Casa Jirafa is a one bedroom loft located just half a block away from stunning Santa Lucia Square and three blocks from the Cathedral and main square. Jirafa gets its name from the shape of the bedroom balcony overlooking the open concept living space. The house includes a private indoor pool to cool off from Merida's sun.

The space
Casa Jirafa is not only beautiful to look at, it's location could not be more perfect to visit the most exciting places within Merida's Centro. It is located just half a block from Santa Lucia Square, which has some of Merida's best restaurants and a traditional cultural show every Thursday night. Jirafa is also just a short walk to the main square, also called the "zocalo" where you can visit the oldest cathedral of the Americas and the Casa de Montejo, the palace of the Spanish conquistador, and much more.

The Casa itself is a one bedroom loft with two full baths, one en suite and the other is located off the main living area. The entire space is newly renovated but preserves the colonial architecture and features soaring beamed ceilings and other colonial architectural features. Jirafa has its own unique style with custom pasta tile artwork and a private spa room located right next to the living space. Both the bedroom and the main living space are air-conditioned.

The master has a comfy queen size bed and an ensuite bath and dressing area. The living room has a pull-out sleep sofa for extra guests and features a hand-painted coffee table by a local artist.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need if you want to cook. Purified water is provided, as well as coffee. The refrigerator has ice made from purified water as well, so no need to worry. We provide you with basic kitchen equipment and appliances including a toaster and coffee machine so that you can fuel up with a satisfying breakfast to start your day. Coffee, creamer and sugar is provided -- no need to run to the nearest mini-mart for these basics.

Casa Jirafa is furnished with custom-made furniture, antiques and artwork made by local artists.

Guest access
All of our guests are welcome to the entirety of the home and have access to use anything on the property including the kitchen, pool, and any other amenities. The house is not shared with any other occupants or pets, so you can enjoy privacy during your stay.

Check in is available after 3pm. Check out is before 11am. We may be able to accommodate an early check-in if availability allows. (Let us know if you would like you drop off your bags early so that you can enjoy Merida while we get the house ready for you)

We allow smoking on the balconies and any of the outdoor areas, but it is prohibited inside the property.

Maid fee: For rentals in excess of 1 week, weekly cleaning as well as pool maintenance will be provided at no extra charge. Contact us if you are interested in additional cleaning for an extra fee.

Electricity is included for stays of 2 weeks or less; and for stays of longer than 2 weeks, no electricity is charged unless the usage greater is USD$3 a day for the 1BR or 2BR homes, or USD$5 a day for the larger homes.

Extra guests fee: Each guest after 2 will incur an additional fee of $15 per night.
