Unwind in the hot tub

This is one of the few places in the area with this amenity.
Crumbleclive is a beautifully restored 100 year old cabin set within the dramatic backdrop of Crunkly Ghyll. It was originally the ‘Gun Room’ for the local estate in the 1890s! The Cabin has a balcony overlooking the gorge with the River Esk rapids visible at the bottom. Surrounded by Oak trees you will feel amongst the treetops as birds gather on the branches around you and fly through the gorge below. It is perfect for couples wanting a romantic getaway to recharge the batteries!

The space
Crumbleclive is a hundred year old former Gun Room for the local estate and unsurprisingly has bags of character. The cabin is small but has a double bed, a butchers block with kettle and pots/pans/cutlery, a wood burning stove and also a DVD player and projector which plays out on the cabin roof. Outside the sliding doors is a small balcony overlooking the ravine and this is joined onto another decked outdoor area with a compost toilet, gas bbq and most importantly, a Swedish bath!
The showers are at the neighbouring caravan site toilet block which is at most a 5 minute walk away.

Guest access
Crumbleclive is based at Wild Slack Farm, a traditional moorland farm. Parking is on the adjoining caravan site but if it’s wet then it will be up at the farm.

Other things to note
Although the cabin is situated on its own in the ravine and is completely private, there is a small but busy in summer caravan site in the neighbouring field which is where the entrance is.
There is a farm shop vending machine on site where we sell our own meat born and raised on the farm. This includes rare breed pork, shorthorn beef and heather fed lamb. This will be up and running by April 2022.

Neighborhood highlights

We are very lucky to live in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and be only a 20 minute walk away from the pretty village of Lealholm. The village boasts many amenities including a good pub, great shop, post office, garden centre and tea rooms. Towards Danby is the National Parks Moors Centre which is a must for anyone wanting to get acquainted with the area. The area is amazing for walking and I am happy to help you out with any questions or suggestions for nearby walks.

Further afield is Whitby which is about a 20 minute drive away. There are many traditional moorland villages to explore all within a 30 minute drive including Rosedale, Goathland, Farndale, and Grosmont. The beautiful fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay are also well worth a visit.
