Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Kona

Great spot to unwind. Incredible view from the lanai and everything you could need to relax. Pebble Beach 3 blocks away at the bottom of the hill is a great sunset spot, and it's a quick drive to some great snorkeling/swimming spots. Tons of little honor-system fruit stands nearby, and excellent poke on the main road towards Captain Cook. The host, Minh, was a great communicator, preemptively answering pretty much any question I could have come up with. Minh also sent a nice alert about surf conditions with a recommendation for a sheltered place to snorkel. Sorry to have to leave.

We had a lovely time staying at Chris’ place. The common areas, both inside and out, were peaceful and comfortable. We loved being able to go back and forth between the two for meals, reading, and just relaxing. The kitchen is large, which made it easy to maneuver (and the 4 adults staying there weren’t on top of one another). We used the BBQ grill, the oven, and the toaster oven/air fryer and everything worked well. The pool was icy cold, perfect for a dip when the sun got especially high in the sky. We found that useful after walking down to the walking trail and doing a couple miles midday. The bedrooms worked well for us, with 1 couple taking the master and 1 taking the back bedroom. For a family with kids, the lower bedrooms would probably work well, as the two connect with a bathroom. Location-wise, it was convenient to shops/restaurants, 15 minutes to the dock (for diving), and 30 to golf. Chris was super responsive to all our questions, even on holiday. Thanks again!!

This is an excellent home. The hosts are very responsive and supply an accurate description of their house. The place worked perfectly for our 3 generation group. The geezers (us) stayed in the separate downstairs apartment. Not lux but decent. The 2 sons/spouses and 2 grandkids (2 &3.5) had the run of the more lux upstairs. Large bedrooms with good bathrooms. We prepared meals upstairs (no stove down) and enjoyed them outside on the large table under the roof on the porch. Good breeze there. Pretty warm inside for meals but the A/C in the BR's is great. The pool is perfect. Lots of floaties, toys, etc. Good loungers and a picnic table under cover next to the pool. The beach accessory selection is great. Coolers, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel stuff. Good location near a well equipped shopping center with groceries, Longs drugs, restaurants and a small Saturday farmers market. Very quiet neighborhood. Easy access. I highly recommend this rental.

Very relaxing location with a beautiful view! Stayed there with my family and it had everything we needed from the kitchen to the beach. Debbie (the downstairs caretaker) was incredibly nice, had great recommendations and took great care of us while giving us tons of space. I couldn’t rate this place higher if your looking for some peace in a beautiful place away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona!

Anthony was super easy to work with and very flexible! The place is very quiet and peaceful.

what a wonderful place to stay! immediately after feeding the cats when we got there one curled right up on my lap and i loved it so much, truly amazing. the chickens running around was so so cute. great location for not wanting to be in downtown!

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Beautiful, clean and comfortable. They thought about every need a guest could have during the stay which is incredibly kind. It was the perfect home base and we would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area!

An absolutely lovely house! Besides the terrace there are so many little touches that set this place apart, ex. coffee grinder for the coffee beans to enjoy a fresh coffee on the patio, well disigned layout with plenty of space, huge "master" bedroom. Besides the perfect sunset from the patio, you can also see the sunrise from the kitchen window appearing behind the mountain. Not in the center of the city but in a quite neighborhood with a few spots to visit close by, ex: Greenwell farms, which offers free tour, Shaka Tacos for food, a farmers market. The only complaint we had was that we only booked it for 2 nights :(.

We spent 9 days in this cozy home and it truly felt like our own! The unit is clean and well-maintained, and the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to cook, there is even a small beach cooler to use. We also appreciated the private parking spot, which made coming and going a breeze. Jon and Mariluz are fantastic hosts who made us feel welcome. They gave us a thorough walkthrough of the home, sharing all the tips and tricks to make our stay comfortable. And as a bonus, they even offer snorkeling equipment for guests to borrow!

Della and Max were very friendly and nice. They were very helpful with checking-in our room when we had trouble. They both shared a bucket full of fresh off-the-tree macadamia nuts which were delicious! Max shared some local suggestions with us as well. It is a quite place and isn't too far outside of Kona. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Megs place was awesome! We loved the decor and the vibe, the view was ridiculously beautiful, check in was easy, and the place was so clean (we stayed at a few airbnbs during our time on the big island and all the others had cockroaches in the kitchen but this one didn’t! Cut place, nicely decorated, in a beautiful spot. Good stay, I’d come back! A bit further away from restaurants but only a 10-15 min drive

Melissa's condo was one of our greatest experiences with Airbnb. Super clean apartment with lots of amenities and supplies. Particularly the washer dryer is a must when you come back from the beach. The complex was safe and clean in a very walkable neighborhood. Super market is just a few minutes away with almost anything you need during a trip. Also, Melissa and other host were highly responsive and answered all our questions within a few minutes.

What an amazing location! Don't forget to bring binoculars! We spent most of our time on the lanai watching the waves and we saw so many dolphins and whales. The beds are comfy, the kitchen has all the equipment you need to cook with. Condo was very clean. Holly was super nice and very responsive. The waves are loud 24/7 - we found it perfectly soothing and relaxing to sleep to but if you are a sensitive sleeper you might want to bring ear plugs. Close drive to everything but comfortably secluded from the touristy areas. We will definitely stay here again.

Luxury rental unit, everything brand new and with a clear designer touch. The condo feels like a Westin resort unit when you first see the kitchen and the bathrooms. Spotless overall and with all you might need taken care of. Also very quiet and super comfortable beds and linens.

It is a great place to stay in the condo. Almost have everything that for daily life. it is very convenient.

We would definitely recommend Jenna’s place. It is suitable for a couple with a nice bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen and living room area are percent for relaxing and making meals. Lots of dishes and utensils available. The towels are soft! Bed & bedding are all nice and fresh! The additional beach chairs, beach mats, umbrella & cooler were all great to have available to use. This condo was just as advertised. Our host accommodated an early check in and communicated efficiently. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful rainfall shower and a very comfortable bed. It is well equipped with everything you need starting with the kitchen and continuing all the way to beach toys. It is well thought out and if you think you might want it, you'll find that it has already been provided!

This paradise is an excellent spot for your Kailua-Kona-based vacation! It is right on Alii Drive, close to the ocean and town. Sherry had beach chairs and a surf board, anything you could want for the beach. The king bed is super nice, and having the windows unit AC helped when it got warm with no breeze in the evening. we also used the pullout couch/bed, and it was surprisingly comfortable! I would rent from Sherry again, and I would rent this location. Perfect jumping off spot for our Big Island adventure.
