Perfect place to stay when visiting the island. Was private and had beautiful views. The house had everything we needed and was very clean. Easy driving distance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again if ever in the area.

We had an incredible stay at the Puna Rainforest Retreat! The serene rainforest setting is truly magical, offering the perfect blend of privacy and tranquility. The accommodations were thoughtfully designed, clean, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The private rainforest trail and hot baths were the cherry on top and are pristinely managed. Jacklynn was warm and welcoming (along with her sweet dog, Kalo), providing great recommendations for exploring the area. We especially appreciated the attention to detail in creating such a peaceful and restorative environment. The location was ideal for experiencing the natural beauty of the southeastern Big Island, with easy access to stunning black sand beaches, lava fields, and lush hiking trails. If you’re looking for a unique retreat that connects you with nature, this is the place. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Great place to stay close to Volcano national park. It has beautiful surroundings. The place was comfortable for 6-7 people. Kitchen is well stocked and host reminded us to get groceries from Hilo. There isn’t much of a town there. May be a restaurant or two and couple of food trucks but none of those open all through the week. Everyone runs only a few days a week. Having kitchen and option to cook was great. Host kindly left hay in the carport for kids to feed neighbors sheep. It was a highlight for my kids. Do read the check out instructions. There is no trash pickup so you have to dump the trash. We didn’t read till the last night and ended up carrying all garbage with us to Kona (we were driving through the south route) because all trash disposal locations close to home and on our way were closed (open only 3 days a week). I guess it is island life.

Very good location between the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. Grocery store and a few restaurants 8 minutes away. Very private and relaxing. I would stay here again.

John‘s cottage was beautifully located, the garden lush and green. The location was great, for trips etc! Everything like the kitchen was well equipped and the beds were so comfy. John was the nicest host you can think of. He gave us a lot of advices and is very knowledgeable about the history, the island and which kind of trips to do. We can recommend John‘s beautiful cottage 100% and will come back for sure. Thank you so much, John, for being such a great host! We will come back!

We got very good stay @ Simone & Steve's place. There were grounded coffee and coconut biscuit with honey as an complimentary. All linen and beds were clean. The kitchen was fully equipped. There is a washer and dryer with detergent provided. The overall atmosphere was quiet...nah, not really that quiet coz we heard coqui frogs every night. We like hearing their little sounds. We didn't have this kind of frog in our country. It's like being in nature. There's nothing we didn't like in this house. Highly recommended!!! If we have a chance to come to Hilo again, we will definitely stay at Simone & Steve's place again.

An amazing stay in a peaceful Hawaiian setting. Would do it all over again in a heartbeat bonus, the farm animals like attention so much fun.

Excellent host!! The photos do not do it justice, it is wider than it appears in photos and has a beautiful garden, I recommend you to set aside a time and have a breakfast there. On our visit to Big Island we will definitely return to this place.

Great spot in the Jungle. Beautiful flowers and foliage right outside the door. Clean, comfortable and easy room. Convenient location for Volcanoes National Park as well as nearby restaurants in Volcano. Had everything we needed for our stay on that side of the Island!

I had an incredible stay! The hosts were amazing—super helpful, accommodating, and respectful of our privacy throughout. It made the experience feel very relaxed and personal. The setup was well thought-out. Although the AC was located in the living space, it worked efficiently with the fan on high speed, keeping the bedroom comfortable all night. The bathroom was absolutely gorgeous, featuring a his-and-her sink, which added a nice touch of luxury. This place is perfect for anyone seeking a peaceful hideaway, and the proximity to stunning sunrises is a bonus. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a serene escape!

We had a great stay! The place was cute, clean and well appointed. The outdoor living space and yard are beautiful. Helpful hosts greeted us, made sure we were set up and we still had privacy. Location close to great attractions- boiling pots, rainbow falls. We really enjoyed the botanical gardens too. Definitely recommend this spot.

This is such a unique stay! The surrounding lava rock is jaw dropping and the hammock on the porch is a great addition! The common room is well equipped and overall this is a great way to be off the beaten path but still close to things to do. The coqui frogs at night are amazing!

Great location with everything you need and much more. It was great being able to cook our own food and not need to rent snorkel gear. Saved us a ton of money. The location is very peaceful, comfortable, and a great place to relax.

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful unit, kept up very well! New AC in the bedroom with the king bed which was wonderful! The second bedroom does stay very warm even with many fans available in the unit but we still enjoyed ourselves immensely. The host was a great communicator and very nice. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

We had a great time staying here and the view is incredible. We are sad to check out but so happy we got to stay here. Joe and Carla were awesome and always answered right away. Would definitely stay again.

We spent 3 days at Shae's place visiting the local sites including Volcano National Park. Had a great stay. Well equipped kitchen, coffee maker, beach towels, snorkel gear and comfortable bed. Everything we needed!

I had such a wonderful stay at this cozy studio in Hilo! The location is perfect—close to everything, including my favorite spot, Teapresso. The space was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing trip. The hosts were amazing—friendly, responsive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hilo!

My husband and I had a very comfortable 5-night stay at Kalani Modern Studio. The space was clean and cozy, with a full kitchen that made our stay especially convenient. The provided coffee was a thoughtful touch, making our mornings enjoyable. We enjoyed dining on the patio with a view of the pool, and the interior grounds were maintained. The host was responsive and helpful, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience. Highly recommend!
