Stanwix Cottage dates back to the 1650s when it was part of the coaching Inn which is now the Crown and Thistle. It has been recently fully renovated and is an ideal comfortable base to tour the City of Carlisle, Cumbria, including the Lake District or Southern Scotland.

It has three reception rooms including a conservatory overlooking the lovely enclosed garden with patio and three bedrooms, one ensuite. It is within walking distance of the city centre and Rickerby Park and the River Eden.

The space
Behind its modest exterior frontage, Stanwix Cottage is a real tardis. It has been completely modernised internally in recent times and is a real home from home. It has three unique sitting areas where you can sit comfortably and relax. There is a well fitted out kitchen with breakfast bar and a dining table in the lounge area.

Upstairs, its three bedrooms sleep up to five people. The master bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite shower room. There is a double room and a single room which share the newly fitted out bathroom.

The enclosed garden is a real joy with a grassed area, mature shrubs and plants and a patio with table and chairs to seat up to six.

It is an easy walk into the centre of Carlisle and Rickerby Park and Bitts Park are nearby too.

Stanwix is a district of Carlisle in Cumbria. The population is some 6,000. It is located on the north side of the River Eden, across from Carlisle city centre.

Stanwix is built on the site of a Roman fort known as Uxelodunum or Petriana. This was the largest fort on
Hadrian's Wall which adjoined the northwest edge of the fort. Stanwix Cottage is in the heart of the area of the fort and Old Stanwix Village. Because of its heritage it is a conservation area.
