We had an amazing time at Nat’s place. The location was perfect: easy walk to the beach and beautiful path along the cliffs. The description and pictures were exactly what we found upon arrival. Very clean and comfortable. We were very pleased with our stay. Next time in Kaua’i, will definitely return and will recommend to family and friends. Nat was very responsive and helpful with precise instructions upon check in and out. Thank you Nat!!

Mele Olina, Private Home-golf course & ocean view

JuliaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The house is absolutely beautiful and looks exactly like the pictures and the description. It was incredibly spacious for our multi-generational group of 6. The house was spotless and really well-appointed, including all their beach gear. It’s in a great location in Princeville, really close to Hideaway beach and a quick easy drive to Hanalei. The hosts are lovely and very responsive. Our family had a fabulous stay and we would definitely stay at the house again!

Relaxing 1-B "Apt" on the secluded green belt. A/C

DebiRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Great place with plenty of space and a gorgeous big yard with covered and uncovered seating areas. Well-stocked kitchenette with plenty of basic cooking equipment, some oils vinegars, spices, sugar etc likely left by previous guests, and a propane grill that was in good shape. Very comfortable bed, and I'm fussy about beds. Everything you could possibly need for the beach except surfboards. Absolutely loved the 7pm check-out time! Super nice owner (I met Adam, but not Beata). They live upstairs, but were very quiet. Speaking of quiet, this property seemed to have a lot less roosters than most places I've stayed on Kauai--I didn't need to use my ear plugs. I would absolutely love to come back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Beautiful condo, sleeps 9, short walk to beach, AC

JoeRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Gail’s condo is in a great location and served us well in a week-long stay for 7 people. Very clean space that was a 5-10 minute walk from multiple beaches. The condo is stocked with everything you could want for snorkeling or hanging out at the beach and was very comfortable for our crew. Would certainly recommend this spot for your vacation on Kauai.

Beautiful Detached Ohana

Mary JoRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We enjoyed our very nice, quiet, and comfortable stay. Everything was clean and the neighborhood was beautiful and safe. One night, we decided to cook hamburgers in and everything that we needed was there! A hot plate, a frying pan, etc. It was nice to have a regular size refrigerator too. Loved this place, really enjoyed meeting Mike and Sue, and would book again! It was very convenient for our hikes in Waimea Canyon, to see the Spouting Horn, and turtles on Poipu Beach.

Panoramic luxury beachside condo in paradise A/C

BrianRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Perfect location as a beautiful home. The view is lovely and the sunrises are amazing. While the home is in a small condo building, you can’t see anything except the ocean from the windows and it feels very private. The home has everything you need from a well appointed kitchen to all of the beach goodies you could hope for. The location is great for exploring the island assuming you are able to tear yourself away from the beautiful private beach right in front of the unit. Host is very proactive, quick to respond, and has great advice if things to do on the island. Highly recommend!

Ohana House with AC

MariaRating, 5 stars5 months ago
The house was beautiful and private. We enjoyed eating out in the lanai often , surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. The outdoor shower was a great way to wash off with towel racks cable prior to getting into the house. Jane also provided many beach amenities such as chairs, umbrellas, surf and boogie boards if/when needed. The location was the best part, being a few minutes walk to Hanalei beach and a few minutes walk to shops , restaurants, coffee shops and markets. Jane is a very friendly and responsive host! We had a lovely stay there:)

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful view of sunrise. Spacious, well stocked condo. Appreciated welcome goody basket filled with Hawaiian treats. Make sure to read instructions on how to open door. The downstairs living area does not have AC. We were there in early January and it was bearable but I think we would have been too hot in summer. The bedrooms were very comfortable with portable AC units. Management had very good and clear communication. We were worried about the nearby construction but we only heard them one morning around 8 as we were getting ready to leave for the day so it never bothered us but if you want to sleep in on weekdays, it might bother you. There is a public trail out back but the lanai is higher so you only see the people when you are sitting outside. Lots of people hike by at sunrise and sunset to see the view you get from the lanai in your PJs! Overall great convenient location and would definitely stay again!

First off, this Airbnb had everything we needed and more. The beach chairs and umbrella were great. Wonderful location. Walked to a lot of things. The guide book provided was very helpful and we took a lot of the recommendations. Jayne was fantastic! We had a really late flight and decided at the last minute we wanted a late check out. She made that happen and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for everything! We would stay here in a heartbeat.

Stylish beach house a short walk to Koloa fun!

GlennRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a great vacation at this cottage. We loved to be able to walk to many coffee shops, restaurants, shopping. Easy drive to beaches and other sites in the area. Cohost Guy, was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved hanging out on the lanai with our coffee and relaxing after a long, fun day exploring. The beds were really comfortable. The cottage was super cute inside. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some! Very much appreciated the stocked pantry, the fresh fruit and the juice that was there when we arrived. Staying at Lily's Koloa cottage made our first trip to Kauai awesome! Can't wait to go back. Thanks for everything!

Just like the pictures but somehow far better than we expected. This location feels like you sitting on the ocean. One thing that the pictures cannot show is how quiet this location is. We could not hear neighbors at all unless we walked outside of the condo. Great privacy and beauty.

Sunset Waterfall House In Kauai

JoshuaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Great place. About a 15-20 minute walk to a couple beaches. You are in a neighborhood so it feels safe to walk around/not many cars. 5-7 minute drive to nearest grocery store and a few restaurants. Very close to Hanalei town - about 30 min to Haena State Park. You definitely need a car while sight seeing around Kauai. The home is large (big enough for 9-10 people) and the kitchen/living area is great for family mornings and evenings. You can see the mountains and waterfalls on a clear day. The lanai on the first and second floor are great in the mornings. All the rooms are spacious and very clean. 3 of the rooms are on the bottom floor (including the 4th room/bunk bed that is in common area). The only room on the first floor is the master. Only issue was that the fridge ice maker did not work and had a little difficulty contacting the 24/7 property manager. Brad was a great communicator and really helps you know the lay of the land. Would definitely stay again.

Your guide to Kauai

All About Kauai

Kauai’s reputation as the most tropical of all the Hawaiian Islands is well deserved. The verdant isle, which erupted into existence over 5 million years ago, is 552 square miles of emerald jungles, jagged volcanic spires, lush waterfalls, aquamarine pools, and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. If you’re the active type, there’s so much to do on Kauai — hiking, snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving, horseback riding, and much more. The island is also a mellower and less crowded experience when compared to either Oahu or Maui, and it’s not uncommon to find a stretch of beach or hiking trail to call your own.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Kauai

Vacationers will be pleased to know temperatures are pleasantly warm in Kauai year- round, peaking around August with an average of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. However, reflective of the island’s lush greenery, it also drizzles and rains year-round. The dry season spans from April through October, with wetter storms arriving more regularly between November and March. But rain is often intermittent, allowing interludes of sunshine to peek through most days.

Despite its Garden Island moniker, Kauai hosts numerous microclimates to prepare for if you explore beyond the beaches. These microclimates span from shirt-soaking humidity in the tropical rainforests to arid heat on the southwestern side, where cactus can be common. It’s always a good idea to pack a light windbreaker, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen when visiting Kauai.

Top things to do in Kauai

Na Pali Coast Trail

Even if you don’t consider yourself much of a hiker, the first 2 miles of the 11-mile out-and-back Kalalau Trail deserve the effort. The views along this steep oceanside trail are spectacular, with a picturesque pocket beach and the hidden valley of Hanakāpī‘ai awaiting.

Waimea Canyon State Park

Imagine the Grand Canyon overtaken by a tropical jungle and you get a rudimentary sense of the awe-inspiring vistas visitors experience while surveying this majestic, red-tinged canyon.

Mount Waiʻaleʻale

Anyone approaching the sheer emerald walls of Mount Waiʻaleʻale, which reach upward 5,148 feet, shouldn’t expect to stay dry. Reputedly the wettest place on Earth and the originating source of all seven of Kauai’s rivers, Mount Waiʻaleʻale requires a special guide (or helicopter ride) to explore, but is a uniquely Kauai experience.
