Family-friendly vacation rentals in Big Sur

Sun was very helpful and communicative. Sun’s place is a short drive to some lovely beaches, close to a nice park, and centrally located for all the activities we had planned. We had 4 young kids with us (ages: 1, 3, 6, and 9), and it was very family and kid-friendly. Would recommend highly!

Had a lovely stay at Annette and Fred’s place - the location was great, the house was fully stocked and the hosts were extremely responsive when we had questions. Having a hot tub and gas fireplaces were an added bonus for spending the evenings admiring the views.

If you are looking to stay in the area, this is the place. We will return. Wonderful home, location, views and very clean.

This was the most peaceful and beautiful space I have ever been to. The view from the balcony was gorgeous. All the greenery and the deers and random dog was super gorgeous and felt really at home. The hot tub was amazing and super relaxing. Robert was very kind and responsive, Received a phone call about all the lights, hot tub, close trails, and recommended spots!! Super helpful and very kind gesture. Would 100% go back to this place

Debra's place was great - she clearly put a lot work into making it a nice vacation home. The secret garden is very relaxing and the house was well stocked (coffee in the kitchen, toys and books for kids, TVs everywhere, gym essentials!). The aquarium and beachfront are really close.

Himani was very helpful she greeted us at the door and walked us around showing us the place and amenities. The place was very clean and had everything we could think of. We felt like we were home. Excellent stay.

Felt like it was just lke my home accept they have a hot tub that I used almost every night during my stay also had a beautiful garden. Is very quiet and relaxing.

We had a great stay at the Cutest Cottage. We were there for my daughter’s tournament at Cal Poly (an easy 20 minute drive) and Dina was extremely helpful at letting us get in a little bit early so my elderly grandmother could lay down between games. We were able to make breakfast both mornings and dinner one night and although we came prepared with all our seasonings and such, the home was fully stocked in the kitchen. The view is amazing from the upstairs balcony and we used the hot tub one evening. The space worked out perfectly for us because there was so much downstairs space and a perfect bedroom downstairs for my grandmother to be able to get around. The only thing we just didn’t have time to take advantage of was the fire pit and seating area in the beautiful front yard. The plants and flowers all around the house are gorgeous. It was a perfect house for the 7 of us who stayed the weekend.

Sand Dollar Inn is a great place to stay if you stay someplace with a peaceful 10 minute walk to an uncrowded beach. I felt like I was on retreat. It's situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood, great for birding. The kitchen is well equipped. It is located conveniently in the Monterey Bay between Santa Cruz and Monterey. The hosts were available for questions. It is a great place for pets and kids.

This was perfect for our specific needs. Wrich is a fabulous and responsive host. Friendly and helpful! Enjoyed our stay and the whole process was very easy to navigate. No complaints!

We had a great time at Jai’s place. It was close enough to downtown that we could walk. Coffee/cafe close by. We felt right at home. Because of rainy weather we couldn’t use the outside amenities.

I just can't say enough good things about our stay. The location was amazing! We loved walking around and seeing all the birds and plant life. We loved that Morro Bay State Park was just a short drive away and we enjoyed the Bay & the sea otters that live there were very entertaining. It was lovely to come back and soak in the spa and enjoy the beautiful back yard after spending the day exploring the area. I would love to stay a gain in the future.

By far one of the best Air BnB's we have stayed at and Anny was an amazing host. Super cute and convenient to the charming village of Arroyo Grande and we loved that Anny's place welcomed our furry family as well. Could not have asked for a better stay. Absolutely loved our stay and will most definitely return.

Very cute and comfortable! Slept great, bed was comfy. We brought our labrador and he enjoyed the outdoor spaces a lot which made it more comfortable. Only 10min drive to the Apple Campus and downtown Sunnyvale.

My family and dog stayed at Jeremy’s house for 5 days and loved every minute. The house is very spacious and airy, super well-maintained with lots of room to relax and enjoy. The front and back yards are big and perfect for a dog and kids. Everything you’d need is covered, from outdoor shower to a handy pooper scooper and toys for the dog. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, yet only 3 minutes walk to great burgers, pizza or Mexican food. And only 8 minute walk to The Hook or 38th Ave for surfing or beach. 5 minute drive or an easy bike ride to downtown Capitola. Jeremy was a fantastic host, always asking if we needed anything. Will definitely visit again!

Laura’s place was spot on for our short stay. Beach was a stones throw away, which is where the kids wanted to spend their time. The place was perfect, it was clean, spacious, and well equipped. Detailed instructions for the apartment to go alongside the stay and useful local information.

I had an amazing stay at Whitney's home! The space was beautifully decorated, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The location was perfect - a short drive to the stunning coastline I loved relaxing in the backyard, which was a peaceful oasis. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking to explore San Luis Obispo.

WOW!!! We LOVED our stay at Liz & Robins’ Haven! They made me & my family feel right at home! We loved every. single. second. and did NOT want to leave this paradise. Liz was very attentive to us & even picked us some plums from her garden which were so yummy!! I recommend this place to everyone (especially those traveling alone) as it is a VERY safe & secluded area. We will be back for sure!

The pictures don’t do justice to how beautiful Hari’s place is. The views of the surrounding hills and the paradise back yard were especially great. We stayed for a few days with our four kids and puppy all of whom enjoyed running around in the back yard. Hari also allowed us to use the fire pit out back and so we enjoyed roasting s’mores one night. All in all a great stay with a responsive host.

Amy's place was wonderful - one of the few places we've ever stayed that was even better in person than in pictures. It was clean, spacious, and very comfortable for the 2 of us. The outdoor space was amazing, plenty of quiet spaces to lounge in the sun and walk around. The area was great as well, quiet but close to downtown, and Amy was a thoughtful and responsive host, we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. The one thing to note is that the Wi-fi could be unreliable - we both worked from the Airbnb, and made it work for the week, but something to note for future visitors. We'd definitely recommend this place and plan to come back next time we visit. Thank you Amy!

Our family (3 generations, 5 adults, 1 child) had a wonderful 3 night stay at this incredibly beautiful property over New Year’s. The house was well-equipped, and had a perfect layout for us, with 2 in-suite bedrooms at one end and another, with an extra bed, at the other, with one at each end opening onto patios with views. The landscaping was gorgeous, with amenities like a fire pit in a seating area perched above the long view down to the lake and off to the mountains. The pool added to the visual appeal though it was unheated and we didn’t try it. The property was so beautiful that, although we had planned several hikes in the area, we chose not to leave it, instead walking the 1 mile driveway to the gate and back once or twice each day and otherwise playing ping-pong, darts, and cornhole (all provided) or our own invented challenge of frisbee over the pool. Perfect!Parents of young children should be aware though that the pool is central to the landscaping and can’t be closed off.

We loved our stay in this beautiful area. From the charming, cozy cottage, to the beautiful sunsets and stunning views, this place has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. We hope to come back soon.

We loved every moment spent in this house ,especially the cats , the house was very comfortable, clean and cozy, I would definitely recommend this house .
