The house is beautiful and even better than the photos. We were a party of 10 and we found we had everything we could possibly need and enough room to live comfortably. We stayed mainly around the house, cooking meals and playing games by the open fire but ventured out for country walks and to visit the alpacas, which were a highlight. Overall a fantastic weekend, we can't wait to come back.

Beautiful home in a very peaceful setting, with plenty of space both inside and in the expansive gardens. Justine was there to greet us and responded to any subsequent queries promptly. It was so great to be able to pick the produce from the kitchen garden and to collect the freshly laid eggs, whilst the farm shop (for other supplies) is about 20 mins walk into the village itself. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend celebrating a very special birthday! Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Cafe. We were in total 3 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs, and the space was perfect for a couple of nights away from London. No TV or WiFi meant that the kids played, enjoyed the outdoors and even did some art! The surrounding area is lovely for nice long walks to the beach. Thank you Julia!

It was price for two nights but the accommodation was very, very good and it was a bank holiday and and Coopers Beach was full so I guess you'll pay a premium for that.

Amazing caravan. Had everything you could need and was very homely and comfortable. Bed was lovely. Shower was great. Can’t fault anything about our stay. We loved it and it’s literally 2 mins from the beach. Our favourite stay so far 🥰

The Brambles is set in a pretty, private and peaceful location. The bungalow was spacious, comfortable (not least the bed!), and well equipped too. Alice herself was friendly, helpful and always prompt to respond to messages sent. We'd be happy to return to the Brambles again and would recommend there to anyone visiting the area looking for a place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at Chisholm’s, the accommodation was just as described and Holly, Johnny and Lettuce were welcoming and responsive guests. Swimming in the estate lake was a real treat for us as keen open water swimmers. The accommodation was a reasonable drive from Colchester, Bury St Edmunds and Tiptree and the nearby church was a fascinating place to visit. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this accommodation.

Lovely clean accommodation. Kitchen was well equipped and cleaning stuff provided. We loved being close to the sea, the kids loved finding the plentiful seashells. Site was quiet being off season when we stayed which is what we expected. Our host was very responsive when we had a small issue, it was resolved within 1/2 hour!! Thank you.

Absolutely perfect stay in a beautiful area. The house was spotless and even bigger than the photos show! It was perfect for 4 adults and my 16 month old daughter. Stuart sent great instructions through and loads of information about the local area, although we actually loved the house and grounds so much that we didn’t venture any further - we had a lovely few relaxing days in the house and walks around the woodland. My daughter even got to feed the goats. Will definitely come back, and will do a summer visit too as the pool looked beautiful.

We had an amazing time at Simon's place and our dog loved it too! The caravan was exactly as described, clean, very comfortable and welcoming to pets. It was in a great location, and we loved being close to the beach, the only difficulty was getting our dog out of the water - he loves it so much. Simon was incredibly welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. Simon went above and beyond by providing bowls etc for the dog as well as extra pillows, blankets for us and added things in the kitchen. We appreciated the local recommendations of all the amenities that were on site and near by especially for dog walking. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mersea.

We had a wonderful day, and James was extremely helpful and provided all the details we needed. The hut was clean and well kept, with lovely decor to add to the beach day. We will definitely hire again in the future.

We can see why so many previous reviews are repeat visitors! Oak Barn exceeded our expectations - it is so much nicer than the photos. Warm and cozy, we immediately felt at home. Well equipped, with lovely little touches like welcome snacks, fairy lights, coffee machine, etc. Great location, walkable to the beach, conveniences, and a handful of pubs, but far enough to not be disturbed. Lincoln & Louise are excellent hosts - warm and welcoming but left us to enjoy our stay. The ONLY thing we can suggest to improve is to have a footpath or stepping stones to the door as we found it rather muddy. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would love to come back again in Spring/Summer

Absolutely fabulous place felt like home from home. Has all the amenities, as being a cook, I couldn’t grumble as there was everything I needed, truly made it a special place. It is very clean and tidy, Mick and Helena have been available for all our questions. The outside space is amazing, large decking and enclosed garden for the dogs. Can’t wait to go back for a weeks holiday Simon and Rachel Gough

Great little place to stay, warm, clean and tidy, too cold for the garden during our stay (Jan) but that looked great for a summer's evening. Local pub is a must, good food and fab beer.

Overall a good stay would go back if the mouse situation was fixed.

We had a great, restful time here. Lovely layout, nice & big front room, peaceful surrounding. Lived having the chickens and ducks and seeing some beautiful birds. Hosts super responsive and really helpful. Highly recommend!

nice and clean, ideal for us, loved how the beds were made up! wife said that she really liked the messages on the plaques that were placed around. the host was very helpful and messaged to check in on us to make sure all was well. appreciated the wine and dog treats. will stay again :)

This was a great experience for me and the family. Alex was extremely helpful and responsive. Will definitely be booking again in the summer.
