BLUE TILE @ AZORES NEST

TheresaRating, 5 stars8 months ago
I can’t recommend Tiago’s place enough! It’s a beautiful and spacious place, about 10 minutes walking distance from the beach and the downtown area. The house is equipped with EVERYTHING you could ask for. From basics like enough towels (even beach towels) to the kitchen that was fully set up everything was available! Tiago was super responsive and we even had the pleasure to meet his dad for a moment. 10/10, highly recommend!

Big house for 6/9pax in Vila Real

NicolasRating, 5 stars33 months ago
Excellent stay for several families with kids. The estate is beautiful and well maintained, the pools are nice to cool off in during a heat wave. The hospitality is perfect. The price in season may be scary at first but the house, the estate and the kindness of the employees justifies it. We'll be happy to go back! Thanks Inès (and Angela)

Housy2 between Beach & Mountain

AmandaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Candida was lovely and at check in, gave up local knowledge and tour of house, which was clean and very functional. They had a hair dryer, nice when traveling to not need your own or worry with voltage and a small space heater which was nice for our unusually cold days. There's two bedrooms, one with a comfortable bed (not too firm or too soft) and one that was a bit thinner and softer, so you have options! There was an induction stove top and microwave with a convection feature, good for warming things though probably not good for baking. The only con was unfortunately the towels and sheets are washed in a strongly scented detergent-common for Portugal but still bothersome. The location has great parking very close and free and is in a lovely neighborhood.

Rustic House with Pool & Jacuzzi -Arouca Portugal

BarbaraRating, 5 stars7 months ago
When the wildfires created anxiety and uncertainty about our stay in Casa Rustica, Elisabete took care of everything; she provided a safe haven until there was no further risk in the Rossas area. Thank you so much, Elisabete, you did everything to reassure us and make us comfortable. As for Casa Rustica, it's absolutely wonderful - gorgeous pool, Jacuzzi, relaxing living spaces and a well-equipped kitchen; the garden is lush with fruit and there are beautiful views from the balconies. Thanks to Sandra, too, for a great show-around and providing on-the-spot help if needed. In a nutshell, all fab!

Very centrally located Airbnb for visiting the island. The place is very quiet, surrounded by a lovely garden. The area is shared, but we never noticed anyone else. We had a lovely bathroom! I enjoyed taking baths at night and sleeping super well.

Uptown Luxury Flat Boavista

JoRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The apartment was lovely - just as described and very comfortable for 2 people. Spotlessly clean with some of those little extras that you don't realise you need. Good location for us - we didn't want to be right in the centre of Porto and we could walk to lots of different locations, or use the metro or bus service. Cristina was very proactive and helpful in sending us information and flexible - allowing us a slightly later check-out for a late flight. With Lidl around the corner and a Pingo Doce supermarket not too far away meant we could get anything we needed. We went to Praca Tapas bar opposite Lidl which was lovely and used some of Cristina's other recommendations for meals which were great. Don't miss Francesinha's at Cafe Santiago in town!

Porto Cozy Apartments

JpRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Cute apartment with a very nice little balcony located a little away from the historic center (15 min walk) but with a metro station nearby (heroismo). Warm welcome, Bruno was waiting for us in front of the building. Very nice neighborhood with supermarkets, a nice cafeteria for breakfast (Pao Fofo- Largo de Soares dos Reis 38), 2 popular good and cheap restaurants (Pao com recheio - R. de António Carneiro 99- menu at €6.50 and Marinho coffee - Rua do Heroísmo 243 - excellent pizzas). Otherwise for fish, we highly recommend the Meia-Nau restaurant in Matosinhos R. Heróis de França 375, Matosinhos, easily accessible with the metro - delicious octopus and grilled sea bream).

DOWNTOWN DESIGN APARTMENT – S. Domingos

AlannaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I can’t rave enough about the view - the big windows that overlook into the city with the church buildings feels like something out of a movie! The pictures don’t do it justice, it looks even better in real life. The location is so central. It is walkable to pretty much all of the major attractions of Porto. We loved listening to the buskers in the evening, as they performed to the restaurants below. They wrap up at 10 PM every night so we were able to get a good nights rest. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the furniture is comfortable. There is also an elevator for easy access after long days of walking! We plan to visit Porto again and I will definitely try to book this place again because it is so so wonderful.

Central Apartment in Town

VallyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Marta's flat was great! Situated in a quiet, traditional street, the flat has everything you need, including two heaters for the chillier months. It has the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in, and a good sofa. 10 mins on foot to the nearest metro. The only thing to make it better would be to include information about the local area, eg the supermarket in Sao Bento and the nearby Amalia Rodrigues museum which has fado concerts. Unfortunately we discovered it too late!

4 Bed Rental in Madeira

JackRating, 5 stars5 days ago
This is the best airbnb I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in, every one of us was indeed impressed with how lovely the apartment was, it’s very spacious and perfect for 4+ people, it’s the ideal location for exploring Madeira by car. As it’s in the central location of the island. The host was amazing left us a welcome basket with loads of different local snacks, they was very welcoming and attended to our needs and provided lots of information about Madeira and activities that we can do Overall for the price and quality of what you’re getting it’s out of this world 🌍 get yourself booked in 👍🏻

"Cabana Papaya" South Coast

ChristinaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We loved the apartment and especially the balcony with fantastic views of the banana plantation and the sea! We felt completely comfortable. Eva is a very accommodating host and was always easily accessible to us. We only regretted that during our time there was a construction site slightly above, which disturbed the tranquility of this area. There is also a second apartment and balcony right next door and the apartments are a bit noisy. Apart from that, we can highly recommend the place and would love to come back any time. Thank you very much Eva!

Villa Graciela

IraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The place was beyond spacious for a group of 5, we had everything we could possibly need, washing machine and dryer saved us when it randomly rained, kitchen has everything you could need, jacuzzi was perfect temperature... The only thing to be aware of is the location on the property page is just a bit different than the actual location. Andrea does send the correct location and gives thourough instructions with videos on where to locate keys and how to get the car in to make it easier on visitors. All in all great stay and recommendations of where to visit and eat.

Cozy Cottage with terrace to enjoy nature

Marc-DorotheeRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Friendly apartment with two separate rooms (kitchen-living room / bedroom), and a large covered terrace. The flair of the former towable caravan can still be felt: The apartment is quite small, but it has everything you need, and even more (e.g. beach towels, detergent…), all lovingly furnished. We particularly liked: the super comfortable bed, good internet, contact with the friendly hosts, the garden from which we were allowed to pick ripe oranges at any time, the birdsong in the morning when waking up, and the Ria Formosa within walking distance. Thanks again to Bruno and Sara!

Your guide to Portugal

All About Portugal

With historic cities, extravagant castles, idyllic beaches, and a renowned food and wine, Portugal offers visitors myriad memorable experiences. In the capital city of Lisbon, you’ll find incredible street art-covered buildings as well as historical landmarks like the 16th-century Tower of Belém — a UNESCO World Heritage site. St. George’s Castle towers over the city, while the spectacular neo-Gothic Santa Justa Lift rises above the rooftops for stunning views. Lisbon is famous for pastéis de nata, custard pastries created by Catholic monks in the 18th century, and people line up out the door of the local bakeries for the delicious treats.

Porto is Portugal’s second city, and its old town — which is a designated UNESCO Heritage site — is lined with cobbled streets, ornate churches, and beautifully tiled buildings decorated with distinct blue and white tiles called azulejos. It’s also the place to sample the country’s most famous wine, port.

On the west coast, you’ll find the narrow streets and opulent palaces of Sintra, while in the north, you can explore picturesque waterways from inside a gondola in Aveiro. The island of Madeira boasts incredible landscapes and charming villages, as well as fresh seafood and delicious Madeira wine. And you’ll find some of Europe’s finest beaches in the Algarve in southern Portugal, with stunning limestone rock formations that tower over the sand.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Portugal

Portugal experiences year-round sunshine, so anytime is a great time to secure a vacation rental in a city or along the coast. Depending on the region, though, the weather each season can vary. In the south, the Algarve enjoys long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Lisbon experiences hot summers and rainy winters, while in Porto and the north, summers are hot and winters can get chilly. Spring and fall are pleasant throughout the country, with warm days and mild evenings.

Portugal hosts festivals and events all year round. Carnivale takes over Lisbon in February with street acts, costumes, and parades. In May, the streets of Madeira are covered in flowers for the Flower Festival. Towns and cities come alive for the Santos Festivities (Celebration of the Popular Saints) in June with parades, traditional street dances, and fresh sardines. And in September, Porto celebrates Port Wine Day, with plenty of festivities spotlighting the famous drink.

Top things to do in Portugal

Sintra

Less than an hour from Lisbon, the town of Sintra features picturesque villas, palaces, and castles. Visit the ancient ruins of the Castle of the Moors, dating back to the eighth century. See the stunning architecture of the Regaleira Palace and Gardens and Monserrate Palace with its subtropical gardens. The highlight of the town, sitting high on a hill, is the spectacular pastel-painted Pena’s Palace — a former summer retreat for the royal family surrounded by lovely pine forests.

Lagos

The Algarve town of Lagos sits at the southernmost tip of the country and features beautiful pristine beaches and the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Ancient Moorish walls circle the town center, which is home to lovely squares full of cafes and shops. A highlight is Ponta da Piedade headland south of the town — a series of dramatic cliffs featuring incredible naturally formed grottos and sea caves.

Obidos

In the west, the town of Obidos is protected by an imposing eighth-century fortified wall. Walk through it into the town to find a magnificent medieval castle and ornate churches. The cobbled streets are full of vibrant squares with cafes, shops, and markets alongside whitewashed houses. The town is famous for its Medieval Festival in July, featuring jugglers, wandering minstrels, jousting knights, and a bounty of meat on offer.
