Enchanted Volcano Forest Escape 3BDRM Rental House

SurabhiRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Great place to stay close to Volcano national park. It has beautiful surroundings. The place was comfortable for 6-7 people. Kitchen is well stocked and host reminded us to get groceries from Hilo. There isn’t much of a town there. May be a restaurant or two and couple of food trucks but none of those open all through the week. Everyone runs only a few days a week. Having kitchen and option to cook was great. Host kindly left hay in the carport for kids to feed neighbors sheep. It was a highlight for my kids. Do read the check out instructions. There is no trash pickup so you have to dump the trash. We didn’t read till the last night and ended up carrying all garbage with us to Kona (we were driving through the south route) because all trash disposal locations close to home and on our way were closed (open only 3 days a week). I guess it is island life.

~ The Garden Jewel of Kauai ~

PaulaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay at Jeff and Shana's! Their place is clean, up to date, and well kept. It was Perfect for our 2 couple get away. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, with lots of places to walk. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and cooking utensils. We lacked for nothing! The view out the sliding glass door is a beautiful grassy area with palms and tropical plants, and of course, chickens and Nenes. Getting in and out of the condo was easy peasy, and all of the directions provided were spot on! The pool and jacuzzi were close by, and we used the BBQ there. We loved the little nearby towns of Princeville and Hanalei. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Volcano Big Tree/hot tub&sauna

RobinRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This place is fabulous! The house is well-designed, well-built and well-maintained. We loved the second floor wrap-around balcony and the unbelievable star-gazing it afforded at night. The home is beautifully decorated and was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds, admiring all the plants and trees (some fresh lemons, too), and feeding the koi in the pond. Although we did not use the sauna or hot tub, they looked great and were in the most stunningly beautiful setting. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, although, you do need to bring food supplies, etc. Super comfortable bed and great bathroom. Plenty of linens, etc. We stayed 3 nights so we were able to explore the Volcanoes Natl Park with an early start each day (very short drive). Definitely would return here next time we want to walk the Iki Trail and the Sulfur Flats!!

Paradise garden with ocean breezes and AC

RaviRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This place is everything you would want in an Airbnb. It has an amazing backyard with so many wonderfully maintained tropical plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers. The house is modern, spacious, clean & well maintained (even better than in pictures) with modern kitchen appliances, washing machine, dryer, fast wifi, fans in all all rooms and AC. Kitchen was stocked with well thought out spices, sauces, good quality bowls & cooking pans which helped greatly with food prep when away from home. This house perfectly provides the mood advertised, with birds being heard almost any time of the day and all around views of the Hawaiian wilderness. Special mention about the host Dara who was kind and warm - he took care of us as if we were his own neighbor. Would 100% recommend this to anybody staying in and around the Hilo area.

Tropical Tree Guest House near Pahoa, Hawaii

JuliaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Joe’s place is exquisitely beautiful, dull of lovely details and very comfortable. My family of 4 stayed for 6 nights. Night noises and nature sounds were lovely and to be expected. We are big cookers so the cooking supplies were on the meager side for us, but would be fine for smaller meals. But we did not make a requested so it is on us. Joe always responded to messages. The grill was great. The beds were super comfortable and the covers felt like home. In the mornings we walked or drove the mile to black sands beach for a swim and to watch the spinner dolphins play. Many evenings were spent in the magical moonlit hot ponds at the end of the road. Pahoa had good grocery stores to meet all our needs. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

NEW- Hula House w/AC - 3 Bdrm - Hilo Town

SaraRating, 5 stars4 days ago
Hula House was great! We walked into a beautifully decorated space that provided ample space for our group of four. The AC in each bedroom was also a perfect, extra touch! The house is equipped with ample linens, kitchenware, and beach going supplies — and the host left a sweet note with some Big Island treats as a welcome gift. It’s a short walk down the hill to Hilotown where you will find greats shops and a lovely farmer’s market. We would definitely stay again! Mahalo to the hosts for extending your aloha our way!

Hale Aka'ula, house of the red sunset

JanineRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I stayed at Jenne’s place with my husband, toddler, and my parents and it was the perfect spot for our big island trip. The space was large enough for all of us and provided the perfect environment for our relaxing family vacation. We really loved the location! It wasn’t too far from town but felt removed from the noise and bustle of the towns. It was also a lot cooler being up so high and we loved listening to the birds and frogs and having an uninterrupted view of the ocean and sunset. The house came with all the amenities described and Debi was a fantastic host, she spent time showing us the trees and fruit and left a little treat for us. She also helped with the Babyquip delivery while we were out and about before check in which I greatly appreciated. I could not have asked for a better spot and this one deserves all the great reviews!

Private tropical villa: Pool, Hot Tub & Ocean view

MattRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Sean and Anjali are the perfect hosts and their home is one of the best Aibnb's I have ever experienced. Communication with both of them was a breeze - always responsive and friendly. They know how to make the entire experience as good as it can be because they also travel a lot and know what guests are looking for. Everything in the house was so well put together and thought out - overall home design and decor, tourism info, snacks, clear presentation of home and pool instructions. It made everything so easy for us. The pool area with is waterfall, ocean views, brilliant sunsets, gorgeous landscaping, abundant birds, butterflies and geckos were some of my favorite parts of the stay. My partner and I are 150% satisfied with our stay and look forward to many, many more returns visits to this beautiful and peaceful home. Thanks again for everything, Sean & Anjali!! We'll be back!

Kailua Beach Park - 2 BR Cottage

DavidRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Beautiful location - Kailua beach is a 1-2 mins walk, Linakai beach is about a 15 minute walk mountains in the background and the Linakai pillbox hike's trailhead is about 10 minutes walk. This location is also quite accessible to the beautiful windward Oahu coastline. Food options exist at both walkable and less than 1.5 mile driving distance. The shared driveway to the unit (there are 2 ABNB units) is narrow and will require getting used to while backing out, but by the second or third day, you will figure it out. Overall, great home for a relaxing family vacation by a beautiful beach.

BIG Ocean View, pool,Full Kitchen, King, WiFi, 203

PeterRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Incredible proximity to the beach- could hear the ocean from the front (queen) bedroom. Fell asleep listening to the waves every night. Majestic. Also super conveniently located across the street from a safeway grocery store, close to the airport and Kaapa town area. Walking distance to cafes, food, & other stuff in town. Only critique I have is the ocean was not swimmable at the nearby beaches, as they had coral & rock as far as 100 feet out into the water and a very low tide, even at high tide. But that encouraged me to explore the rest of the island, so not too mad about it ^.^ Not sure if that was mentioned in the description of the place, if it was I missed it I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, I stayed in December and it was a bit warm (for me) at times, so the (definitely mentioned) no air conditioning in Summer could be rough. But all in all, this was an amazing place to stay & I'd visit again for sure. Appreciated the local coffee, chocolates, & cookies gift basket upon arrival :-D

Our stay at Kenya’s place was perfect! The house is so comfortable, so quiet, and had everything! The lanai was an incredibly peaceful place to relax, we enjoyed many sunsets just a few minutes walk from the beach, and had anything we could ever need for the beaches. I would recommend anyone stay here and would love to come back.

Modern condo in Kona- Close to the ocean & dining

KevinRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Great place to stay within walking distance of Kona's restaurants and bars. Keisha's place is well-stocked with everything you could possibly need for a long, comfortable stay. My only complaint is about the mattress, which was very soft and felt a little lumpy. Other than that, the place was perfect and Keisha is very friendly and responsive.

Your guide to Hawaii

Welcome to Hawaii

What we see as the eight islands of the Hawaiian archipelago are in reality the visible peaks of a sprawling oceanic mountain range that first erupted into existence more than 65 million years ago. Today the resulting tropical landscapes outlined by some of the world’s most breathtaking beaches host millions of visitors seeking warm weather, brightly colored sunsets, crystal-clear waters, and maybe even the occasional whale or sea turtle sighting against the backdrop of paradise.

But what makes Hawaii particularly special is the opportunity to discover your favorite island specific to your interests. Island hopping is easy and reasonably affordable, so whether you prefer the cosmopolitan luxuries of Honolulu, the laid-back vibes of Maui, the rugged landscape of the Big Island, or the breathtaking biodiversity of Kauai, there’s an opportunity to mix and match should you want to wander.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Hawaii

A year-around temperate tropical climate buffered from trade winds means almost any time is a good time to stay in one of the many scenic vacation rentals on the Hawaiian islands. That said, each island hosts a multitude of microclimates and localized weather specific to its unique geography. This means it’s possible to experience all four seasons in one day, especially across the biggest island of Hawai’i, where 11 out of 13 climate zones can deliver both sunburns and frostbite if you’re ill prepared. The windward (north and east) sides of islands tend to be wetter, while coastal regions along the south and west sides can be so dry that cacti can be spotted growing along hillsides. Pack layers in preparation for a surprise rain shower or a chilly welcome at the top of a volcano. And be sure to bring high-strength sunscreen, as it’s easy to burn under a tropic sun.

Top things to do in Hawaii

The Road to Hana (Maui)

Traveling Maui’s 64.4-mile stretch of winding coastal cliff-hugging highway and one-way bridges can admittedly be a white-knuckled experience, but the journey rewards with unforgettable sights along the way: waterfalls emptying into emerald pools, empty stretches of beaches, and black sand beaches where local kids build sandcastles. Most visitors turn back after reaching the sleepy town of Hana, but those who continue to complete the loop will take in a surreal and sometimes barren landscape shaped by volcanic forces still slumbering underneath.

Alakai Swamp Trail (Kauai)

Walking through the world's highest rainforest can be both disorienting and magical. The boardwalk trail is often blanketed by a swirling layer of fog, slowing your pace to a shuffle. But this is all to hikers’ benefit, provoking visitors to stop, listen, and look around more carefully than if the path was easier. Unusual accumulations of moss and fruiting mushrooms can be found all along the way, with rare endemic birds often heard but rarely seen, masked by the dense vegetation. The hike ends at Kilohana Lookout, where on a clear day you’ll look out onto the depths of Wainiha Valley all the way out to Hanalei.

Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park (Hawaii)

For most of us, walking upon an active volcano crater might be the closest we’ll get to visiting another planet. And indeed, the landscape of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park frames an otherworldly geological scar — a hot, steaming, hissing wound stinking of sulfur dioxide gas. For those hesitant to get that up close and personal, the 11-mile route known as the Crater Rim Drive allows you to take in the view safely from your car, or at various lookouts or observation decks from a distance.
