Lake houses in Rathbun Lake

Our family had a great time! The kids had a blast fishing and swimming in the pond. It’s definitely a great spot to get away from the business of life.

Great place and a very responsive and accommodating host. This house is in a great location close to Rathbun Lake and amenities in Centerville. Would recommend for anyone going to the area.

Loved our stay. 2 days there were 13 of us definitely tested the capacity lots of room. My husband and I added a day , he seldom gets summer vacations. Bring blankets especially if people sleeping on couches. More kitchen stocking if doing a lot of cooking. The house was awesome one level especially the game room extra space. Two sleeper sofa’s would work in there. Lots of room for large groups. Fire pit and pool absolutely great. Patio and two doors on the poolside was very useful. I did call Douglas with a few questions, very accommodating and friendly.

Nick was an excellent host. He was very responsive and helpful even showing us around the area for a while one morning. I would highly recommend the property as it has a carefully maintained lawn and plenty of sights including its own small pond area. Lots of wildlife around to see. The house has internet service and multiple TVs which were easy to operate. I would absolutely stay at this property again as long as Nick is running it!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hideaway Retreat in Melrose. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. When we lost a bolt out of our boat trailer, Dianne was able to find a replacement to get us back on the road and in the water. And hardware wasn't even on the list of things provided! How's that for service?

This is definitely a 5 Star location, otherwise we wouldn't have come back. We love everything about this place. The privacy, the location, the cleanliness of the cabin and of course the great hosts. My wife loves to fish and I love to relax. We will be back again.

Pros - The place actually looks better than the photos. I was a bit worried that the listing does not include all photos of bedrooms and bathrooms but there were two twin bathrooms with shower and one separate room only with bathtub (so feel like 3), two bedrooms downstairs, and two bigger bedrooms upstairs. Plenty of space for our group of 6 + dogs. The surrounding is fantastic as it was right in front of the lake. Window view from the living room is beautiful and peaceful. Enough towels, pillows, and comforter. Will have more things to do during the summer time like swimming and kayaking. All windows not have curtains or blinds so it feels safe and private. Cons - One of the upper bedroom's bedsheet was kinda smelly. Some cobwebs and dead bugs are here and there so if you are extremely picky with cleanness, be aware of it. It wasn't too bad for us. No tongs for bbq so we went to dollar store to buy a few kitchen stuff. No shampoo, bodywash, etc so bring them with you.

We were in town for a wedding and it was a nice place to stay. The views were beautiful and the area peaceful. The checkout process was easy.

The place was great overall. My only complaints would be that there was a lot of noise from a UTV driving by constantly, and there were a lot of dead bugs around the door and windows. A quick check before my arrival would have been appreciated.

I came in late and they did such a nice job accommodating me and my pup. Also a really nice breakfast with Celeste’s family. An incredible old building with wonderful antiques and a friendly, laid back midwestern vibe. Perfect stop on my road trip. Thank you

We loved staying on the square! The location was perfect and the apartment had everything we needed! We will definitely stay there again if it’s available!

We stayed at Big Bear and it was awesome! If you wanted a cabin atmosphere this is the place to do it. We loved it!

Place was very nice and private. Enough room to drive in and out with truck and 20 foot boat. It was our very first time in the area and very first time at Rathbun. Close to boat launch/state park and made it extremally easy to travel back and forth for the morning and evening fishing trip. Just down the street, there is a "self Service" station where you can buy firewood's, baits and Ice which made it extremely convenient. Aaron was very responsive and a great host. Two thumbs up!!!
