywed couple, I asked him to add a little extra touch for our stay, and he truly exceeded our expectations. The space was beautifully decorated with flowers, rose petals, a delicious cake, a bottle of Nozeco (as I requested non-alcoholic drinks), and a lovely card. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and it made our stay even more special. The highlight of the property was definitely the private indoor hot tub and sauna, which Chris maintained every day to ensure everything was perfect. The Orchard Barn was the perfect retreat for us, and we can’t recommend it enough

The place is very peaceful and best for relaxation. Edward is very responsive, helpful and considerate with our requests. The place is easy to reach from the station and he also suggests taxi service if you aren't driving.Huge grocery stores are literally just outside the Warminster station so it's very handy too! The pod looks the same as the photo shows however it will benefit from repainting so it will look more clean and cozy. The hot tub and the sauna are perfect! The linens (towels,bedsheets) smell clean and fresh which is important for us. The bed is really comfortable too. We had a lovely weekend and will definitely comeback. ☺️ Thank you Edward!

We had a wonderful stay with all our family to celebrate a special birthday - we loved the house, all able to eat together around the table was wonderful, enjoying chatting and drinking in the beautiful lounge and the younger ones loved the hot tub and braver ones the swimming pool. Great position for all the lovely New Forest areas and walks

Spring Barn was absolutely beautiful, really well stocked and super cosy. The views from the hot tub are lovely and Spring Barn is very spacious but felt very homey. We stayed during the red warning storm and Donna was really helpful and kept in communication with us throughout, and was available in case of any issues. Donna was a really friendly host and was kind enough to leave a delicious cake for arrival and was flexible on check out times. The local area was stunning, we visited the Litton pub just down the road which was great, and Spring Barn is well located - close to Bath and Wells, Wells was definitely worth visiting! We would definitely recommend Spring Barn and will be rebooking! Thanks again to Donna for being such a fantastic host throughout our stay.

What a wonderful place to stay. The peace I sought was found, the relaxation that was so much needed was there and very much welcomed. Days spent walking in the New Forest were finished with a chilled glass of wine in the hot tub that was tended daily by a really lovely chap. The lodge was spacious, clean and comfortable with the basics of equipment there for your use, which is helpful. The whole experience is one I shall repeat and have already begun to tell others to check it out too

Myself and 3 girlfriends stayed at the lazy lodge for two nights and we had such a lovely time. The check in was easy and Mark was very helpful. The weather was awful, but that didn't make a difference because the lodge was so cozy and warm. It's very private from the main house and certainly a quiet area. The hot tub was great, the only recommendation I'd make is to have the hot tub room more zen-like. Some darker tones would be easier for relaxing and someone to stand drinks. I'd also recommend extra towels for the hot tub to avoid soaking the normal ones. I would also suggest kitchen towel or tea towels for the kitchen area. Overall a fantastic stay and I would certainly re-visit. Thank you for hosting us!

We stayed as 6 adults and 4 kids and it was a great space. It’s a large house so we never felt on top of each other, plenty of kitchen space, toys for the kids and a great garden for them to use. It was very clean and had amazing amenities such as toys, dvds, lots of kitchenware and games. Two double rooms and a big bathroom are upstairs, with 2 big doubles downstairs and a further double up the spiral staircase - not an option for kids/anyone with difficulties as they do mention. Hot tub was great and a lovely quiet peaceful place to stay

Our second visit to Harbour Hideaway. It is a warm, cozy, comfortable and well-kept place. Car parking is easy and convenient and shops and pubs all very close by.

Sharon communicated well and we were able to easily get into the accommodation, even though it was dark when we arrived. A lovely comfortable bungalow with everything we needed. Sharon gave us some very helpful advice for some beautiful walks nearby. Great pub and the local shop sold some delicious sourdough, what more could you ask!

We had a lovely stay! The location was great - quiet and an easy walk to the pier and town centre. The apartment itself was spacious, clean and very comfortable for our family of six. Highly recommend 😊

Our family of three had a weekend away at Manor Farm cottage, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage and farm have loads of character and Hilary was such a gracious host, inviting our son to help feed the chickens in the morning. We were grateful for her recommendations for local walks in the New Forest, and our son was especially happy with the ample supply of toys and books in the evenings. Thanks again for the warm hospitality.

Spent a lovely couple of days exploring Stourhead gardens and estate, the Terrace was the perfect place to stay with our two dogs and baby. Amazing walks straight from the house and lovely views to boot.

Lovely few days, the house felt spacious even with 4 adults & 4 kids in the house. Kitchen well equipped, enough washing up liquid for the rest of the decade!! lol Was lovely & warm for such a large, older property. Easy enough to find & despite not having dedicated parking it wasn’t difficult to park on the road outside.

We absolutely loved our stay and would love to visit again. The cabin is very well equipped, the scenery is breathtaking and our daughter loved interacting with George the cat, and all the horses. Thank you!

What a special place this is. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and felt right at home. Annie provided everything we needed and was welcoming and responsive. Location was just perfect with the beach just 5 minutes walk down the road. After a tough year this was exactly the getaway that the family needed. Would love to come and stay again soon.

I can only agree with the many positive reviews of previous guests as it was superb. Tony and Jacqui are very friendly and helpful came to check with us if everything was satisfactory a couple of times during our five night stay We thought that was thoughtful as often you rarely see the owners in AirBnB’s. It was nice to have a chat and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation is of a high standard as described. Everything was there that was needed. Bright and cheery tasteful decoration. The bonus of the use of the indoor swimming pool was a great. I am sure we will return next year

I had a wonderful few nights at Judith’s place with my teens. The accommodation is even better than the description and photos, it really is a fabulous home in a stunning location. We had so much space that we didn’t feel on top of each other and the views were amazing. Most things are walkable and there are good bus connections from the road so I didn’t use my car the whole time we were there. Yes, it’s on a hilltop, but if you’re of average fitness that will be fine, it’s not too onerous. The place was spotless when we arrived and nice and cosy, a little bit of heating goes a very long way so we hardly had to use it at all. You can tell this is a much loved family holiday home and we would gladly come and stay again. Swanage does book up quickly for dinner even in off season so plan ahead if you want to eat out, but there is a huge fridge freezer and oven with lots of pots and pans so cooking is really easy. Would recommend walking to Durlston and the bus to Corfe Castle.

Just had a long weekend at Melissa’s caravan. We absolutely loved it! We didn’t use the Haven site because we just wanted to explore Weymouth and surrounding areas. It was perfect for us. Comfortable, clean and homely! Thank you Melissa for allowing us to stay.

Catherine is an excellent host, very responsive and helpful. The welcome basket and homemade cake delicious and much appreciated. The house is wonderful, very spacious. It was everything we hoped for and more. The garden and orchard are delightful with several seating areas both near the house and further afield. Although we didn't use it I thought the fire pit and log stools were a great idea. There's plenty of space for 5 lively boys who enjoyed it all, especially the pool and the hammocks! Our family of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you.

We had the most amazing stay at Shalfleet Manor Barn. The property was even nicer in real life and set in the most wonderful quiet countryside. My children loved visiting the resident alpacas and running around free in the grounds and courtyard outside. The pool and gardens of the main house are also stunning. Would love to come back!

The view was beautiful, and there was so much to do around the house. We spent one day at Durdle Door and the surrounding area, and on other days, we explored the Jurassic Coast region. There were some lovely restaurants in the Weymouth Old Harbour area. Our daughter also joined some Halloween activities in the Chesil Beach Resort. We had a fantastic holiday.

This is a lovely house on a great estate. I have stayed in a few houses on the estate & they are all really well designed, cosy homes. It’s in a beautiful location, really private in the middle of the countryside but as a gated estate still feels secure. It’s well located a few minutes drive from Wells & with lots to do in the area. The spa - including gym and pool - is well kept and has a reading room above that I love
