In the churchyard, neighbouring the award winning and brilliant Railway Inn, this 18th century Ketton stone cottage is a very special place to come and stay with friends and family. We have the Rutland Vineyard, a village stores, it is near Rutland Water, there are fab local walks, a great food scene, and there is Burghley House in Stamford, “England’s most attractive town” according to John Betjeman. For me, it is like the Loire and Cotswold towns, but friendlier and with fewer Range Rovers.

It is ideal for two people. Fully equipped accommodation. VERY comfortable bed and throughout. Pleasant outlook. Decorated to an exceptionally high standard. Pristine condition throughout. Easy parking. Quiet location. Short walk to the pubs via the duck pond. Well stocked community village store/café. Other attractions including Rutland Water and villages, are only a short drive away. We would certainly stay again.

It was located in a lovely village and Jo and Carl were really helpful and easy to communicate with! Will definetly be back!

Lovely accomodation, very clean, and a lovely comfortable stay. We found parking a bit tricky as the road was full when we arrived, but obviously not much can be done about that! And the path/communal gap between the backdoor and the garden was a little tricky with the dog, but otherwise a perfect stay.

Great central location, cute tidy place great for exploring Stamford and right on the river so has great views out of the kitchen and bathroom windows. Perfect size for a couple and once parked you don’t need your car as everything is walkable as right in the centre of town. Parking only £4.20 for a full weekend so isn’t a cost to worry about. Would stay again if visiting Stamford again.

Surrounded by rolling countryside with beautiful views from every window The Stables is a hidden gem yet it’s only a short drive to Oakham. Rachel is a wonderful host and very helpful. The barn is warm and cosy, lovely furnishings and well equipped. A great base to explore Rutland and return to in an evening to relax and watch the sun set over the hills, The Stables has been the perfect escape.
