A cabin of 10. The perfect eco-tourism with many details that help you have a unique stay. Lack of coordination in the people who handle the reservation and there is inflexibility with check in and out. Every additional hour they charge it.

This place is truly magical. The nature and its peaceful surroundings were exactly what we had hoped for. The highlight was the sunbed on the roof. Such an amazing spot. Water was warm and the ocean next to some fisher boats all to ourselves. The kitchen’s plancha was another highlight and we had the most comfortable beds of our whole trip. Our day trip with Paco was a great suggestion by Tomás and did not disappoint- from crocodiles to Flamingos and Pelicans, we saw it all and were also able to stroll through Rio Lagartos for lunch, where we also bought some fresh fish directly from the cooperativa - which we made on the plancha. Turns out best fish dish during the holiday! If you want to calm your senses and relaxation in its true form, this is the place! Two tips from our end: don’t forget there is an hour time difference when heading back to Cancuun airport. And also be aware of potential sand flies.

El Cuyo is a beautiful slice of untouched nature. The house is located just a short 1 min walk to the beach. Its 10 min walk to downtown and our fave restaurants. We especially love Naia and Off the Vine. The house provides everything you need at a great price. Lets be honest you didn’t come to El Cuyo to spend your time inside…nature is the focus. I want to share that Alicia was especially kind in allowing me to shorten my stay by a day when I had a dental emergency. Then she went out of her way to support me when we realized we forgot our passports in the house (once we were already 3 hours away). The stay & the host were a great reminder of the beauty in humans & life.

La Casita Azul is a fantastic place to stay in El Cuyo (which is itself a wonderful spot). It is pretty rustic and basic, so may not meet the needs of some, but we loved it. Fantastic location right on the beach, and well situated nearby restaurants and the main part of the village. Sitting in a hammock on the veranda is a great way to spend some time! Our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We did not run into any issues while we were there, but I am sure they would have jumped in right away to help if we had the need. El Cuyo itself is a quiet, laid back little fishing village -- again, not everybody's cup of tea, but if you want to relax in the Yucatan it is hard to beat! I highly recommend this place for those who do not need the comforts of a posh hotel.
