BLUE TILE @ AZORES NEST

TheresaRating, 5 stars9 months ago
I can’t recommend Tiago’s place enough! It’s a beautiful and spacious place, about 10 minutes walking distance from the beach and the downtown area. The house is equipped with EVERYTHING you could ask for. From basics like enough towels (even beach towels) to the kitchen that was fully set up everything was available! Tiago was super responsive and we even had the pleasure to meet his dad for a moment. 10/10, highly recommend!

Country house w/ Beach 3 min. by Car - Peniche

현숙Rating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a beautiful and quiet place. The house was spacious and comfortable and I could feel the host's touches everywhere. Above all, during a large power outage, Lydia said that she was worried about our safety and came to us. Even though we couldn't meet because we were out and about, that alone was a great comfort for us who were embarrassed. Thanks to you, I had a good stay.

Casa Francisco Home sweet home

RichardRating, 5 stars6 days ago
This house is really nice and very well maintained, there is everything you need for a pleasant stay. It is close to a small bar with an excellent and inexpensive poncha made by the owner (someone very nice) and a convenience store. Odélia who welcomes us is a really very friendly person and gives good advice. We highly recommend this rental.

Candida let us in, explained about the house, things to see and do in the area, including restaurants, the local mini market and butcher shop, beaches and other interest points. she gave us some helpful tips. the house is very suitable for young children. there are games for children in the house, plastic plates and cups. our 3&5 year olds really liked it. it is a short drive from the marina(less than 10 minutes) and from the beaches on the western coast.

Walk to the Beach from a Quaint and Brightly Renovated House

KelseyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a great location and an adorable apartment! João and Rita were very responsive and kind, leaving me local recommendations and a bottle of wine. I loved walking up to matosinhos to surf, walking around foz do duoro and shopping, then getting dinner on the beach. It was so quaint, quiet and special - I would definitely come back.

Casa da Catedral - historic center

NathalieRating, 5 stars5 days ago
The accommodation was exactly what we were looking for. In the heart of the historic district, it is very well located for discovering Porto and its surroundings (the train station is also very close). Nuno and Raquel are very responsive and available to answer any questions you may have and care about whether everything is okay during the stay.

House Historic Center 5min to beach

HilaryRating, 5 stars1 day ago
We just finished a fabulous five night stay and highly recommend. Gui greeted us upon arrival and walked us through the home. It is a historic home so there are some quirks, though nothing crazy. The house was a perfect size for our party of 8 (ages 12-70). The location absolutely cannot be beat - we never walked more than 15 minutes to get anywhere we wanted to go which was much appreciated at the end of the night! There is noise as the home is centrally located but that is a worthwhile trade off for the location. Washer (line dry) worked well and there were umbrellas, towels, sand toys, etc for the beach. We did not cook at the house so cannot provide a review but kitchen was spacious and well stocked. There is only AC in two of the rooms but there are shutters that help keep the heat of the day out and there were two fans available as well. Especially for the price and location, this is a great home for a large group.

Pebble Beach House- Casa da Fajã

CathyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We absolutely loved being right on the ocean! It was within feet of the house!- with the waves crashing and the patio where we ate all our meals, provided an excellent ambiance for our trip. We stayed 6 nights and were so glad we didn’t move around to other places. The promenade next to the house is very scenic and offered a one mile round trip walk along the ocean . Watching the surfers was also a plus.

The area is beautiful and the place was very clean and as pictured. We felt very comfortable and were very nicely and helpfully advised by the neighbor John, as Bruno and Sara were on vacation. He also gave us very good tips for exploring the area. Many thanks for this and also to Bruno and Sara for the hospitality.

Private Luxury Villa Galé

GemmaRating, 5 stars3 days ago
We stayed at Villa Claudia during May half term and had the best week. We got lucky with weather and had full sunshine daily which made having a private pool feel even better. The villa was large and well layed out. Easy self check in service and Susana had kindly left a hamper of food on arrival which was a lovely touch and very welcome after travelling. Air con in the bedrooms was very welcome at times during our stay and maids visited to change towels mid week. We used ubers for all of our journeys, including airport runs and they were always available within 2-3 minutes no matter where we were and very reasonably priced. We had initially thought about hiring a car but I'm so glad we didnt! The uber service was the best we've ever known. If going to Aldi just make sure you ask for an UberXL as the smaller cars won't allow for shopping bags. We made most meals in the villa and there was plenty of utensils etc. Only thing missing which would have been good was oven gloves.

Your guide to Portugal

All About Portugal

With historic cities, extravagant castles, idyllic beaches, and a renowned food and wine, Portugal offers visitors myriad memorable experiences. In the capital city of Lisbon, you’ll find incredible street art-covered buildings as well as historical landmarks like the 16th-century Tower of Belém — a UNESCO World Heritage site. St. George’s Castle towers over the city, while the spectacular neo-Gothic Santa Justa Lift rises above the rooftops for stunning views. Lisbon is famous for pastéis de nata, custard pastries created by Catholic monks in the 18th century, and people line up out the door of the local bakeries for the delicious treats.

Porto is Portugal’s second city, and its old town — which is a designated UNESCO Heritage site — is lined with cobbled streets, ornate churches, and beautifully tiled buildings decorated with distinct blue and white tiles called azulejos. It’s also the place to sample the country’s most famous wine, port.

On the west coast, you’ll find the narrow streets and opulent palaces of Sintra, while in the north, you can explore picturesque waterways from inside a gondola in Aveiro. The island of Madeira boasts incredible landscapes and charming villages, as well as fresh seafood and delicious Madeira wine. And you’ll find some of Europe’s finest beaches in the Algarve in southern Portugal, with stunning limestone rock formations that tower over the sand.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Portugal

Portugal experiences year-round sunshine, so anytime is a great time to secure a vacation rental in a city or along the coast. Depending on the region, though, the weather each season can vary. In the south, the Algarve enjoys long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Lisbon experiences hot summers and rainy winters, while in Porto and the north, summers are hot and winters can get chilly. Spring and fall are pleasant throughout the country, with warm days and mild evenings.

Portugal hosts festivals and events all year round. Carnivale takes over Lisbon in February with street acts, costumes, and parades. In May, the streets of Madeira are covered in flowers for the Flower Festival. Towns and cities come alive for the Santos Festivities (Celebration of the Popular Saints) in June with parades, traditional street dances, and fresh sardines. And in September, Porto celebrates Port Wine Day, with plenty of festivities spotlighting the famous drink.

Top things to do in Portugal

Sintra

Less than an hour from Lisbon, the town of Sintra features picturesque villas, palaces, and castles. Visit the ancient ruins of the Castle of the Moors, dating back to the eighth century. See the stunning architecture of the Regaleira Palace and Gardens and Monserrate Palace with its subtropical gardens. The highlight of the town, sitting high on a hill, is the spectacular pastel-painted Pena’s Palace — a former summer retreat for the royal family surrounded by lovely pine forests.

Lagos

The Algarve town of Lagos sits at the southernmost tip of the country and features beautiful pristine beaches and the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Ancient Moorish walls circle the town center, which is home to lovely squares full of cafes and shops. A highlight is Ponta da Piedade headland south of the town — a series of dramatic cliffs featuring incredible naturally formed grottos and sea caves.

Obidos

In the west, the town of Obidos is protected by an imposing eighth-century fortified wall. Walk through it into the town to find a magnificent medieval castle and ornate churches. The cobbled streets are full of vibrant squares with cafes, shops, and markets alongside whitewashed houses. The town is famous for its Medieval Festival in July, featuring jugglers, wandering minstrels, jousting knights, and a bounty of meat on offer.
