Island vacation rentals in Maine

Rachel’s place was perfect. Being new to the island, I had lots of questions during my planning to take my family to Matinicus for a week and Rachel responded quickly and kindly each time. She even bought a new and improved blender for us in case the other two in the kitchen weren’t quite right. The house suited us to a tea. Comfortable and peaceful. The perfect place for my family to reconnect after being spread out during a busy summer. But here is the best example of Rachel’s kindness: We forgot our car key in the house and only realized once we were on the boat back. We called Rachel from Rockland make sure the key was still in the house. She quickly found it and ran it to the mail plane who was able to get it us a few hours later. It was amazing.

Wow! What a delightful place: incredibly lovely surroundings, views from every room, graceful and comfortable furnishings, fantastic deck, history and character, really terrific instant hot water and great water pressure, friendly and tactful hosts. But, that's not all! There are charming animals, both domestic and wild. Regal and hilarious white peacocks stroll around, beautiful chickens who lay colored eggs, a friendly feline. The gorgeous woods and water support herons, eagles, ospreys, terns and LOONS, in addition to seals, deer, and porpoise. There's a pretty stroll to a double hammock overlooking a secret bay. The dock is beautifully looked after and the kayaks are easy to launch. Lifejackets are included. We had a fine time as a couple, but if our children had been with us, they would have been thrilled with the upstairs, which is magical. If you are looking for a jacuzzi, you won't find it-- but you won't miss it. WONDERFUL!

This place is magical! Adam was super helpful giving us advice on when to arrive and plan accordingly. We had a blast staying here for a week with our two kids. Everything we needed was there and the town was easily accessible by boat. Gas grill on the porch and fresh fish from town made easy dinners. The resident eagle family was fun to watch. Recommend bringing a charging block, water shoes, and a headlamp. Miss this place already! It is a true Maine summer experience.

We loved our long weekend at Joe’s place. The gorgeous waterfront setting, the history, the utterly peaceful vibe, brilliant starlit night skies, reading by candlelight every night…it was a special experience to be there, and we hope to return. Thank you Joe!!

This apartment sits on a gorgeous property near a fabulous preserve that is in walking distance. The apartment is above a garage that is far enough from the main house to provide plenty of privacy. I went to the area in colder weather. I imagine that it is even more wonderful to visit in the summer and try out some of the swimming areas. This is a special destination. The apartment has all of the conveniences. I highly recommend this rental.

Unique and peaceful stay. Laurence sent plenty of information ahead of time to help make our stay pleasant and responded quickly when we had a few questions. The property was as advertised and made for a memorable adventure for our family.

It's tough to beat the location of this place. Tom and Christine's place has amazing views: we spent consecutive evenings in front of their cozy fire pit, in comfortable Adirondacks, on the lakefront, watching the moon rise over the mountains. Just spectacular. The house itself is extremely comfortable. Rooms are well appointed. Plenty space to spread out. The kitchen has modern appliances, and tons of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and pretty much every kitchen tool and utensil you'd need. We'd stay here again, for sure.

This was our family's second time staying here and we are already trying to plan our next time! Peaceful and beautiful way to be in nature with some comforts.

We were delighted to get a chance to stay on this beautiful island in a quiet spot surrounded by water and birds! I liked walking barefoot in the mudflats during low tide…! Very well stocked and we appreciated Deborah’s flexibility around the weather. Hope to come back!
