A lovely, homely cottage. Great for a family. We had such a great stay. Soraya sorted a light switch issue in the bathroom quickly and effectively. The small details with some bits to help us get started, such as bread, jam, milk and orange juice was so nice. I'd highly recommend a visit as location is beautiful and peaceful and great to climb Scafell Pike, just 20 minutes away.

We (2 adults, 2 children & 1 baby) stayed at Smithy Cottage for 5 nights over the new year. What a beautiful cottage that felt like a home from home.. Whole house was spotless, kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to make a decent meal, good supply of logs for the burner, shower was powerful, beds were comfy and the kids loved the cosy upstairs twin room over looking the living room. Really loved the dishwasher & washing machine as we’ve returned home with no washing at all!! Within the first night we knew we’d be back to stay again. It’s a very quiet & peaceful area with a lovely stream running down the back of the cottage. Madonna was away during our stay but still communicated very well and Anna was always on the other end of the phone for any questions that needed to be asked. Couldn’t have asked for a better end to the year at smithy cottage. Thank you Madonna for your hospitality, we can’t wait to return!

Amazing cottage in an absolutely stunning location with a beautiful look out over the lake. Diane is a 5 star host and wants to make sure that you get the most out of your stay and is very helpful. The cottage is beautiful and has everything you need and more of everything readily available if you need, it’s very cosy to come back to after a walk around the lakes. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Gorgeous cottage in beautiful surroundings. Could walk out every day all day onto the fells, cosy place to come home to. A lovely welcome and lots to do. Would highly recommend :))
