Old Homosassa Water Front, Ice Machine & Kayaks

SarahRating, 5 stars5 months ago
My family and I enjoyed our stay here. A couple things to note. If you’re staying for a longer period (or have more people), you will need to bring more toilet paper and paper towels with you. Besides that, this home had all the amenities we needed. Including kayaks, a canoe and a grill. You can fish off the dock and she had some good board games. Very spacious home for our family of 6.

Crystal River Highrise

TomRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Right down the road from Three Sisters and downtown Crystal River. About 30 minutes to Rainbow Springs, about 10 minutes to Homosassa Springs. We had a great visit. Well-stocked house, great host. If you're looking for a good place to stay while you snorkel with manatees and kayak the rivers, this is it.

Zen Spot Sanctuary Heated Salt Water Pool Koi Pond

AngelaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This place was beyond what we were expecting. Only thing that would have been better for us would be more parking. We had a 19 foot boat and had to park in the road to hook up and unhook the boat. But that is to be expected anywhere really. Most drive ways are not long enough to support a 19 foot boat hooked to a full size vehicle lol. We loved it and will be back to stay here very year!

The place was amazing, perfect for 4 people and 2 dogs. Easy to get in and out, right across from the beach and restaurants less than a few min away. Great park for kids and pets right across the street. Loved the golf cart community, very laid back and relaxing. 100% will visit again.

RV Lot-Gulf Front Sunset View, Horseshoe Beach, FL

MayulyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This site is a hidden gem. The perfect place to disconnect and catch incredible sunsets. We were about 75 ft from the door of our RV to the water. The site itself is at the end of the street, where it dead ends at the water, and because the site across the way is vacant, you really only have 1 neighbor in proximity and they completely kept to themselves. We fished right off the seawall (your "backyard") and enjoyed the sunsets there as well. The site was HUGE, (more accurately it's a small plot of land for a residence) and it had electric, water, and sewer which were all easily accessible. The price for this was extremely reasonable, and the hosts were very easy to communicate with. 5 stars without hesitation! WE. WILL. BE. BACK :)

Tailin' Stories

TylerRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Had a great time staying at the tailing story’s, used the on-site boat ramp every day which is extremely convenient. We were in town fishing for a tournament. Sadly, the weather did not cooperate for us, but thankfully, we had a great house to stay at with awesome hosts. I would definitely recommend staying here, especially if you are looking to get out and unwind in nature.

Cedar Key Condo: Relax with Confidence

IanRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Lori is a great host and we loved her condo! We had a minor issue when we checked in and Lori resolved it quickly and efficiently. Cedar Key is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Helene but it is a charming small town in a beautiful area with good restaurants and shops and we loved the seafood. I should add that the condo did not suffer any damage from Helene and it was a great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable with a great king size bed in the main bedroom. We certainly hope to return!!

Best Fresh Water Fishing in the area!

TomRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Feb 23-March 1, 2025 Very nice and clean. Everything that we would need was there. It was very spacious. Very nice view of the lake. Covered dock was a plus since it rained a full day and night the next day of our arrival. Quiet neighborhood. The drinks in the refrigerator when we arrive was a surprise and greatly appreciated. The only thing that Tom was disappointed with was the fishing during our stay wasn't very good. He did catch a few though.

Tranquil Waterfront Cottage

JamesRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Off the beaten path, yet close proximity to a number of unique and cool things to do. (Like the animal park, or seafood restaurants) Hosts provide a number of local recommendations and things such as Starbucks or Grocery stores are nearby. Great location near the waterway that leads to other places to explore by kayaks provided by the hosts. Definitely will consider this place again when we return to the area.

Rainbow River getaway - kayaks, tubes & golf cart

NilsaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
The listing for this place was more than we had expected. The host had ample items in the kitchen for us to use to cook with. They have starter bathroom supplies to for those who travel from plane to use, other than toothbrush and paste. For those outdoor enthusiasts, they have floating devices to use and even some kayaks to take to their private park to launch into the rainbow river. They responded very quickly when we had a question. I tell you we felt very welcome and will try to return, but for a longer stay next time.

Très belle maison sur le lac. Un endroit paisible pour bien se ressourcer. Très bien décorée et confortable. Les instructions ont été très clairs. Dommage qu’on n’ait pas eu le temps de rester plus longtemps.

Your guide to Cedar Key

All About Cedar Key

Cedar Key is a tiny island city off the west coast of Florida with a population that, at last count, stood under 800. The key spans just 2.1 square miles, with less than one of those miles made up of land. The result: an island community where everything is within walking distance.

Despite its size, Cedar Key is a massive player in Florida’s fishing industry, producing 95 percent of the state’s clams. That means that you can get them fresh from the Gulf here, served up in bowls of creamy clam chowder or fried and garnished with wedges of lemon. Down on Dock Street, you can eat them at restaurants on tall wooden stilts, hovering over the water like vigilant sandpipers.

If you prefer to catch your dinner, there’s a public pier at the south end of town where you can fish for black drum, redfish, and sheepshead in the winter — just watch out for pelicans looking for a free meal.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Cedar Key

Cedar Key is pleasant in winter, hot and humid in summer, and has oysters and clams on the menu year-round. Even in July, when temperatures are at their hottest, afternoon thunderstorms and breezes off the Gulf work together to keep things pleasant. June through November is hurricane season, which can sometimes (but not often) bring on tropical storms. In late October, there’s a seafood festival that celebrates the village’s fishing heritage with live music, arts and crafts, and plenty of seafood. Mid to late March is the best time to spot dolphins and horseshoe crabs off the shore near Cedar Key condo rentals. The Cedar Key Arts Festival takes place around this time as well, filling 2nd Street with fine art from the key and beyond.

Top things to do in Cedar Key

Cedar Key Museum State Park

Cedar Key Museum State Park offers a peek into the vast history the area has seen and survived — civil conflict, railroad expansion, and even nearly getting taken out by a hurricane in the late 1800s. You can check out all of the relics and home goods preserved during your visit and learn how this small island city became the lovely beach getaway it is today.

Atsena Otie Key

When Cedar Key was first established, it was built on Atsena Otie Key, a barrier island three miles away from the town’s current location. While little remains of the settlement today, it’s a great, secluded place to hike or scan for birds among the ruins.

Kayak Fishing

A kayak, a pole, and a bit of shrimp bait are all you need to jump in on Cedar Key’s fishing scene. With patience and luck, you can reel in everything from redfish to speckled trout. Both kayaks and gear rentals are available at the Cedar Key Fishing Pier.
