A lovely cottage situated 10 miles out of the main town of Stornoway, in a quiet village with wonderful sea views. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the deck overlooking the sea and cosy up in the evening beside the wood burning stove. Perfect for a couple getaway. Having your own car would be ideal but regular public transport is available on your doorstep.

Staying at the Old Mission House was a tonic. The house is spacious, very well proportioned and tastefully furnished whilst the kitchen is comprehensively kitted out - down to blender and spices!. All appliances are modern and effortless to use (particularly the electric space heaters). Above all they fit the bill, are appropriately sized and located and function perfectly. The situation of the house is wonderful and the creatively landscaped garden which stretches and gives access to the lochside is heavenly. All you need is some cooperative weather - ideally with some sun. Should it be pouring, all is not lost as the 270 deg. views from the house can equally be enjoyed from within and are very immersive. Perfect location, clean, comfortable and more than kitted out with everything you could possibly need. My partner and I loved staying here and it was the perfect base to explore Lewis from. My only regret is that we didn’t book for longer. We’ll miss watching the light change over the view from the window and being able to walk down to the beach at sunset. A highly recommended stay for anyone visiting the area and such lovely welcoming hosts with lots of helpful recommendations for what to see and do.

We can’t fault our stay at the Otter Hide. Frank Linda and Eddy were so welcoming and super helpful when our luggage was lost by our airline. The cabin is beautifully designed, thought out really well, stylishly decorated and so comfortable and cosy after a day’s hiking. The views out of the front are spectacular. We had such a relaxing stay and would 100% come back and recommend.

We had blue blue skies all week. What a magical location. Have waited 20 years to get to Luskentyre and it was magical. The best place in Harris to stay, roll onto the white sand and enjoy the crystal clear sea, and on an evening sit in the front garden and watch the sunsets. And perfectly placed to explore all of Harris & Lewis too. House is lovely and clean, comfy beds and homely. Thank you for a fantastic week!

Despite arriving at Shiantview very late after our morning ferry cancellation, Isobel and Ken were kind enough to meet us at the property for a handover. Very helpful, friendly hosts. The house is everything that it should be... clean, cosy and warm. Kitchen had everything we needed for our week's stay. There's plenty of reading material and games for cosy days in. Absolutely loved our stay! Thank you for having us. Two adults + two pooches.
