Kid-friendly vacation rentals in South Kona

Joe’s place is exquisitely beautiful, dull of lovely details and very comfortable. My family of 4 stayed for 6 nights. Night noises and nature sounds were lovely and to be expected. We are big cookers so the cooking supplies were on the meager side for us, but would be fine for smaller meals. But we did not make a requested so it is on us. Joe always responded to messages. The grill was great. The beds were super comfortable and the covers felt like home. In the mornings we walked or drove the mile to black sands beach for a swim and to watch the spinner dolphins play. Many evenings were spent in the magical moonlit hot ponds at the end of the road. Pahoa had good grocery stores to meet all our needs. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

My first time staying at a vacation rental on the Big Island, and it was a wonderful experience. The host was very friendly, and all the information provided was clear. The location was excellent, very close to Kona town. The house was clean and tidy, and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful.

Perfect place for gathering. The communal areas were big enough to fit us all, but also plenty of space to retreat to. Pool was a huge hit.

I stayed at Jenne’s place with my husband, toddler, and my parents and it was the perfect spot for our big island trip. The space was large enough for all of us and provided the perfect environment for our relaxing family vacation. We really loved the location! It wasn’t too far from town but felt removed from the noise and bustle of the towns. It was also a lot cooler being up so high and we loved listening to the birds and frogs and having an uninterrupted view of the ocean and sunset. The house came with all the amenities described and Debi was a fantastic host, she spent time showing us the trees and fruit and left a little treat for us. She also helped with the Babyquip delivery while we were out and about before check in which I greatly appreciated. I could not have asked for a better spot and this one deserves all the great reviews!

Great place to stay close to Volcano national park. It has beautiful surroundings. The place was comfortable for 6-7 people. Kitchen is well stocked and host reminded us to get groceries from Hilo. There isn’t much of a town there. May be a restaurant or two and couple of food trucks but none of those open all through the week. Everyone runs only a few days a week. Having kitchen and option to cook was great. Host kindly left hay in the carport for kids to feed neighbors sheep. It was a highlight for my kids. Do read the check out instructions. There is no trash pickup so you have to dump the trash. We didn’t read till the last night and ended up carrying all garbage with us to Kona (we were driving through the south route) because all trash disposal locations close to home and on our way were closed (open only 3 days a week). I guess it is island life.

The place was charming. We love nature and we were able to enjoy nature right on the property! Beautiful!! It was nice that we could walk to the Ocean from the property. Such stunning views.

Beautiful sunsets, nice back yard for children, fruiting trees. Convenient to nice restaurants in Waimea and to the local beaches.

We really enjoyed our stay here at the plantation it was so peaceful. Such a great place to stay at. Would love to come back in the future. Thank you sue for everything!

This is the best place to stay in Kona!! We couldn't have been happier! Rosalba was a friendly, kind, and helpful host who provided clear instructions, local recommendations, and a clear list of amenities that gave us a great outline of what we would need to pack and what was already there. The house was spotless and there were all the needed kitchenware to make home cooked meals. We loved the open space between the kitchen and living room and having coffee on the beautiful deck was so delightful. We loved watching the geckos climb the trees and the birds sing. This house has a lot of fun accessories for the beach. Super close to the beach and just a short walk to great waves and snorkeling. We highly recommend this rental and can't wait to return in the future.

This place is absolutely beautiful, even prettier than the pics. The beds are comfortable, a fully equipped kitchen. Such a cozy house with great vibe. Too bad we only stayed for 2 days. 100% will come back and highly recommend.

Wow! Joy and Michael were such wonderful, kind, friendly hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The place itself is also gorgeous and private, but there’s access to a welcoming community space as well. Michael even built it all himself, which is super impressive. 5/5 stars, one of the best airbnb experiences I’ve ever had.

Vlad and Maile’s place was clean, well kept and stocked well with necessities. You could feel the attention to detail that went into setting up the place . The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking.

Jon and Mariluz are fantastic hosts. We loved our time in their suite, and would definitely recommend it to others. They gave us great recommendations and were gracious hosts. We'd book again without hesitation!

Della and Max were very friendly and nice. They were very helpful with checking-in our room when we had trouble. They both shared a bucket full of fresh off-the-tree macadamia nuts which were delicious! Max shared some local suggestions with us as well. It is a quite place and isn't too far outside of Kona. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Noelle’s place was so peaceful and in beautiful surroundings. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. Noelle went above and beyond to help us feel welcome with little notes and a basket full of yummy treats and even some goodies in the fridge! She was so responsive and kind. We loved sitting on the private lanai in the mornings enjoying the lush surroundings. We would certainly stay again!

This place was exactly as advertised and more. The home itself is clean and inviting with all the basics one would need. It is close to a grocery store, lovely beaches, and many great restaurants. It was quiet and peaceful when we were resting, but also close to many activities we wanted to do. Vincent was kind enough to provide beach towels, chairs, and many other items that made beach days so enjoyable. It was such a wonderful place to stay, anyone would feel right at home.

Beautiful clean condo in a nice area. We loved our condo and it was awesome working with Melissa. There were so many extras in the condo which made it really nice. We would definitely stay there again.

Holly’s place was an awesome find. Beautiful view, quiet surroundings, close to nice beaches, and close to shops and restaurants. Couldn’t have asked for better. While everyone else has to rush to a beach for sunset, enjoy a perfect view from your own lanai as you eat dinner and drink some drinks.

This is the best place to stay in Kona! For families or couple/s. It is just like home. The property is amazing; right across from the ocean and nothing could be built in this ocean side area, so it is like you have the best landscaped, pool/BarBQ area, quiet areas to read along with having the best ocean view & sunsets! Highly Highly recommend it for others!!! Parking very easy and just minutes way from Kailua Kona town.

Great location! This place was close to everything that we had planned on the Kona side. Just around the corner from Keauhau harbor and Ali’i drive, about 5 minutes from Kahalu’u beach park, and only about 25 minutes from the airport. It’s quite spacious and the AC unit in the bedroom was a welcome bonus.

Our unit was everything we’d hoped for on our visit to Kona. We loved the place so much that my wife is already talking about our next trip to Kona. Everything from the unit to the grounds to the pools and fellow guests made this the perfect place to stay!

This place had everything we needed and was centrally located on Alii drive. The only complaint would be against the condominiums themselves and all of the rules that the condo manager enforced against the travelers including late time constraints using the pool. But the host can’t be dinged for that, just be aware there are a lot of stringent rules and time constraints on amenity uses

We were awestruck by this location. Absolutely amazing views from the lanai and bedroom. Beautiful ocean breeze kept us cool. The unit is spacious with everything you need. Our host was super responsive when we had questions. Cannot wait to return.
