A lovely, homely cottage. Great for a family. We had such a great stay. Soraya sorted a light switch issue in the bathroom quickly and effectively. The small details with some bits to help us get started, such as bread, jam, milk and orange juice was so nice. I'd highly recommend a visit as location is beautiful and peaceful and great to climb Scafell Pike, just 20 minutes away.

From the moment we booked, Madonna made us feel very welcome, with lots of great details about our upcoming stay. The Smithy was simply lovely, beautifully situated in our favourite valley in the Lakes, Eskdale. It was brilliantly appointed for our family of four, with every provision you could possibly need. The bedrooms were immaculate, both our super double room and the mezzanine room which our children loved making their home for the week. If you like to walk the central location is perfect, without the need to drive out once. We enjoyed stunning walks to Ravenglass and back over Muncaster Fell, with a very welcome interruption from a lovely lunch in the Inn in Ravenglass, or across Birker Fell and down to the shores of Wastwater, in our view the most majestic of all the Lakes. For a change to a seaside scene a short trip out to Seascale is a must, with Salt, a lovely fish & chip restaurant, to be enjoyed before an amazing ice cream or waffle in Mawsons. Simply stunning.

Just came home after a very reaxing break in Jonnty’s beautiful cottage. The cottage was georgeous, comfortable, relaxing and was just as described in the listing and felt very spacious with everything that you might need. Jonnty’s an excellent host which responds very quickly to any messages. He also put the heating on before our arrival incase we were cold. We ate a couple of times in the pub/restaurant 10minutes walk ‘Bowe House Inn’ which was very good. The area is very peaceful with beautiful surrounding. I look forward to returning in the future.

Gorgeous cottage in beautiful surroundings. Could walk out every day all day onto the fells, cosy place to come home to. A lovely welcome and lots to do. Would highly recommend :))
