Self catering bungalow, ‘Crab Cottage’

Crab Cottage provides a comfy place to relax after a day exploring the beauty of the Isle of Skye. This detached, self-catering bungalow for two is situated in a crofting community. The cottage is near and above the road but shielded by bushes and visitors have said the noise is minimal. Our own house and static caravan are next to the cottage. We live with an elderly collie mix dog called Boots and 4 chickens (who live in a separate fenced off area).

The address, Abbey Gardens, gives away its history - Abbey Gardens was the vegetable patch tended by the monks when it was a working monastery. We had a great few days at Jason’s fab place. The beds were very comfy, it was nice and warm, the amenities are great - especially the dishwasher! Its was a Locke tough to have done shortbreads and a bottle of Sauvignon waiting for us on arrival! The Ferry Inn Isle of Harris Brewing Company was great for food and giifts. The owners were very friendly people who were happy with us turning up quite close to kitchen closing time as long as we pre-ordered - the langoustines were divine! Thank you Jason!

We all loved your place 💗. The children said it was really nice and clean. The beds are really comfy. 🛌. The view is stunning and you can see the Eilean Donan Castle from the property, besides the fact it is only a few minutes from the house. The house was nicely layout. It is a plus to have a bakery, pizza shop and a local distillery round the block. Many thanks for having us. Hope to be back soon.

We had a great stay for 2 nights in April. The place was easy to find, parking was secure and simple, and Baya made it simple for us to get any questions answered. One nice thing about this place is that it is close enough to the restaurants and pubs of downtown Portree that you can just walk down the hill and be there in 10 minutes, so there is no reason to drive into town. The house itself is in a peaceful neighborhood, and there is plenty of space to hang out outside, if you get some takeaway.

Such a great place to explore Isle of Skye from! It was quiet and comfortable and the sunrises from our bed were EPIC! The home was exactly like the photos show it to be and it suited the 4 of us perfectly. Kyle provided loads of information and so nothing was left to try and figure out. There is nothing that could have been better. We would love to come back and spend a week in the future!

Amazing stay in beautiful accommodation and spectacular surroundings. An Nead was a perfect getaway for relaxing in a peaceful and very calm environment. The living space and decor was superb with everything you could possibly need, finished to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. Brilliant outside porch area and hanging space to store bikes and outdoor kit. We were lucky to have sunshine all day every day during our stay and enjoyed a number of bike rides, walks and a swim. It was a joy to return to An Nead each evening and quietly sit absorbing the wonderful panoramic views as the sun went down. We have taken away some wonderful memories of Skye and having such a perfect place to stay made it truly special. Our hosts were extremely helpful at check in and with local advice on trips/activities and also supportive with a change of start date. Highly recommend and only wish we could have stayed longer.

Ishbel and Angus were lovely hosts, providing a friendly welcome, showing us around the property and local tips of where to visit. Although close by the property still benefits from its own privacy with the hosts easily available if you need them. The property is beautifully finished, feeling almost brand new. The setup worked really well for our family of four. The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge looks out to the loch and connects the two fair sized bedrooms. The view is quite stunning, we couldn’t get enough of it, looking out through the windows, from the hot tub or on a stroll along the loch on the beach. We were lucky enough to see seals, dolphins, plenty of sea birds and some jellyfish on our stay. The location of the property is great. We made use of a couple of good long walks nearby, visited Corrieshalloch Gorge which is fun and drove to Ullapool a few times which has good local food and shops on offer. We would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate in rebooking.
