It makes Loma Beach House the perfect getaway.

The space
Situated just behind the dunes of Camber Sands Beach, Loma Beach house is an alluring fusion of Scandinavian design and industrial style.

Most importantly, the house has been designed for chilling out. The house is spacious, the colour scheme is cooling and the atmosphere is relaxing. Run on 100% renewable energy, the house observes key green principals of a smaller carbon footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. Loma Beach House is made from love and good vibes.

On the ground floor a spacious open plan living/kitchen/dining room of approximately 40ft is filled with light via four sets of glass doors and windows which run along the back of the house.

All the doors open to provide an inside/outside space to a private south-facing 40ft decked garden and outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen has a gas BBQ and a pizza oven, making it perfect for entertaining. The outdoor table and benches can be shaded by sails, while outdoor furniture, including beds and cushions, are provided.

The industrial designed kitchen is well-equipped with a large-range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and big fridge/freezer, the kitchen tap provides filtered water, while the huge dining table easily sits 14 people around it. Add in a huge sofa, a TV, a wood burner and toddler swing.

A utility room contains, washing machine and plenty of drying and storage space.

Larder with wine fridge.

Two beautifully designed king-sized bedrooms are also on the ground floor along with a large shower room. Upstairs features a smaller chill out lounge with a 42” TV and games console.

Elsewhere you’ll find a large super king bedroom with ensuite bathroom, a further king-sized bedroom, a 6 x adult-sized bunk room and an additional shower room.

Each bed in the house has 5* quality mattresses and pillows with a minimum of 200 thread count bed linens. The master bedroom has a bathtub and all the showers have both rainfall and handheld options, with excellent water pressure.

The house is thoughtfully but simply designed with concrete floors and raw plaster walls, wood panelling, mid-century and modern furniture, street art and sculptures throughout. Beautiful soft furnishings give the house warmth.

The upstairs bedrooms have unspoilt views of the sand dunes of Camber. The house is situated down a private track road with enough room for 2 cars, with free parking on the road. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

Neighborhood highlights

Unlike most beaches along the Sussex coast which are lined with pebbles and shingles, Camber Sands is covered in fine golden sand stretching nearly 5 miles. It also is home to the only sand dunes in East Sussex. There is also a kite surfing and windsurfing school nearby.

The beach is dog friendly between May and September but after that you must keep the dogs to the restricted zones further up the beach. Horses are also allowed on the beach at certain times. It's a beautiful beach with some cafes/restaurants and shops and a few kids’ swings and trampolines.

Camber village itself is behind the dunes which occupies the estuary of the River Rother. It’s small but has all the amenities you need, including local shops and fish and chips.

The nearest town of Rye is a 10-minute, 2-mile drive away. It lies at the confluence of three rivers, but still has its own little harbour and fishing fleet. Rye is well known not only for its heritage but also for its Georgian and medieval houses that line the cobbled streets. It contains a host of beautiful artisan, fashion and homewares shops and eateries, stylish hotels, public houses with live music, tea rooms, delicatessens selling local cheeses, organic butchers, bakers, fishmongers and greengrocers selling local produce.

There is a farmer’s market every Wednesday, and local vineyards sell quality English wine and offer regular wine tastings. While art galleries, museums, spas and amazing antiques - including utilitarian furniture, industrial, Americana, vintage, mid-century, ceramics and glass – can also be freely found in an area brimming with independent shops and local traders.

Dungeness is Britain’s only desert. A National Nature Reserve and one of the largest shingle landscapes in the world, it is well worth a visit. The headland, which juts into the English Channel, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and has 29 homes built from railway carriages on it.

Dungeness is unique for its desolate landscape and power station, lighthouses and expansive gravel pits. As well as it’s delicious daily-caught fresh fish and modern architecture, a mini steam train takes you all the way down the coast and back from Dungeness to Hythe, which is a brilliant way to see and visit more of the coast.

Rye Harbour is a fascinating Nature Reserve and worth a visit whether you want to discover its wildlife and habitats, explore its history, or simply experience the landscape and enjoy a walk beside the sea, whatever the season. The Nature Reserve lies within a large triangle of land extending south from Rye, along the River Rother, past Rye Harbour to the sea, westward to Winchelsea Beach and northwards along the River Brede. Dogs are allowed into the reserve.

My work: Design
I spend too much time: Taking photos
We both come from a design background and, after having our daughter Luna, we wanted to build a place that was our unique take on beach living. We wanted to create a beautiful space not only to look cool but to be chilled. To eat and drink, relax, hide and live in. It is designed for family and friends to celebrate time together in a vibe of true love. The concept of Loma Beach House is to enjoy it. Embrace its chalky white and jet black interiors. Laze in its open spaces. Wake up with the views of the sands dunes and fall asleep with the sound of the sea.
