The space
The solar-powered Barn House @ The Donkey Dairy is a cozy and well-appointed countryside retreat that offers all the comforts of home. Guests will find complimentary tea, coffee, milk, and home-baked rusks waiting on arrival.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, air fryer, gas stove, and all the pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery needed for a relaxed, self-catering stay. For those who enjoy cooking outdoors, there’s a braai on the stoep, perfect for soaking in the fresh Magaliesberg air.
The bathroom features a shower, basin, and toilet, with toilet paper provided. The bedroom is comfortably furnished with a double bed for two adults and a sleeper couch ideal for two children (12 years and under). Quality linen and towels are provided for your convenience.

You will have access to our farm where you can roam and hike amongst the mountain donkeys on our 2km family friendly hiking trail, “Brayers Eye”. At the eye you can have a forest picnic where kids can enjoy swinging in the hammocks and drink fresh water from the mountain spring. For the more romantic couples, hike up to the top of the “Long Ears Lookout” trail, where you can enjoy a sundowner overlooking the sunset in the Magaliesberg region. The Guests can feel free to visit the animals or ask one of our friendly staff to help bottle feed our cute baby goats, which children love to do. Wood available @ R40 / per bag. Firelighters available @ R30 a box. We have a Mini Farm Shop where you can buy some jams, rusks, sweets, cool drinks and our Famous Donkey Dairy Products. This includes our Donkey Dairy milk, soap and creams. Card Facility available. The sleeper couch in the living room can easily sleep two children or one adult.
Other things to note
Our Farm Kitchen offers delicious takeaways and light meals on weekends and during school holidays, operating Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to 3pm. On the menu, you’ll find our famous Wagyu beef burgers and boerewors rolls, along with tasty chicken and vegetarian options — all made fresh on the farm.
We recommend bringing mosquito repellent, as farm life naturally includes a few buzzing visitors. Please keep windows and doors closed to prevent any curious insects (or “gogos”) from joining you inside.
🐒 Please do not feed the monkeys — as adorable as they may seem, feeding them encourages unwanted behaviour and disrupts the natural balance on the farm.
