Family-friendly vacation rentals in Davis

We couldn’t have picked a better location to spend our 1 year wedding anniversary. We spent a beautiful Saturday at Blackwater Falls and exploring any trace of the Blackwater 100 (historic offroad race) around town. Sunday was raining and we spent the entire day at the cabin having the most peaceful day watching the clouds roll through.

Campground was overall very pleasant and clean. The cabin was extremely clean and tidy and the hosts were extremely helpful. They gave us great recommendations and even listed local events for the holiday that were going on, with times and everything. There was a lot of snow expected overnight and offered services incase anything happened. The grounds keepers were very quick to get to work keeping the roads clear and salting our walkways. The location is great there's a beautiful stream that runs right through and lots of different camping options on the grounds. We 100% plan on coming back and even make visiting this location a regular thing! Highly recommend!!

Where to even start? This cabin was the absolute best. We went with a total of 8 adults and 6 children under the age of 5. The cabin was so much more spacious than the photos make it appear, which was a very pleasant surprise. The finished basement is huge and was a great space for the kids. The kitchen was very well equipped and spacious for us to cook meals and snacks. The beds were comfortable and the walls are thick and you can’t hear a lot of outside noise. The location is great - about 10 minutes to Davis and 15 to Thomas and plenty of hiking and other activities. Our Apple Maps didn’t route us to the right place, but G00gle Maps did, just as an FYI. Seriously can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.

We decided last minute to go to the mountains for the weekend. We have two pups and they were welcomed. No hassle for bringing them! The old school house is beautiful, and the host are so kind and sweet. I even sent them pictures of the trout we caught. I been all over the country and to other countries and this is by far one of the cleanest places we have stayed. I would 10/10 recommend! The hot was even clean. Perfect for finishing!! We will be back!! Thank you all again!!

My family of 6 (husband and I, two teenage sons, dad & brother) and our pup had a great time here. The house smelled clean for being pet friendly. I really liked the layout of the house. The master is upstairs with a bathroom all by itself. The couch up there could use a deep clean or new cushions, along with ceiling fans needing cleaned. To get the toilets to fully flush you just need to hold the handle for about 5 seconds, no biggie. Fished at the lake but no bites. There’s a list of things to do before departing but it’s not unreasonable. We visited Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob. The Canaan State Park Restaurant was the best food we had.

This was the perfect spot for a honeymoon. The cabin was gorgeous and had some Christmas decor which was very festive. I’d recommend to anyone and would love to come back.

Fabulous house with detached suite for privacy for our group. Very clean and comfortable with many amenities. Walk right to Davis to shop and eat! Fireplace added warmth and camp vibes! Will come again!

Away from busy our lives; this place is a perfect escape for a couple of nights, to reset and get back to everyday lives. My boyfriend and I came here during March and it was chilly, but still so nice; the trees, the privacy, and the view generally are all peaceful. Made me think during the summer this would be an even better place! The hosts were friendly and they were transparent and clear with communication. I am impressed for a place like this to be able to give my boyfriend and me a sense of peace! Would recommend this for a quick escape or a retreat!

I had a lovely stay, and Michael was so lovely and friendly throughout! It's so peaceful and calm, and there's so much to do in the area. I will definitely come back!

Our family and one other spent the New Year's holiday weekend at Skier's View while skiing at nearby Timberline Resort with our kids. Colleen was extremely proactive in sharing all of the pertinent info and went above and beyond to detail every aspect of the home as well as the surrounding community. The rental was a great price and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view of Timberline, Canaan, and Whitegrass. We have stayed at many homes in the Valley and this was our favorite!

My husband I really enjoyed our stay at Grandmas house. The house was very peaceful and relaxing with wonderful views.

We decided to try this camp ground pretty much last minute for Memorial Day weekend and we were so happy with that decision. Even though it was naturally busy that weekend, we very much enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The property is beautiful with nice little river near by to play in. Each camp site had a fire pit, a picnic table, and flat room for any tent size. Showers, drinking water, sinks for hand washing, firewood ($5 per bucket) and portapotties we're on site. Hosts were great and provided maps and other info of the area. We will definitely be back!

Lovely place with a Ruku set up, great sized space for both bedroom, bathroom, and living area. Pretty cool it was a bank renovated into an airbnb. Love that it was near a river, too. And it was pet friendly, which is always the best!

We stayed at David's wonderful home for a few days around the New Year's. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfortable and the gas fireplace was really comforting when it was cold and stormy outside. wonderful location close to the national wildlife refuge, State Parks and the great little towns of Davis and Thomas West Virginia. highly recommended!

We booked James’s place at the last minute, and we chose it for the location rather than the accommodation. However, when we arrived we had a wonderful surprise, because it was much nicer than the photos had let us to believe. It was spacious and comfortable, with a good-sized kitchen and a lovely sitting area. The kids loved having the playground outside, and it was amazing to soak in the hot tub surrounded by snow, watching the stars come out. We also enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool and games room, and visiting the ponies at the riding centre. The kids sledded down the hill outside and we also went sledding at Blackwater Falls, which was fantastic. The waterfall looked so beautiful with all the icicles. We didn’t have time to try Timberline, but the skiing at Canaan Valley was reasonably priced and great fun. We also had a few nice meals in Davis and Thomas, and a beautiful walk to Douglas falls. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we will definitely come again if we can…

Friends and family members rented several cabins at Black Bear for a wonderful weekend! Joan’s description warns that AWD is needed at this time of year—and it is. 🤪. Maintenance at Black Bear was extremely responsive when one of our group had difficulty getting out of the resort due to snow/ice. Nice to have the covered back porch to take off snowy wet clothes/boots.

My wife and I needed a trip away from the city for the long holiday weekend where we could enjoy some good activity in peaceful surroundings with our dog. This cozy pedestal cabin in Black Bear Resort was just what we were looking for. Check in was easy by picking up the keys at the resort lodge. The place had everything we needed to a cook a couple nights for ourselves, including the gas grill on the deck. The wall-mounted 4K flatscreen TV with Roku let us relax after three active days out and about in Canaan Valley while we listened to the thunderstorms roll over the mountains each evening. This would certainly be a fine place for folks (especially with kids -- there were two sets of bunk beds in the loft) to use a base for their WV adventures any time of year!

5 star stay here in Davis. The space is beautiful and spacious end unit townhouses on two levels. The hot tub was brand new and water was pristine. Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. There is a lovely community space a few feet away with playground, pool and lake. I would highly recommend this place
