Cottage vacation rentals in Monteverde

Quiet, between 30 and 50 min from activities (Arenal, warm waters, lazy tours, nights, etc.). The outdoor space made us happy day or evening, well sheltered from the rain. Jorge, the neighbor who took care of us (main communication, day-to-day questions, where/when/how to buy fruit) was great. It only communicates in Spanish, it is very generous. The house is large and the beds are comfortable. Air conditioning was working in bedrooms. The kitchen outside was really appreciated. Although we could not use it half of the time we were there, the pool was good, the sauna was not working during our stay. A rooster and several chickens came to our grounds for the kids to enjoy.

Amazing place. We loved hanging out on the deck and watching nature throughout the day. We also used the hot tub and took a walk through the gorgeous property down to the pool area for a swim. Also made a nice salad from what we collected in the garden. Thanks for the hospitality in a very special place!

This was property matched the description and the pictures well. El Castillo is a more peaceful area than La Fortuna and close enough to feel like you can go back and forth without any issue. The view from the porch hot tub is stunning and makes up for the rustic amenities within the cabin. There was daily construction starting at 6:00am on the house next-door, however, so I probably would not have chosen this property if I had known that before-hand.

Staying at Casa Bambu was a delight from start to finish. It was our quaint getaway in the rainforest that was romantic and also homey. Was a great way for us to be a little bit immersed in the local Costa Rican culture. Plenty of options nearby to take care of all your needs, without being situated right in the center of town. Would gladly recommend this place to stay to anyone going to La Fortuna.

I spent two months in this beautiful house, and it was exactly what I was looking for. I could not have asked for more kind and generous hosts who helped me with anything I needed. Grisalda, Marcos, and Antonieta helped me feel right at home, and they felt like family by the time I left. The house is large and well ventilated, and surrounded by trees. It feels like you are in a treehouse. The view of the Gulf of Nicoya was something I enjoyed every day. Definitely note that, unless you mainly want to stay in the house and enjoy the peace and quiet and being in nature, you definitely will want to rent a car. Also, the house is guarded by the most lovely dog I've ever met, Marimba, or Mari for short. Her company was an unexpected and wonderful surprise. If you stay here, give her a scratch behind her ears and a chicharrone from me ❤️

Absolutely loved our stay! The property is stunning, with beautifully maintained grounds and breathtaking views of the volcano. Very private - no one else nearby. Our kids couldn’t get enough of the pool and jacuzzi—it was the perfect place to relax. The location is great too, just a quick and easy 15-minute drive into downtown. Kenneth was an exceptional host—super responsive and thoughtful, even leaving fresh coconuts in the fridge for us. We would definitely stay here again!

A very cozy place, Julio and his family are very friendly and excellent hosts. The place is very quiet and private, excellent for those looking to relax and disconnect from the stress of the city. Strategically close to the tourist areas of La Fortuna but ideal for avoiding tourist traffic. The tour they offer is very nice, they have beautiful goats and horses too. Julio and his family are so kind that you feel like family. Pets are allowed and it's super safe for dogs, you can see that they take care of and love animals. I would definitely come back again.

This is a perfect little casita in the cutest of towns. It was quick and easy to walk into town and find groceries, watch local sports and even catch an annual fiesta! The house has everything you can possibly need and sits on a hill overlooking the area. Neal and Diane (along with sweet little Fanny and Albert) are amazing hosts. So kind and helpful with whatever you will need. Absolutely loved this space and would recommend to anyone!

House is on a dairy farm, cozy and comfortable. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking, thank you very much. You do need to buy your food before you go since it is a little remote. There is someone working in the middle of the night next to the house and that might bother you if you are a light sleeper. One of the bathroom does not have hot water at the time and it seems common that kitchen does not have hot water. We are ok since there is another bathroom has warm enough water for shower.

Loved our stay at Jessica’s place! It is a nature haven, surrounded by the sounds of birds and lush greenery. The outdoor area lets you enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The house was clean and very comfortable, even better than the pictures. Location is great, just 10 minutes from the downtown area and close to all the attractions. Jessica and her aunt Lorena were responsive and made our check-in easy, they shared great recommendations for dinner and drinks. Highly recommend for your stay in La Fortuna!

Price quality definitely recommended. Breakfast is delicious for a very nice price. We found the location a little less afterwards, but that is not Kees's fault. Ideal for those who want to stop between la Fortuna and Monteverde. From here, we made the trip on and off to Monteverde and it is quite challenging. That's why we would have moved closer to Monteverde next time. But tranadora is a quiet place on the lake, with a small harbor in san luis. Resto Tip: Carnivoros right on the plaza deportivo of Tranadora

Peaceful and cozy. The right price, we were looking for.

This place was very nice, clean, and spacious for our family of five. It had the most beautiful view any of us had ever seen which was one of the highlights of our trip. The property is very nice and private with a great pool area. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful whenever we needed anything. Highly recommend!

First of all, thank you to Angel for making his place available to travelers like this. Our amazing trip would not have been possible without people like you! This was a five star stay for our group of 6 (my husband and I, my sister, and our three friends). We personally were very happy but I am going to point out a few things for future travelers that affect your own stay. We had zero cell service at this house and the wifi was questionable at best. No biggie for us but others might care. Town was five minutes away and offered free wifi and good cell service. There were creepy crawlies from time to time. Spiders. Two scorpions. Cool to us, maybe not others. During our particular stay, the nights didn't get as cool as normal, no a/c left the house and rooms a bit hot to sleep in but we survived. Remember when using WAZE to find this place, you put in the airbnb house name to find it easily (Casa Morchella). We loved our stay. The birds. The coati. Paradise 💚

Villa 3 exceeded our expectations and was simply magical. The views took our breath away and the house had everything we needed. We opened the door to that view and didn’t want to leave. The bottle of wine and coffee in addition to deliciously comfortable beds, bedding, robes, propane grill, outside eating, outdoor shower, bathroom and infinity pool made us feel incredibly pampered. The view of the valley in the morning and at sunset are almost surreal and the star gazing memorizing from the master bedroom, the upstairs deck, the main deck, the side deck… We explored Monteverde all day and came Back late afternoon to enjoy this magical retreat. The house had everything we needed for 2 couples and we loved cooking in each night. We will recommend to friends and family and be back someday to this lovely retreat. Pura Vida!!

Absolutely beautiful location, nice big renovated/ converted barn house. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

My daughter and I had the opportunity to stay at Federico's place. The view is absolutely spectacular. The area is safe and very quiet. We saw a big family of monkeys in the property and many different species of birds, coatis, and another animal I can't remember the name of. The area is still close to town, but far enough away that you only hear the sounds of nature. The home has windows that make you feel like you are staying outside. Federico was an amazing host and gave us great suggestions about what to do and where to eat. He is very responsive and will answer any questions you have. You will feel so lucky to get to stay at Federico's place!

Bezaubernde Unterkunft gut located in Monteverde- loved it!

I’ve stayed in dozens of airbnb’s all over the world, and this house is easily one of my favorites. I wish I could take it with me haha. It’s super spacious, impeccably clean and it just has everything you could need. They thought of it all. You get solid Wi-Fi if you’re working remotely like me. Hot water in the faucets - that’s straight up luxury for Costa Rica. The outside yard is perfect to hang out and play in if you have kids. Centrally located for everything you could want to do in Monteverde. Angel is a super-host through and through. If it’s available, book it!

I cannot say enough about this experience, we lost our luggage and right from the get-go before we even landed Luis had found someone to pick it up the next day, he even went to the chemist for my medication. Waking up, listening to the howler monkeys, in what felt like a beautiful oasis in the middle of a jungle, set in a wildlife reserve, and being able to walk along the trails with my coffee and pyjamas early in the morning looking for the monkeys, was the most incredible experience. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, with the most beautiful views, it felt luxurious, and cosy… so much so that we ate in two of the three nights, and Luis helped us get food delivered from the restaurants. He gave us advice.. helped us book trips… nothing was too much trouble…. The house was even nicer than I thought it was going to be. We had an incredible time.

Pedro's house was absolutely perfect and really made our trip to Monteverde special. The house wasn't too difficult to find with his instructions and our 4x4. Everything looked exactly like the photos. Everything was in perfect working order - hot water, great water pressure, super clean, nice linens, comfortable bed, beautiful deck and view... we felt super comfortable here, and it was a stress-free stay! The location was amazing, because you really feel secluded in the cloud forest, but you are also just a 5 minute drive into town with all the restaurants & shops. Felt extremely safe. We actually changed our trip dates in order to stay here, and I'm so glad we did. Pedro also had awesome communication, and our experience could not have been better! We miss sitting on the back porch at night with a blanket, listening to the sounds of the forest. Would highly recommend this one!
