Bungalow vacation rentals in James River

This was a charming bungalow in a nice neighborhood. The location was perfect for commuting by car around the USMC Base and nearby towns and cities like Arlington, D.C., and Alexandria. When we were there the weather happened to be mostly cold and rainy, but if it was a bit warmer and less wet, we’d definitely have enjoyed a short walk down to the pier (1/2 block down the street!) and the outdoor backyard seating. I found the primary bedroom’s mattress, pillows, and linens to be comfortable, but my husband said the mattress was too soft for his back. The home is older and the floors are a bit uneven and prone to rattle the house when you walk in certain places, but for a short stay, it was not at all a problem. The bathroom (note: there is only one!) and kitchen are well laid out and appointed for a comfortable stay. Note that as seen in the photos, the second bedroom has a daybed with a trundle that pulls out and lies right next to the daybed mattress, slightly lower in height.

Had a great stay here! We had a mishap with the keypad and Joshua was very quick to help us. Home was just what we needed for a weekend in Charlottesville; close to a lot of places! The fenced in backyard was a nice surprise and we enjoyed sitting out here in the mornings!

This was a great place to stay and will plan to stay again next time I’m in Roanoke. Great location, close to walking trails, restaurants, coffee shop and a cool outdoor gear shop. Ruth was very accommodating and responsive.

Cynthia’s hospitality began before we even arrived. We had something come up suddenly the day before our trip and she was very accommodating. The cottage is even cuter in person, if you can believe it! It has that old world charm, but is very up to date in terms of having central air, new windows etc. The surroundings are beautiful and you wouldn’t know it is just minutes from the center of town. It is also very close to many award winning Virginia wineries! Cynthia has such an eye for detail. All of the little extras she adds to the space made my husband and I feel at home. For example fresh cut daffodils in the sitting room and fresh eggs in the fridge. We are already trying to figure out when we will be back!

We stayed during spring break with our 2 teenagers (15 & 14) & wanted time away together. The game room was a hit with tons of things to do for all 4 of us. It was raining for most of the time so we were not able to use the outdoor areas as much as we would have liked but they were also very inviting. They had a cool basketball outside game & water toys for the pond that we didn’t get a chance to use. We all loved both of the massage chairs (house and game room). We used the hot tub several times & had no difficulty sharing the game room, hot tub, or sauna with their other home on the property. They allowed us to check in early & were super fast in responding to my messages/questions. The kids loved the variety of reasonably priced drinks & chocolate in the game room. The only down side was we did not have access to the TV in the game room as we only booked 1 of the houses. This was communicated prior in their description. We would definitely stay again when it’s warmer.

What an oasis of calm and comfort! The bungalow was one of my favorite Airbnb’s yet. It was perfect for us. And Lynn was very responsive and helpful. I especially loved relaxing in the evenings on the back patio and doing yoga there in the morning. Would love to come back!

This home was a true 10/10 for us ! It was a perfect size for two adults, an infant and a dog, close to beautiful surroundings, comfortable and very clean, well equipped - honestly very impressed and we would not hesitate to stay here again !
