**A Hidden Gem in Winter!** While this cottage is clearly a summer favorite, our winter stay was magical! The deck BBQ was a standout—grilling in the snowy surroundings was an unforgettable experience. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the warmth of the hosts and staff, made us feel so welcome. Don’t overlook this place in the colder months—it’s a true winter retreat! ❄️🍖🏡

It was quite an adventure to get there as we came in winter and it was pretty dark. However, it didn’t took us long to be able to locate the beautiful house. The house is very well equipped with the necessary items! We stayed for two nights with our two boys! We all had a good rest! Bathroom is big for Japan standard and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the peace, fresh air and away from the crowd! We could have just stay in the room and stare at the scenery! The place looks exactly like the photo and the peacefulness was what we needed! Thank you! If you are making a trip to Karuizawa and you want to be away from the usual crowd, this is the place for you!

Responsive and friendly

Kim’s house was a standout of our trip to Japan. The location was spectacular - the views over the lake and to Mt Fuji, especially the sunrise were highlights as was the warm and cozy lounge in the evenings. The large house had everything and it was great to be able to be able to spread out over the two floors - there was plenty of room for whole family and the beds were super comfortable. If you’re after an airbnb with an exceptional host, then this is it.

Matt, Jen and the team were the best hosts we’ve had on Airbnb. They went out of their way to make our stay outstanding. Nothing was too small for them to help us with, they got us to where we wanted to go and did everything they could to help us outrun a blizzard before it settled in! We were 2 families travelling together and the house was roomy and very comfortable. A lot of thought has been given to making every space matter. The artwork & different pieces add to the experience. I would highly recommend staying at the chalet!

This is my second time staying here and it was perfect like my last visit 5 years ago. Kuri Chalet is a charming retreat, tucked away in peaceful surroundings, making it the perfect escape.
